BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.  Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

Decline of the Ham Sandwich: Precursor to Armageddon?

BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Decline of the Ham Sandwich: Precursor to Armageddon?
Satire by John W. Lillpop

Although my formal education in theology is negligible (zero), I am spiritually enlightened enough to know that the Almighty uses “signs” to warn his flocks of impending doom.

Examples from the beginning of time include earthquakes, and rumors of earthquakes, wars, floods, pestilence, tsunamis, and other catastrophic events, like the Democrats regaining majority control of the U.S. Congress.

All of these are warnings from on high which, when accompanied by blaring trumpets and angels dressed in black, are His way of letting us know that the end is nigh.
With respect to kicking Democrats out of Congress, Dear Lord, we pray that you will deliver us from that evil, sooner rather than later!

A new and very ominous sign is now emerging, and this one involves fundamental American values. Should this travesty take hold, it could lead to the end of western civilization, as we now know it.

The issue: Liberalism gone amuck has reached the point where the Ham Sandwich, symbol of all that is good and holy in America, is under assault.

Example: Wantonly leaving a ham sandwich on a dining table at which Muslims are seated is a Hate Crime in certain communities overly infested with liberalism.

Here: http://www.americandaily.com/article/18540

Future horror: Mentioning ham sandwiches within 2,500 yards of any mosque may be designated as Hate Speech and could lead to an arrest.

Praise be to Allah?

Recognize, please, the gravity of this situation: Eliminating the ham sandwich could be the final blow to America the great.

Without a ham sandwich to practice on, aspiring prosecutors might end up violating legal ethics, like Mike Nifong did with his outrageous indictment of the Duke University lacrosse team. Or an attorney without ham sandwich training might convict a person who has committed no crime, as Patrick Fitzgerald did to Scooter Libby.

Bottom Line: The ham sandwich is vital to American jurisprudence, and must not be tampered with, Allah notwithstanding!

Next: Consider the impact on America’s political system. Without pork to dispense and trade, politicians from both parties would unable to function.

There would be no war funding bills passed, and no “bridges to no where” for Alaska. The term “earmark” would become obsolete were pork banned from the hallowed halls of the U.S. Congress.

On the crime and terrorism front, medical studies not yet released indicate that “ham sandwich deprivation” can lead to violent and anti-social behavior such as ramming jet planes into buildings, suicide bombings, and decapitation of infidels for sins against Allah, like believing that the Holocaust actually took place.

Going against the grain of liberalism, nutritionists and anti-terror experts are recommending that Muslims be forced to eat ham sandwiches, starting with children in day care centers, in order to enhance homeland security.

The theory is that by converting all those scrawny 110 pound potential terrorists into 300 pound “typical” Americans, we might be able to prevent another 9/11.

Too fat to hate is the technical medical term.

Asked to comment on the latest developments, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said:

“The problem is not with Jihad or Muslims. The real tragedy is that George W. Bush has eaten way too many ham sandwiches for good mental health.

“We need to remove all pork from the White House kitchen. Maybe then we will have a chance to end the war and save America!”

As always, Nancy says it like no one else can--or would if they could!

The Real Link Between Solar Energy, Ocean Cycles And Global Temperature

The Real Link Between Solar Energy, Ocean Cycles And Global Temperature
May 21, 2008
By Stephen Wilde
Right Side News & CO2Skeptics

This article expands and updates my previous articles and should be read with them.
Failure of IPCC to properly consider Solar Influence which is about the failure of the IPCC to properly consider solar influences and The link between solar cycle length and decadal global temperature which explains that according to real world observations the matter of solar cycle length is very significant.

Variations in solar energy as a driver for global climate change have been wholly discounted by the IPCC and climate modellers on the basis that something they call Total Solar Irradiance has not changed enough between 1975 and 1998 to make a significant contribution to the climate warming observed during that period.

It is because solar influences have been discounted that the IPCC and climate modellers have been determined to attribute most of the observed warming during that period to an enhanced greenhouse effect caused by CO2 produced by human activity.

Consequently the climate models currently in use contain no solar effects as a component.

This article shows that they are wrong and that, in fact, solar energy is and always has been the overwhelming primary driver for global temperature with CO2 such a minor component that it should be ignored. Due to the differences in scale between the solar effect and the effect of CO2 the latter is only ever going to have a marginal effect at and around the peak of any natural warming trend and is unlikely to activate any tipping point that would not have been activated by natural cause. Indeed, during natural cooling spells CO2 will be a wholly beneficial mitigating factor.

This article will then go on to identify the additional parameters apart from solar activity that will need to be measured to give us a workable if approximate predictor of global temperature movements.

