On January 20, 2009, a coronation took place. It was the most expensive inauguration in American history. Barack Hussein Obama was sworn in as America’s 44th President. The pageantry far exceeded this man’s stature.
It has been said that “Tolerance is a crime when applied to evil” (Thomas Mann). Do not pray for President Obama’s policies to succeed. Good Christians should not pray for evil to prevail. Those sentiments are contrary to God’s word. “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).
Corruption of the human heart
America has proven to have one of the most successful forms of government in the world’s history. The United States is as close to perfection as we’re likely to get on earth, compared to any other country. Our democracy was formed and established by our Founding Fathers, who wanted to make sure America was not going to become a mere replica of what was feared and left behind in Europe. Intelligent, God-fearing men therefore crafted policies that created the separation of powers in our Constitution to prevent such an outcome.
We have checks and balances within our government. There is a purposeful, clear separation of powers among the legislative, judicial, and executive branches. The very fact that we need checks and balances in government says something about the unbridled human heart. It can be deceitful. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9).
As each election passes and one administration gives way to another, there will always be people who are willing to put all of their hopes in a leader who promises to solve all of life’s problems. I find it unfortunate that so many of our fellow countrymen gravitated to a contrived Messianic figure. He rose up from obscurity in a city where corruption and deception are part and parcel of politics. Anyone who comes out of the corrupt Daley political machine is suspect, including pay-to-play Governor Rod Blagojevich, who shares sordid connections with some of Obama’s inner circle.
President Barack Obama was tainted from the beginning of his presidential campaign. His involvement with a convicted felon named Tony Rezko and the transactions that took place in Chicago between them were more than just shady.
Let’s not be naïve. Obama is still the same man who sat in a church pastored by Rev. Jeremiah Wright. For twenty years, the new president was tutored in Black Liberation theology. Obama’s religious beliefs in no way represent mainline Christianity. Rev. Wright is a bigoted, anti-Semitic man who hangs out with Louis Farrakhan, the Supreme Minister and National Representative of the Nation of Islam.
During the time Obama attended the Trinity United Church of Christ, the church printed Hamas literature. Do you not think it strange that this particular pastor and his congregation felt an unhealthy sympathy for the Hamas terrorist group? The “Pastor’s Page” in the church bulletin should have been an eye-opener for American Jews and Christians who love the people and land of Israel. These anti-Semitic pages were full of untruthful information, and they were available to the media before the election.
Why the disconnect?
Political pundits sounded the alarm in their opinion pieces. Conservative talk show hosts from coast to coast voiced concern about Obama. People from left to right listened intensely. Americans understand the importance of talk radio, no matter what political views they hold. It is the last bastion of truth where the average Joe or Jane can have their say. Where then was the disconnect?
I am asking with sincerity, because I have a need to understand and learn. Where were the thinkers among the voting citizenry? Obama allowed himself to begin his political career in the home of William Ayers. He knew Ayers was an unrepentant terrorist of the 60’s who tried to blow up the Pentagon, and who bombed police stations and a judge’s home. The homegrown terrorist group called the Weathermen was a Communist-driven splinter faction of Students for a Democratic Society and was responsible — according to the FBI — for the death of a San Francisco policeman.
It was Rev. Wright who told America that our chickens would come home to roost. As of this past week, Obama has given us reason to worry. Where will the Islamic terrorists who are in a safe and secure environment be sent when the doors of Gitmo are finally shut? We’ve been pretty much told that they will be kept in America’s prisons. The same maniacal terrorists will appeal to every deadbeat and radicalize them so they too can wreak havoc upon our nation when let back into our society. A number of terrorists who were released from Gitmo have returned to the battle fields and killed innocent citizens in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are a threat to our brave heroic troops serving their country.
“We’re talking about terrorists here. Do we bring them into our borders? Do we release them back into the battlefield?”, asked House Republican Leader John A. Boehner.
A free pass for alarming “change”
Almost immediately after Obama’s exposure to the media at the DNC convention in 2004, where he presented the keynote address, he began to run for the most important office a man can hold — without any experience. Nevertheless, the American voters have spoken. Unfortunately, we will now have to endure the change that many of us will live to regret.
Since Obama has been in office, he has not done one thing to prove that those who didn’t vote for him were wrong. With the stroke of his executive pen, he has started the process of making our country weak and vulnerable. The prison that holds potential murderers should not be closed.
With his funding of international abortion subsidies, Obama has signed a death warrant that reaches across to other lands. The innocent and helpless do not stand a chance against his repeated callous actions. Taxpayers will now be paying to eliminate human life in abortion clinics not only in America, but in other countries.