Showing that solar energy has been the predominant driver throughout history prior to the industrial revolution is not difficult.

‘The Past and Future of Climate’
http://www.lavoisier.com.au/papers/Conf2007/Archibald2007.pdf

To my mind David Archibald provides the most convincing narrative for global temperature prior to the industrial revolution which is, of course, when mankind first developed the industrial technology that relied upon activities producing significant quantities of man made CO2 emissions. He is also very persuasive up to the present and into the future.

It can safely be said that for some time after the commencement of the industrial revolution the amount of CO2 produced by man was insufficient to be implicated in climate change.

In fact, the production of anthropogenic CO2 did not really start to escalate at a substantial rate until after World War 2. Since then the modernisation and industrialisation of the world has been increasingly rapid with more and more CO2 being produced to support a greatly increased world population at ever higher average standards of living. Accordingly we do not really need to consider the balance between solar energy and man made CO2 as climate drivers until 1945.

The period from 1945 to about 1960 was not a good time to consider the causes of climate change because the world was more concerned about a recovery from global conflict. Additionally it was not a good time to investigate the matter for separate climate related reasons.

At this point it is helpful to refer to the following link:

Ocean oscillations are not “masking” global warming: the cooling is real
http://errortheory.blogspot.com/2008/04/ocean-oscillations-are-not-masking.html

I find Mr. Rawls very helpful in illustrating the effect of time lags between solar input and oceanic oscillations.

His article readily demonstrates that the lag between solar input and the reaction of the oceans can easily offset, interrupt or disguise the direct connection between solar variation and global temperatures.

He shows that despite powerful solar cycles 18 and 19 the global temperature had already started to decline before the weak solar cycle 20 which then compounded a cooling process until about 1975.

The reason was that the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) was out of phase with the solar variations. My proposition is that during solar cycles 18 and 19 the PDO was still reacting to earlier weaker solar cycles. Bear in mind that PDO cycles are about 30 years long whereas solar cycles are about 11 years long so there is bound to be a substantial but variable discontinuity.

At this point I now bring into play my own theory set out in the following article:

CO2 Skeptics News Blog: Global Warming and Cooling - The Reality,
http://co2sceptics.com/news.php?id=1041

As readers will see I have set out my opinion that solar energy directly drives PDO/ENSO and that PDO/ENSO together with similar cyclic oscillations in all the other oceans combine to drive global temperature up or down regardless of the level of CO2 in the atmosphere. However strong the greenhouse effect is, more heat coming in will cause a rise in temperature and less heat coming in will cause a fall in temperature. CO2 only affects the point of equilibrium, not the actual temperature. All CO2 does is increase the residence time of some of the heat in the atmosphere. CO2 does not create additional heat and it’s influence declines the more of it there is. In fact some say that at 380ppm in the atmosphere it has already used up all of it’s available greenhouse potential. The IPCC projections rely on the CO2 present causing an increase in water vapour which is the main greenhouse gas. However their models ignore all the characteristics of the planet that reduce the greenhouse effect of water vapour such as increased cloudiness, increased rainfall and increased convection.

One of the most important points to note in my other article is my comment that from time to time the other oceanic cycles can operate in the opposite mode to PDO/ENSO thereby offsetting it until any lag is worked through.

It logically follows that, from time to time, the other oceanic cycles can operate in conjunction with PDO/ENSO to emphasise the effect on the global temperature.

Before it is safe to attribute a global warming or a global cooling effect to any other factor (CO2 in particular) it is necessary to disentangle the simultaneous overlapping positive and negative effects of solar variation, PDO/ENSO and the other oceanic cycles. Sometimes they work in unison, sometimes they work against each other and until a formula has been developed to work in a majority of situations all our guesses about climate change must come to nought.

So, to be able to monitor and predict changes in global temperature we need more than information about the past, current and expected future level of solar activity.

We also need to identify all the separate oceanic cycles around the globe and ascertain both the current state of their respective warming or cooling modes and, moreover, the intensity of each, both at the time of measurement and in the future.

Once we have a suitable formula I believe that changes in global temperature will no longer be a confusing phenomenon and we will be able to apportion the proper weight to other influencing factors such as the greenhouse effect of CO2.

At the moment the weight given to the effect of CO2 in the models is just a guess.

It seems that some years ago it was noticed that the models of global temperature were diverging from real world observations. The modellers were unaware of the cause so they guessed at CO2 and attributed a warming capacity for CO2 just sufficient to bring the models into line with reality. They then announced that man made CO2 was a primary cause of global temperature changes and the bandwagon started to roll.

With respect to all concerned I do not consider that to have been a right or proper course of action. The cause of the discrepancy they observed could have been down to CO2 or it could have been down to other factors or even a combination of multiple alternative factors.

What they did was a perfectly sensible experiment. It was however irresponsible to trumpet it as the solution and to rely on it up to today.

When one conducts an experiment such as that then the proper approach is to recognise that it is only an experiment and then watch out for any new divergence between the models and the real world. The scale and timing of any new divergence is a useful indicator of where else one should look for new data to further improve the fit between the models and reality.

Instead the new divergences that have arisen have been discounted as evidence that the adjustment for the influence of CO2 was wrong in quantity. The models are not reflecting real world activity. They did not anticipate the stall in temperature trend which the Hadley Centre accepts has occurred since 1998 and they certainly did not anticipate the cooling down which appears to have commenced in 2007.

The mechanisms referred to by David Archibald and others do, however, account for those changes and moreover those changes were predicted in advance.
So which approach is proving more accurate and useful in the real world ?

Having observed the apparent failure of the models with their speculative CO2 component and having seen the relative success of the solar and astronomic influences at anticipating real world changes I have written this article to draw attention to what I consider to be the underlying real world process of global temperature change. Global temperature is controlled quite precisely (although it is difficult to calculate) by solar energy modulated by a number of overlapping and interlinked oceanic cycles each operating on different time scales and being of varying intensities, sometimes offsetting one another and sometimes complementing one another.

Any other single influence such as an enhanced greenhouse effect from CO2 is just one of a plethora of other potential but relatively minor influences which as often as not offset one another and leave the solar/oceanic driver unchallenged in terms of scale.

I can emphasise the importance of this issue for our near future by examining the period 1940 to 2008.

From around 1940 solar input was high during cycles 18 and 19 but then it reduced for a while during solar cycle 20 but (importantly) PDO was negative throughout. That remained the basic scenario until 1975. The background warming from two very active solar cycles 18 and 19 was cancelled out and then when we experienced the weaker cycle 20 combined with the continuing negative PDO we legitimately feared global cooling.

From 1975 to about 2000 PDO was positive and we experienced powerful solar cycles 21, 22 and the peak of 23 (which although less intense than the other two had a double peak). That combination produced the level of global warming that led to such concern from the IPCC and the modellers. It is important to note that taken together solar cycles 18, 19, 21, 22 and the double peak of cycle 23 produced the most intense period of solar activity since the Maunder minimum and that period of weak solar activity produced frigid conditions which, if repeated now, would be disastrous for our much more highly populated world. One only has to look at China’s reports of last winter’s ‘climate crisis’ to see that certain areas of China were rendered uninhabitable for a time.

In my personal opinion it was criminal for the IPCC and the modellers to ignore all that on the basis of some nebulous concept termed Total Solar Irradiance.

On the basis of the information in the public domain about solar cycles and the positive PDO it should have been blatantly obvious that the world would warm up without the need to speculate on a contribution from CO2 or anything else. But, no, they left the solar component out of the models and saw no significance in a positive PDO.

That brings me to the present scenario that I find rather worrying.

As Mr. Rawls points out we now have a less active sun combined with the start of a negative PDO.

Thus:

1) Active sun in cycles 18 and 19 then a less active sun in cycle 20 plus a negative PDO = cancelling out of expected warming followed by cooling when the sun gets less active in cycle 20 (!940 to 1975).

2) Active sun during cycles 21, 22 and the double peak of 23 plus positive PDO = significant warming. (1975 to 1998)

3) Slightly quieter sun during extended tail end of cycle 23 plus positive PDO = stable temperatures. (1998 to 2007).

4) Quiet sun as cycle 23 fizzles out and cycle 24 is deferred plus a negative PDO = Rather chilly in my opinion. (2007 to 20 ?)

Could it be that the IPCC and the modellers have been completely wrong footed and are now recommending exactly the opposite policy decisions to those that the world really needs?

I should emphasise the problems ahead of us if the solar driver theory is correct.

It would mean that the current cooling process will consolidate and continue for decades. I would prefer to be wrong because crops will fail, growing areas reduce, summers shorten and the environments suitable for plant and animal life will shrink towards the equator again after the past few decades of northward and southward expansion.

The past few decades that led to such painful heart searching will, in retrospect, look like very pleasant times.

Now I’m not saying that all this will necessarily come to pass but the evidence I have produced must be persuasive enough to establish that nothing is settled and that in policy terms we should become a great deal more cautious and cover the possibilities of both possible resumed warming and also the possibility of much more painful cooling.

By all means do what we can to preserve resources and improve efficiency but if we really are in for a period of cooling we should be far more liberal than is currently proposed about the use of fossil fuels and energy generally.