The beginning days of the new administration came with some problems. Eric Holder is the president’s choice for the United States Attorney General. There is reason to be concerned. Holder has been a yes-man for those he has worked for in the past. He was high in the corrupt Clinton Administration (serving as Deputy Attorney General) and has connections with terrorists.

Tim Geithner was chosen for Treasury Secretary. He hadn’t paid his taxes and had hired an illegal alien for a housekeeper. It’s clear that both acts were not mere oversights. Unfortunately, it is a given that all of Obama’s appointees, no matter how questionable, will be given a pass and approved by Congress.
Socialism vs. personal responsibility
Democrats want their constituents to put all of our hopes in big government programs that will eventually ensnare Americans’ freedoms. Regrettably, there are misguided souls who want to believe that Obama will make their lot in life much better. However, it has been proven that people who take the personal responsibility to reach their highest goals are the happiest. Those who do for themselves maintain a certain confidence because whatever is gained by personal perseverance is appreciated by the achiever and society. Successful, goal-oriented people are not interested in having government take care of their every need from cradle to grave. In fact, it’s an imposition.
Forcibly sharing the wealth is socialism; it walked in the door with the newly elected president — whose party holds the majority in both the House and the Senate, and threatens the balance of power.
I am a firm believer that those in the public arena should strive to make life better for those they govern. However, I understand that on this side of eternity, human governments will bring with them “people” problems. America has ushered in the era of socialism, along with the fifth column.

“2009-2010 will rank with 1913-1914, 1933-1936, 1964-1965 and 1981-1982 as years that will permanently change our government, politics and lives.

When FDR took office, he was enormously successful in averting a total collapse of the banking system and the economy. But his New Deal measures only succeeded in lowering the unemployment rate from 23 percent in 1933 when he took office to 13 percent in the summer of 1937. It never went lower. And his policies of over-regulation generated such business uncertainty that they triggered a second-term recession. Unemployment rose to 17 percent in 1938 and, in 1940, on the verge of the war-driven recovery, stood at 15 percent. America held hostage
Let me help those who still do not understand how we ended up in the financial mess we’re in today. The problems were brought about by a housing debacle caused by the Democrats in the Senate. They were warned about their irresponsible and reckless ways by President G. W. Bush in 2001, then again by Senator John McCain in 2005. The Senate kept pouring taxpayer money into institutions that were failing, and had the unmitigated gall to lie about it.
In a video, we see Rep. Barney Frank and other well-known Democrats betray us in their own words. They covered up the Fannie Mae-Freddie Mac scam that caused our economic crisis.
America’s new president has a very nice smile. However, he is one crafty son of a gun who will continue the unwise direction he is going, all the while campaigning for the job he now holds. Meanwhile, Democrats will not allow us to drill for more oil. There will be no more use of clean coal, because Obama said he would eliminate jobs related to it through strict, unrealistic rules and regulations.
Once again, America will be held hostage to those Middle Eastern countries that have the world on a string. While the economy continues to spin out of control and the prices of energy and food go sky high, please thank our new president. From now on, America’s gains and losses belong to him.
Those warm and fuzzy, nurturing environmentalists are terribly worried about global warming, so Democrats prefer going green. They will stop anything — other than their own whimsy — to disrupt our nation’s energy. There will be no new nuclear plants built as long as “that one” has his say.
Did you know that Obama’s inauguration set the record for gas-guzzling private jets? Amazing!
Congratulations to 59-plus million Americans who voted for socialism and a man with whom we will have to contend for at least four miserable years. And a hearty applause of appreciation to the others who knew better and voted for their country. May God bless America and those who love “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Eliminating DOE a Good Start to Deficit Reduction
Thirty one years ago the Department of Energy (DOE) was established during the Carter Administration. They currently have 16,000 federal employees, and approximately 100,000 contract employees. Their proposed budget is up 4.7% from 2008. No one seems to know why the DOE was founded. The reason given 31 years ago was “to lessen our dependence on foreign oil”. Instituted on 8/4/77, the DOE is asking for 25.2 billion in discretionary funding in the US annual budget for 2009.
Certainly our dependence on foreign oil wasn’t 65 % thirty-one years ago. And thirty-one years from now, unless we’re allowed to drill in the US, our dependence will be much higher than 65 %. Currently, OPEC owns well over 70 % of existing oil producers. There is no agency controlling what OPEC can charge for a barrel of oil. There is no entity that can stop OPEC from gouging at will if it deems it is the most profitable route.