On balance I would prefer to see evidence that CO2 has sufficient influence on our climate to mitigate the cooling threat that we have before us but I see none. All the temperature changes of the 20th Century are readily explicable without involving CO2 at all and the first decade of the 21st Century is continuing the pattern.

Indeed, I would very much like to be wrong but the evidence is not supportive of an imminent runaway warming. Would a responsible policy maker ignore everything I have said? All I have done is pull together information that is already available. What are all those think tanks and experts doing for their salaries ? If they already have evidence to disprove everything in this article and make me a laughing stock then let them produce it.

All this reminds me of 1976.

A Minister for Drought was appointed and within weeks the drought ended and has not been repeated.

It is a fact of life that, in this world, by the time human institutions have devised a policy, the world has moved on and the policy becomes redundant and counterproductive.

I hope that both the planet and the IPCC can show my concerns to have been misguided.

WMDs in Iraq Proven

WMDs in Iraq Proven
by Kevin Roeten

It’s difficult to argue with five separate nonbiased sources, as well as over 150,000 military firsthand witnesses. But some of the public still persist in believing that Iraqi WMDs didn’t exist.

First, from The Terrorist Watch(1) we hear from George Piro, the last confidante of Saddam Hussein for eight months leading up to his execution. Piro states that Hussein was indeed trying to acquire nuclear capability, and claimed his WMDs were not usable since 1991.

Second, Shadow Warriors(2) documents US troops on the way to Baghdad in 2003 found caches of chemical weapons precursors, biological weapons programs, and plans for a nuclear weapons program. There was a CNN camera crew along with the soldiers, but they never reported the truth.

Timmerman (Shadow Warriors) was the first Western reporter who ever interviewed Hussein’s heads of weapons programs. He stated [with proof] in 2003 there were hundreds of weapons plants all over the country. The UN, France, Russia, China, and the mainstream media knew about it but they all chose to ignore the evidence. Of course, most were on the ‘take’ in the Oil-for-Food program (paragraph #8).

Thirdly, the most damning information came from an insider who exposed Hussein’s plans to destroy Israel, hide his WMDs, and control the Arab world. In Saddam’s Secrets(3) Iraqi General Georges Sada, one of Hussein’s top generals and military advisors, became dangerous.

As a former Iraqi fighter pilot, Sada was a Christian. He insists Hussein did have WMDs both before and after 1991. He says they were used in artillery shells, cannons, and aerial dispersion of toxins. Instead of “OK, let’s use WMDs on this one”, Iraqis sometimes said “Special mission with special weapons.” Allied Intelligence did not realize those words actually meant the field commanders were to use chemicals.

Sada knew WMDs were Hussein’s obsession for over 30 years. German, French, and Russian scientists had helped the Iraqi engineers begin the process for enriching uranium for nuclear weapons. It was these three countries that voted against the Allied invasion to depose Hussein.

With 2200 companies [AP(10/28/05)] in 66 countries involved with Food-for-Oil, Hussein amassed more than $11 billion in personal wealth, while starving regular Iraqi citizens. Shiploads of goods from Russia and France labeled in shipping manifests as “replacement parts” or “factory equipment” was actually missile guidance systems and rocket engines. All documented.

On 6/04 Demetrius Perricos (UNMOVIC) made it clear Hussein had smuggled WMDs before, during, and after the [1st Gulf] war. Perricos showed documents recovered in Jordan, Turkey, and the Netherlands revealing thousands of tons of biological warheads had been shipped out of Iraq by Hussein.

UNSCOM reports that there were dozens of known active WMD production facilities during the 1990s. Per Sada, Akashat and Al Qaim facilities produced refined uranium ore. Rashidiya was for centrifuge design and testing. The al-Sharqat reactor site was still under construction when coalition forces attacked in 1991.

On 6/4/02 a three-mile long irrigation dam in Syria collapsed. Syrian president Bashar al-Assad asked for help from Jordan and Iraq. It was a perfect cover story for Hussein to use commercial airliners (Boeing 747 and 727’s) to carry deadly toxins out of Iraq. These airliners were used for transporting hundreds of tons of chemicals, and armaments into Syria under the cover of a mission of mercy for the irrigation dam flood.

Eventually there were 56 sorties by air, and many more by trucks and ambulances. The Los Angeles Times (12/30/03) broke the story confirming Syria’s role in undermining sanctions—with names, dates, and places. Many, including a civilian pilot, witnessed the 747 going back and forth from Iraq to Syria, and confirmed all the above.

Even with proof of Hussein’s WMDs, many Americans would not agree to admit it. Timmerman’s repeated questions to the White House about not revealing the truth invariably got the reply “We’ve lost that one [in the media]. Why go and fight a battle that we’ve already lost?”

But knowing this information, most Americans would realize that the war was justified, Bush possibly knew more than was once thought, and blind hatred for Bush’s domestic policies could also be in error.

Hussein was developing WMDs well after 1991, intended to use them, and hid most of them in Syria before the allied invasion for Hussein. Israel always knew Hussein had WMDs, and said so. In a 7/03 interview with CNN, Bill Clinton said, “…but it is incontestable that on the day I left office, there were unaccounted-for stocks of biological and chemical weapons.”

More details on WMDs are highlighted in published books (4)&(5). It seems as if history will remember Bush, not as one of the worst, but one of the best presidents in history for likely saving so many.

History can be cruel, and will likely be savage without mercy in a few years for those who would not justify the invasion.

SF Mayor Ecstatic over Gay Marriage Ruling
by Sharon Hughes

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom couldn’t have been more ecstatic nor clear about his position on last week’s ruling by the California Supreme Court making gay marriage legal in the state.

“It was an exhilarating feeling, that’s the best I can describe it,” Newsom said after learning of the justices’ ruling. And he was quick to announce to a cheering crowd,
“My God, this is now bigger than San Francisco.”

“As California goes, so goes the rest of the nation. It’s inevitable.”

“This door is wide open now. It’s going to happen whether you like it or not. This is the future, and it’s now.”

In the 4-3 vote, judges have made California the second state in the nation to allow gay marriage. Within 30 days gays and lesbians in California will be able to get a state recognized marriage license. (See video on Court’s ruling here.)

The ruling could be seen as a political victory for Gavin Newsom after his action in February of 2004, which resulted in 4,000 same-sex couples exchanging vows at San Francisco’s City Hall, but which was soon overruled.

I’m sure he will try to ride last week’s victory all the way to the state house in his run for governor in 2010. But will it be a wining strategy for him?

California defined marriage in 2000 with Prop. 22 when voters overwhelmingly (61%) said marriage is between a man and a woman. It was the court, not the people, that overturned that last week.

Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council criticized the Court for its decision saying, “The California Supreme Court has taken a jackhammer to the democratic process, and the right of the people to affect change in public policy. Four judges discarded the votes of 4,618,673 Californians who approved the state’s ‘Defense of Marriage Act.’ Voters understand that children should not be deprived of a mother or a father.”

Because of the efforts of organizations like California’s Campaign for Children and Families a marriage amendment to the state’s constitution is slated to appear on the ballot in the November election. Over 1.1 million California voters signed petitions placing The California Marriage Protection Act on the ballot which will give voters the chance to correct the judicial activism of their state’s highest court, and to once and for all protect the definition of marriage in their state.

Do the people of California have the will to win on this issue again? Yes, I think so. However, if I’m wrong, then I’ll have to agree with Newsom on this one point only—so will go the nation.
In the meantime, what will happen to pastors and rabbis who disagree with the court’s ruling? CBN’s Erick Stakelbeck reported, “There’s been some concern that California pastors may face lawsuits if they refuse to marry gays. But Sarah Seitz of the Washington-based liberty counsel says that won’t happen--Pastors will continue to be protected as they were prior to this decision--based on the free exercise clause--due to the nature of their job and because of their sincerely held religious beliefs. So they will not be forced to perform marriage ceremonies for same sex couples.”

Once again, the debate on gay marriage will intensify in California, and in the presidential campaigns for the White House, as both sides on this issue battle it out as never before leading up to the November election.

BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. The Real Obama - Exceptionally Explained

The Real Obama - Exceptionally Explained

by

Rob Hood

Presidential candidate Barack Obama has been leading the way in the Democratic party as a strong contender for the nominee for quite some time. Right now Hillary Clinton has been the only one to challenge Obama enough to keep him in the race this long. Hillary, though I personally do not like her policies, has been betrayed by some of her own fellow democrats. Ted Kennedy, and recently John Edwards have betrayed Hillary Clinton by pledging their support to Barack Obama for reasons unstated by either.

Hillary and Bill Clinton has been in the public eye long enough to know who they are and where they stand on issues like abortion, gun rights, etc. Some people speculate where Obama stands simply because he is very liberal and even though some speculate his whereabouts on important policies, no one still knows who he is. Or do they?

The April, 2008 issue of Whistleblower, an affiliate of World Net Daily (www.wnd.com)has offered us a closer look at the life of Barack Obama. I encourage anyone who is not sure about Obama to pick up an issue and discuss it with friends. The magazine always has some interesting topic every month, but Whistleblower really went against the grain on this subject.