Drilling in the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) of the US, as well as the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) will significantly reduce our dependence on foreign oil. The DOE is unnecessary for elimination of that dependence. Right now, OPEC controls how much a barrel of oil will cost, and how much we will pay at the pump.
Elimination of 25.2 billion/yr will push America towards a balanced budget. In fact, if one looks at the current Executive Departments (15), many can be axed from the list, especially the DOE. Necessary departments such as Defense, Treasury, Security, Justice, Veterans Affairs, and Health and Human Services should stay. Most others add huge amounts of government jobs which produce nothing, and could at least have their expenditures whittled down.
The United Nations gets over $3 billion/yr from the US. Billions get pumped into population control and abortion programs (highly popular with UN). It’s time to jettison the entire UN when abortion and condoms are their main attack on population, especially when the world population starts to go downhill in 2020 directly due to killing the most defenseless by abortion and the rock-falling fertility rate. Those costs are only the tip of the iceberg.
Obama wants CO2 reductions because of “alleged” man-made global warming. But all data points to global cooling now. Many fail to acknowledge a “closed-system” of carbon on earth. Carbon emitted now could have been emitted 100,000 years ago, or even 100 years ago.
Ethanol from corn has been mandated as an additive to some gasoline to reduce global warming. Food riots (Mona Charen/National Review) have already erupted in Egypt, Cameroon, Indonesia, Ethiopia, and other nations due to escalating price of corn. In the US, the added food cost from the ethanol-use mandate was $15 billion in 2007 alone (Purdue University).
It is also (SCIENCE) estimated greenhouse gas emissions from corn ethanol nearly double those from gasoline for each kilometer driven. Another (SCIENCE) estimate finds clearing lands for energy crops creates a so-called carbon “debt” by releasing 17 to 420 times more CO2 than the annual reductions these biofuels would provide by displacing fossil fuels—if one assumes that CO2 causes global warming in the first place.
America can reduce taxes any time we decide. It just depends for whom one votes, and what our priorities are.

So Barack Obama proposes massive government spending like we have never seen before as our way back to economic prosperity. Yet wasn’t it a mountain of unpayable debt that got us into this financial crisis in the first place? The rivers of red ink he proposes would make FDR and LBJ blush. This approach may have worked politically for FDR and LBJ, but neither time did it work economically for the country. It may work politically for Obama too, but deficit spending will not work economically today either.
Banana republics are known for this kind of governance. It is a recipe for a treasury default or hyperinflation that no industrialized county has seen since Germany’s Weimar Republic in the 1920s. And that debacle sewed the seeds for the despotism of the Third Reich.
Obama is a smart guy. He can’t possibly be naive enough to think more debt piled on the existing $10.6 trillion national debt is the solution to the economic mess we are in. Recessions are a natural part of the economic cycle and only market forces can correct them. One can only wonder about his true motives.
A common characteristic of all authoritarian regimes is the need to control their populace by some crisis, real or imagined. Could it be that the genuine financial crisis we now face will give Obama and the Left a ready-made excuse to regulate, tax, socialize and otherwise control our lives in unprecedented ways?
Over the past year, the American public has learned a bit about community organizers from Chicago. The first among them to come to mind is Barack Obama. Then there is William Ayres. However, another individual is the mentor to them all. He is Saul Alinsky.
Alinsky is considered a father of American radicalism. His 1971 book, “Rules for Radicals” laid out the uncompromising tactics necessary to force radical change upon society. These rules have come to define the lawless methods of Leftist protestors and activists since the Vietnam era. Now, more than ever, the disregard of constitutional principles by the Left threatens the personal liberties of all Americans.
Obama is the latest and most successful Alinkyite ever to gain power. He is a charismatic cross between a 1960s radical and a Chicago machine politician. His campaign was a testament to the policy of having no principle other than to do whatever was necessary to win.
To paraphrase Rahm Emanuel, this is certainly a crisis too great for the Left to waste. This could be a once in a lifetime opportunity to push their agenda wholesale upon the American people. The worsening recession opens the way for government intervention on a scale greater than the New Deal or the Great Society. A Republican administration has already paved the way. And the people, wanting action, will accept any stimulus package of any size no matter what the consequences to the deficit.