Usually when someone questions Barack Obama, they are automatically labeled a racist. That’s fine to do, but remember that if your the one doing the labeling, some people just don’t care about false name calling, but only want the truth set free.

This issue of Whistleblower is called “The Secret Life of Barack Obama” and features over 40 pages of need to know information about the life of this political giant.  It includes the story behind Obama’s rise to power, his almost messianic messages and following, his known ideas and opinions about the war in Iraq and war in general, his former pro-Palestinian stance (he changed his position because of politics), his undying pledge of support to the radical gay agenda as well as his blasphemous message connecting the gay rights struggle with Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. The magazine also covers Obama’s former controversial pastor Jeremiah Wright in more depth than any let leaning new media would ever dare to do. Near the end of this issue, there is also a discussion about communist ties to Obama such as his mentor Frank Marshall Davis who has been identified as an imperialist and communist. Not only that but a picture of a flag behind Texas Obama volunteers shows that the flag has an image of Che Guevara, Fidel Castro’s executioner after the communist takeover in Cuba. Why would a liberal democrat feature a picture of a vicious criminal inside a volunteer campaign headquarters?

The April, 2008 issue of Whistleblower is bound to turn heads, spark heated debate, and get people to thinking about who this man really may be. Once again I urge you to do some research for yourself and maybe pick up this issue and start discussing it with friends. It is not often that a magazine devotes a whole monthly issue to one single political figure like this, so I encourage you to take a look at what may be our next president.

BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Ben Stein’s Dangerous Idea

Ben Stein’s Dangerous Idea

By Robert E. Meyer

Ben Stein has a dangerous idea. His idea is that professors and teachers who express skepticism about Darwinism are likely to find themselves not granted tenure, castigated and ridiculed, and disqualified from the opportunity to have research papers published.

Stein documents this in his new movie “Expelled, No Intelligence Allowed.” As you would expect, it is drawing highly critical reviews from the usual suspects. One agitated reviewer on a blog said the movie was filled with half-truths and outright lies. It would be interesting to see what this same source had to say about the latest documentary movies promoted by Al Gore and Michael Moore.

Having reviewed the movie myself, it appeared that Stein was trying to make the case for academic freedom, not attempted to convert anyone to a particular ideological position. Stein, in fact, never makes it known what particular beliefs he holds personally, he merely makes it known that he is disgusted by the idea that someone could lose their job over honest doubts about Darwinism.

Critics will respond to all of this by saying that “Intelligent Design” is not science. Of course not, for to say so would be a semantic or categorical confusion. ID is “science” in the same way that a snowball is “weather.” The snow ball is a result of weather, but not weather itself. Intelligent Design is not science, but a conclusion inferred by applying the scientific method. Asking whether or not a particular object of study is too complex to have evolved by chance is a question germane to scientific examination. Such questions can be quantified by mathematical probabilities.

Any form of “science” that claims it is possible disprove Intelligent Design is no longer applied science, but philosophical speculation. That is really what is so egregious.

The customary way of attacking “crackpots” who have doubts about Darwinism, is usually with appeals to expertise. We will be told that 99.9% of credible scientists believe in Darwinism. The problem is the word “credible.” Since one must believe in Darwinism to be considered credible in the first place, the only question is why the number isn’t 100%. We basically have a meaningless tautology of circular reasoning on our hands.

What I always tell these people is that I don’t care to hear about an appeal to expertise, I want a methodology. Even those who are not scientifically astute should want to philosophically cross examine the cogency Darwinist assertions for themselves.

The are three false assumptions here. First, an implication that expertise equals perfect objectivity. No agenda or orthodox dogma is seen as responsible for the virtually unanimous compliance. Secondly, that all scientists who are cited began with no preconceived biases, and came to their conclusions by following the evidence wherever it led them. Finally, coercion and intimidation have no influence or effects in maintaining the monolithic consensus.

One quickly realizes that both Darwinists and Intelligent Design theorists, use the same scientific methodology in their investigations. What differentiates them is the interpretation of the evidence, the ultimate conclusions, and the presuppositions each group have going into their endeavors.

A belief in either Darwinism or ID is a metaphysical (philosophical or religious) preference, not a scientifically demonstrable fact. As far back as 1874, John Tyndall, in his famous Belfast Address, stated…

“The strength of the doctrine of Evolution consists, not in an experimental demonstration (for the subject is hardly accessible to this mode of proof), but in its general harmony with scientific thought.”

In the 20th century, Aldous Huxley commented about the implications of accepting Darwinism in his treatise Ends and Means…

“For myself, as, no doubt, for most of my contemporaries, the philosophy of meaninglessness was essentially an instrument of liberation. The liberation we desired was simultaneously liberation from a certain political and economic system and liberation from a certain system of morality. We objected to the morality because it interfered with our sexual freedom.”