Fear makes normally constitutionally minded people behave in strange ways. When someone is about to lose his job or her life savings, most people will sacrifice their personal freedoms to prevent that from happening. Self-survival trumps rationality, and the herd mentality soon becomes mob rule. The rule of law becomes the rule of men. In such an emotionally charged atmosphere, most people run to anyone who offers them any glimmer of hope. And for many people today, that person is Barack Obama.
As Obama said recently, “this painful crisis also gives us an opportunity to transform our economy to improve the lives of ordinary people.” Transformation is a key word. Crisis gives him the opportunity, and now he has the personal mandate to do it.
The erosions of the constitutional liberties will probably be gradual. Each step will have its explanation. The fawning media will cheer it on. And Obama will provide a reasoned justification for it all. Yet it is an illusion. The skeptics among us would say the real game is about tightening the Leftist grip on power.
Think about it. We have the $700 billion TARP bailout and an $800 billion stimulus package. These come in addition to the $407 billion general deficit , plus more than $140 billion for AIG, more than $100 billion for Fannie and Freddie, $29 billion for Bear Stearns, $20 billion for CitiGroup, and $25 billion for the auto companies. While some of funds overlap and will be recovered, it is fair to say the total deficit will far exceed $1 trillion. And all that is before Obama takes office. Then there is his promise of universal health care and other social programs.
Federal, state and local government spending already consumes about one-third of the Gross Domestic Product. Obama proposals, if enacted, could conceivably grow the total government spending to more than 40 percent of the GDP. Obama seems to believe we can borrow our way out a crisis that was created by borrowing in the first place. It is a house of cards.
We are headed either for national bankruptcy or inflation so great that the dollar becomes worthless. Crisis drives fear, which drives rapid change in our national fabric toward collective socialism. Once the people become dependant on a government rescue in their lives, the social programs Obama enacts will become a fixture in Washington never to be undone. It is all right out of the Alinsky playbook.
Constitutionally minded people have fought the socialist agenda for years. Yet they’ve never fought it with so much of government controlled by the Left while led by such a charismatic leader. Soon enough, Bush will be a memory and Obama will own the economic mess with no answers except more government. Unemployment, inflation, and other economic maladies will painfully show themselves no matter what spin is used to explain them.
Conservatives must frame the conversation in a reasoned way based on less regulation and the unharnessing of free enterprise. Therein lies the only true strategy for renewed economic growth. The conservative position will require a very energetic and skillful response by the GOP to stop the incremental governmental control over society by the Obama and the Left. It will require Republicans to pull themselves together and rediscover the principles for which they truly stand. Let’s hope they can do it before it is too late.

Many people aren’t aware that when their school participates in Campbell’s “Labels for Education” program they are supporting a company that has openly come out in support of homosexual marriage, and it has no intentions of stopping that support.
“Labels for Education” provides equipment for schools in exchange for proofs of purchase from the family of Campbell’s brands.
Many of the schools that participate don’t know that Campbell’s supports the homosexual publication The Advocate with advertising. The Advocate is a leading promoter of same-sex marriage.
AFA asked Campbell’s to be neutral in the culture war. Campbell’s refused and said it would continue to support The Advocate. The Media Daily News reported that a Campbell spokesman was quoted as saying: “Our plans for the Swanson brand [a division of Campbell’s] include additional placements in The Advocate.” To show their commitment to same-sex marriage, Campbell’s sought out and featured two “married” lesbians and their son in one of the ads.

Hamas wants Israel “wiped off the map”. From the war zone in Israel, Michael Evans (Founder/Jerusalem Prayer Team) states since 2001, more than 10,000 missiles and mortars have been fired into Southern Israel by Hamas.
Hamas started this recent round of violence with its rockets. Israel has been imploring Hamas (Jerusalem Post) for weeks to stop. The response from the Islamists: they reserved the right to resist “the occupation”, specifically the existence of a Jewish state.
In Times of London (3/2008), a Hamas commander said “Iran is our mother. She gives us information, military supplies and financial support.” It’s a given Hamas is being funded by Iran, with Bush recently labeling Iran as a “terrorist state”.
Press TV insists 25% of the deaths in Gaza have been civilian. In actuality, many civilian deaths are due to Hamas targeting the rival Fatah organization. This “other” war has been largely ignored by the media. Founded by Yassir Arafat, Fatah just lost a narrow election to Hamas. Jerusalem Post says thirty-five Fatah activists have been executed, and over 70 being shot in the legs, or their hands broken.
Israel has traded so much land for peace that its geographic outline is hardly recognizable. They have agreed to numerous attempts at setting up a separate Palestinian nation-state. The Israeli-Palestinian peace plan Bush organized in 11/2007 (Annapolis Conference) with representatives of 49 countries, was likely nullified with the attacks.