In Nancy Pearcey’s essay from a few years back, “You Guys Lost, Is Design a Closed Issue?” she states…

“If it can be shown that historically the primary motivation for advancing Darwin’s cause was not so much scientific as philosophical, then the theory loses much of its persuasive force. For scientists have authority to tell us how the natural world functions, but they have no comparable authority to tell us what philosophy we ought to hold. If the motivation for accepting Darwinism was primarily philosophical, then we in the twentieth century are justified in calling for a resurrection of the old debate.”

If we had no other reason for believing that Darwinism was not merely a scientific explanation of origins, but something far more encompassing, any doubts would quickly be dispelled by observing the fervor by which this piece will be rebutted. Had I claimed that gravity was not a physical law, nobody would bother which angry responses. Question Darwinism and you arose passion reserved for those who wantonly desecrate a sacred shrine.

So the important question is not whether ID is science, but whether Darwinism is really philosophy with a scientific patina. One seems to be the opposite side of the coin from the other, but one idea is taught in public education, the other is taboo.

That circles us back to Ben Stein. Stein’s motivation may have been merely to blow the whistle against threats to academic freedom. Maybe the genie that Stein is trying to let out of the bottle is even bigger than he thought.

Safe Sex

100% Guarantee of Safe Sex

It’s been discovered. Nobody thought having “safe sex” was possible in every case. Each year 2.6 million teenagers become sexually active—a rate of 7000/day. With high school, nearly half report having engaged in sexual activity and 1/3 are currently active (Kim/Rector//Heritage Foundation).

As it turns out, teen sexual activity is extremely costly for teens and for society as a whole. From 1985-1990 alone, the federal government spent $120 billion on teenage childbearing. Teens who engage in sexual activity risk all kinds of costly and detrimental outcomes not limited to STD infections, emotional and psychological harm, lower educational attainment, and unmarried childbearing. All of these have direct impact on Medicare, Medicaid, government spending----and the budget.

It is known that STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) infect ~12 million Americans per year, with 65,000 plagued with an incurable form (CDC). STDs are a direct cause of infertility in both men and women [info.med.yale.edu/ycc/releases/release_54_February_24_1999.html].

Nearly ½ of all pregnancies as well as 1 million teen pregnancies (95%) are unintended (CDC), and there are approximately 40,000 new HIV infections per year. An estimated 1.3 million babies die every year through abortion, and 84% of all US abortions are performed on unmarried women (US Dept of Commerce; GPO/1998). Teens who have babies out of wedlock are more likely to end up at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder. All of these numbers have huge economic implications for the country.

But society has found something that works 100% of the time. They found something on which you can completely depend---much better than condoms which may work part of the time. And that’s if you use them right.

The answer is easy, even though many don’t want to hear it--- “abstinence until marriage”. It breaks the unwritten rule of sex on demand. It clearly illuminates the slavery to our desires so many of us face. And it emblazons the oft repeated saying, “Why buy the cow, if the milk is free?”

Self-control is like an immune system. People who abhor sexual-control think they are breaking free, but in reality are breaking down. Control yourself and you will not be repressed—you will be free.

Our children are not animals incapable of controlling themselves and “will do it anyway”. Yet “comprehensive” sex-ed teaches them that they’re just that. But recently, a new study by the research firm Mathematica found that in the five programs that they studied, abstinence-instructed kids showed no statistical change in sexual behavior.

But what was actually learned was this study looked at only five programs out of more than 900 in place. It was also determined this program targeted children 9 to 11 who were not evaluated until four years later. Abstinence Education: Assessing the Evidence (Kim/ Rector) found 16 of the 21 studies completed so far reported positive results, while 5 studies did not report any significant positive results.

Zogby (5/8/07) found that 83% of parents think it is important for their child to wait until marriage to have sex. The Journal of Adolescent and Family Health concluded that a 66% decrease in teen pregnancy was due to teens choosing abstinence. The CDC showed a 53% decrease. But abstinence programs federally funded over the last 11 years still have many critics.

But several dozen Congressional abortion advocates have signed a letter to the House Appropriations Committee asking to cut all funds for abstinence education (Ertelt/LifeNews). According to the CDC, there has been a 13% decrease in the % of teens who have ever had sex between 1991 and 2005. But 17 states have rejected this funding. It’s interesting to note that our government has spent $12 on the Comprehensive sex-ed/Planned Parenthood approach for every $1 spent on true abstinence projects. PP would love to zero-fund its competitors, especially since abstinent kids don’t spend any time in their clinics.