Compound this with the 21st condemnation of Israel by the UN Human Rights Council. Hillel Neuer (UN Watch) says this is a “UN wink and nod to terror...and is once again sending Iran and its violent proxies all the wrong signals.” Rachel Marsden (TownHall) reveals Bush had just given Palestinian refugees another $85 million through the UN.
Obviously, all-out war should not be advocated, and all Palestinians are not evil. But the definition of a just war by Israel this fits this perfectly, and the time to ‘cease fire’ was before Hamas fired their rockets. Anywhere in the world, attacks as those in Israel would likely have risked invasion or even annihilation of the attacking government.
By current media reasoning, America should not have declared war on Japan for Pearl Harbor, but just bombed one of their harbors. Maybe when a terrorist wants to annihilate you, a different tact should be taken.

Catholics especially are continuously castigated for conducting the Crusades in the middle ages. Most non-Catholics seem to remember the Crusades as stories of barbarian savagery and brutality. Even today, most Muslims consider the Crusades a symbol of western hostility towards Muslims, with Western invasions motivated by their greed and hatred for Muslims. But for some reason, actual history is not recounted.
The traditional Crusades numbered nine during the 11th through 13th centuries. In reality, the crusades continued until the 17th century. But the Pope only “blessed” the first five. Therefore Catholicism, as a religion, was only responsible for those first five.
In Christ the King (Lord of History), Anne Carroll describes how Muslims were the aggressors of the Christians starting in the 7th century. Those attacks by Muslims were still going on through the 11th century. Finally, in 1071, after a major defeat of the Catholic Byzantine Empire, the Emperor (Alexius Commenus) appealed to the Pope for aid against the Muslims (the First Crusade).
The Crusaders were justified in defending themselves against Muslim attacks, and also had to go on the offensive to prevent future attacks. The cause made the war a just one. Pope Urban II knew it was appropriate to defend the innocent and helpless against attacks, and to regain only those originally Christian territories like the conquered Holy Land and the Holy Sepulcher (a structure in Jerusalem containing deposits of many sacred relics). At no point did the Crusaders attack the Muslim homeland of Arabia.
But abuses seem foremost on peoples’ minds when thinking about the Crusades. The Sack of Jerusalem and the Sack of Constantinople were the two atrocities that seem to revolve in everyone’s mind. In the final onslaught as some of the Crusaders entered Jerusalem all their pent-up frustration erupted. They killed many innocent people. The behavior was totally against the promises these men had made upon knighthood, and stained what would otherwise been a remarkable victory.
Leaders like Godfrey de Boullion, Raymond of Toulouse, and knights of Southern France did not participate, nor in any way approve of the Sack of Jerusalem. But soon after the conquest of Jerusalem, the Knights of St. John was organized as a new religious community. They took vows to dedicate their lives to God as did the monks in Europe. They were also entrusted with the protection of the Holy Sepulcher.
By the Fourth Crusade, great wealth had accumulated in Constantinople. But with no money from the new emperor, Crusaders broke into the city and for three days looted, burned and killed. This sack produced such justifiable resentment in the minds of the Byzantines that any hope for reunion of the Greek Orthodox Church with Rome was destroyed.
A Christian Knight who refused to take part in the Sack of Constantinople was Simon de Montfort. Even after the sack, Pope Innocent III excommunicated those responsible for the outrage.
For the most part, the Crusades were generally unsuccessful. But with the threat of Christian extinction in the East, Catholics unified under the banner of the cross. In the time of the Crusades, Catholics were the only Christians that existed. Pope John Paul II has repeatedly asked for forgiveness for those atrocities committed during the Crusades.
Without a doubt, if the West had done nothing, eastern Christianity would have been eliminated by radical Muslims. In Matthew [13:24-30], Jesus did indicate that there would be sinners standing next to saints in the Faith. God will separate them at Judgment Day, so we shouldn’t be surprised when we see people who claim to be Catholic performing terrible acts. And even today many Catholics, in name only, voted for Obama signaling the death of millions by abortion.
Some other positive aspects of the Crusades were the opening of trade routes between the east and west, and dramatic advances in several scientific disciplines. With the Crusades we must couple the origin of the geographical exploration made by Marco Polo, and even later the spirit of the true Crusader in Christopher Columbus when he undertook his perilous voyage to unknown America.
In fact, we could credit the Crusades for stopping the onslaught of Islam in America in general, the subjugation of women to second class citizens, and changing of world history as a whole. But most of us were under the impression the Crusades were an unnecessary bloodbath.
The new administration’s stance to radical Islam must be questioned however, for Islamic terrorists’ persistent advances. Likely, the entire educational system needs to rethink about the correct portrayal of Catholics and the Crusades.

Fifty year ago, experts stated that Peak Oil would be reached by the year 2000. Now, most experts [Oilempire.us] say that this number will probably be in the year 2020. If you knew you were being told that a product would soon be in low supply, and you believed it, you could raise prices on a whim.
US Mineral Management Services (MMS) reveals that natural leakage of oil from the ocean floor is 620,500 barrels per year around North America alone. Considering that the world ocean area is over ten times that area, it can easily be extrapolated that at least 6 million barrels per year leak out into the world oceans.
Something’s not being tapped with that kind of natural leakage. In North America alone, the leakage equals 2.5 Exxon Valdez spills every year. Worldwide, that’s at least twenty-five Exxon Valdez spills.
On 10/15/08, American Airlines bought forty large aircraft for $8 billion. It seems they know something. Any smart investor doesn’t make an investment that big, without realizing that Peak Oil is a little further down the road than 2020 --that is, if it occurs at all.
Regulation will not permit oil drilling on 85% of the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS), [geologists estimate 85 billion barrels of oil available]. In the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), it’s estimated there’s 7.7 billion barrels untapped. Include The National Environmental Policy Act, The Endangered Species Act, The Clean Water Act, and The National Historic Preservation Act as the major culprits passed by a Democrat-controlled Congress blocking drilling.
The US remains the only industrialized nation prohibiting offshore oil recovery. The largest US refined oil producer ExxonMobil currently owns less than 1.2 % of the known world oil reserves. But, it has invested more than $60 billion, and by 2010 plans to begin pumping oil or gas from no fewer than 20 additional projects.
A “windfall profits tax” imposed by the US government—already planned by the Obama Administration—will provide a major incentive to move headquarters abroad. This is incentive for any American oil company to drill in any other country. There has been a 59% decline in US oil production since windfall profits tax was initiated in 1980. It was recently eliminated late in the Bush Administration, but Obama promises to reinstate the tax right after he is inaugurated.
But new information has surfaced about abiotic oil formation, originally thought to be a scientific hypothesis about the natural formation of petroleum from non-biological sources. Since then, innumerable and conventionally unexplainable sources have been found. The White Tiger oil field in Vietnam, the Tengiz Field (Kazakhstan), the Panhandle Field (Kansas), and other cases in California, Venezuela, and Morocco which have oil likely seeping from fractures from below. Russia has drilled over 300 deep wells and has surpassed Saudi Arabia as the world’s biggest single oil producer.
On 2/1/08, Science presented more evidence for abiotic theory. Lead scientist Giora Proskurowski (Oceanography/University of Washington) says the hydrogen rich fluids venting in the Lost City Hydrothermal Field were produced by abiotic synthesis of hydrocarbons. Carbon dating of petroleum is a reliable way to determine if an oil source is abiotic. Proskurowski found hydrocarbons that contained carbon-13 isotopes found from abiotic production. Carbon-12 isotopes seem to evolve from fossil petroleum.
Lost City is a hydrothermal field 2100 feet below sea level right along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. In 2003 and 2005 Proskurowski and his team descended to collect abiotic liquid from the Lost City sea vents. Whether abiotic oil is produced naturally is moot. The real question, “How much is produced, and is it accessible?” It is known that abiotic oil normally exists below 30,000 feet, much further than 18,000 where there is no organic matter.
Oil sources seem plentiful: Athabasca Tar Sands (Canada), Oil Shale (Colorado/), 2 million barrels/yr expansion in Ghawar (Saudi Arabia/ Business Week), and massive new offshore drilling in Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, Brazil, Africa, and the Barents Sea (Energy Tribune/ Matt Pickard). Extensive drilling in the Arctic Sea, claimed by Russia, by Petro Canada and Dome Petroleum discovered significant oil. That doesn’t count all the new resources America has, but cannot drill because of environmental regulations.
It seems as if one party wants to increase our oil dependence, as well as oil prices. Per Alan Caruba (Family Security Matters), “If you wanted to bring the US to ruin, you could not have designed and implemented a more perfect scheme.” One hang-up exists that one just can’t get over. The total oil pumped out of the earth to date, exceeds the total organic matter buried through history. Maybe we need more carbon dating of all wells.