As parents, our offspring are worth everything. We want to keep them from developing STDs, AIDS, HIV, going through abortions, lower educational development, slavery, you name it. We have “abstinence until marriage” which guarantees freedom from the above. And we know simple abstinence education gives significantly better chances from those pitfalls.

Now what would make a parent shy away from 100% chance of surviving an experience with some of the worst occurrences that exist?

Europe: The Dark Continent

Europe: The Dark Continent
By Thomas E. Brewton
http://www.michnews.com/artman/publish/article_20146.shtml

The light of God’s truth has been snuffed out in Europe, now the least Christian and the most secularized and socialized part of the world.

This week, Black Rock Congregational Church is focusing on worldwide missionary programs and the 20-plus missionaries that the church supports. In that connection, rather than a traditional sermon, we at Black Rock-Long Ridge Congregational Church (North Stamford, Connecticut) heard a report by Dr. Ted Noble, one of those missionaries. His subject was the appalling decline of Christianity throughout Europe.

Fewer than one percent of Europeans are Christian believers. Elsewhere, especially in Africa and Asia, the percentage is much higher and growing. Europe has become a spiritual wasteland in which people look to the political state for their salvation.

In the 19th century, Africa, the Dark Continent, was looked upon as the great field of activity for Christian missionaries. Conditions are the reverse today. American Episcopalians, for example, who seek a return to the Bible and a turning away from the secularized social gospel that has overtaken their church, now look to African bishoprics for support.

Dr. Nobel talked mostly about the opportunities and the needs for missionary work in Europe. But it’s important also to ask why Europe is in spiritual decline.

This is an impelling question, since Christianity’s greatest, lasting impact was in western Europe. After the final fall of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century, Christianity was left as the only civilizing force in western Europe. Without the Catholic Church in Rome, libraries and education itself would not have survived. Concepts of civilized law and order, based upon the Roman Empire’s codex, were preserved in Christian canonical law.

The Eastern Roman Empire, based in Constantinople (later Byzantium, today Istanbul), survived the onslaught of Islam for another thousand years until 1453. But Constantinople was not able to exercise much direct influence upon western Europe after the fall of Rome. Christian city states all around the eastern Mediterranean and into Russia, parts of the Eastern Orthodox Church, were continually subjected to Islamic jihad after the 7th century.

Europeans, before the evolution of strong nation states in the 16th century, thought of themselves as inhabitants of Christendom. It is thus accurate to assert that everything that we know as western civilization is an exclusive product of Christianity emanating from the church at Rome.

What went wrong?

The short answer is the French Revolution of 1789.

That cataclysmic event destroyed Christian civilization and instituted the religion of socialism, first in France, then throughout Europe.

In the simplest terms, French philosophers of the ill-named Continental European Enlightenment (the 18th century) decapitated Western civilization. The human soul and conscience, moral codes, and the relationship of each individual human to the universe and his fellow humans were tossed into the trash heap. The Western world was figuratively reduced to a headless body that reacted blindly to external, physical stimulae.

The secular, atheistic religion of socialism (in the United States, liberal-progressivism) ignores peoples’ spiritual needs. It asserts, instead, that only material needs for water, food, clothing shelter, and sex count in political society. In socialist religious theory, all of these things can be administered by the secular political state in ways that permit state planners to manipulate and control every aspect of human social behavior.

No one can logically accept that liberal-socialist doctrine and simultaneously support the metaphysical, natural-law principles that were the basis of our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution, Jefferson’s inalienable human rights flowing from our Creator God.

Philosophical materialism implies that the human soul is a myth; there is only the physical tangle of nerves, muscle, and bones constituting the physical human body. Non-material qualities like personal responsibility, piety, patriotism, and morality are dismissed as value judgments, lost in the morass of moral relativism. Karl Marx, for example, sneered at religion as the opium of the masses, calling it a fiction created by the ruling class to stupefy and subjugate the workers.

Dismissing the Mind of God and the natural law that flowed from it, intellectuals of the French Revolution believed themselves capable of manipulating humans, in the mass, as if they were puppets. They expected their secular religion of socialism to bring harmony and perfection to human life.

Instead, they took the Western world back to the lawless days of the hordes of Genghis Khan, when the sword was the only source of order and right. The millions of dead and maimed in two World Wars and the murders of tens of millions by the French Revolutionary councils, Napoleon, Lenin, Stalin, Mussolini, Hitler, Mao, and Castro are the legacy of French socialistic materialism and secularity.

Europe, once the driving force in world culture, has become a hollow shell that the inflow of Muslim immigrants will crack and overwhelm in coming decades, unless Christian missionaries succeed in bringing Europeans back to Jesus Christ.
