BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK

“But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.”

1 Corinthians 15:20-22

--------------------------

GSA Appearing at a Town near You

The National Day of Silence is upon us.  Sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) which is part of a larger network known as GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance), GLSEN has become a formidable force with over 40 chapters across the US.

The GSA/GLSEN network strives to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. This is good, but is already in place. This national organization wants to stop discrimination, harassment, and bullying based on the above two criteria. Led by youth, this organization pushes the fight against “homophobia” and “transphobia”. Unfortunately, the GSA labels are two misnomers that do not relate to ‘fear’ of either type of sexual mutation.

Any assault, whether verbal or physical, is certainly not Christian and espouses none of the traits taught by Christ. Certainly Lawrence King (allegedly gay) who was shot and killed earlier this year was an assault that should never have occurred. And it seems obvious that anyone guilty of such does not espouse Christian principles.

Wanting special treatment for an injustice done to you is not new. However, if someone is harassed, bullied, or even killed, they are a victim, regardless of the motivation behind the injustice. And the perpetrators deserve the same punishment for such cowardly and violent acts.

GLSEN was first founded in 1990 as GLSTN (Gay and Lesbian Independent School Teachers Network). But in 1997 GLSTN changed over to GLSEN.  There are very few ‘straights’[S] in the GSA network as a whole. The registered number of GSAs was over 3000 as of 2006. California has over 650 clubs, representing 50% of the state’s high schools. Most GSA alliances are located in high schools, but a few are in colleges. Saskatoon’s (Canada) newest high school, Bethlehem, recently established a GSA after failed attempts at other Catholic high schools in the city. In most high schools with GSAs, the organization is placed into a “non-school sponsored” status. Many worry about the institution of dating clubs.

From the first ever Day of Silence in 1996 at the University of Virginia, participants handed out cards saying: “My deliberate silence echoes that silence [by gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people], which is caused by harassment, prejudice, and discrimination.” That day is April 25.

Two things immediately occur to one upon hearing those words. 1) Where are the teachers who are the first line of protection against such behavior? 2) Wouldn’t such actions of silence exacerbate any abuse that could occur? Liberty Counsel relates that activists would like you to believe that the Day of Silence is about kindness and tolerance. In reality they day seems to be more about getting all students to accept radical and destructive ideas about sexuality.
Disturbingly, GLSEN has now co-opted Martin Luther King Jr. day trying to capitalize on his theme of social justice. They erroneously use the quote: “We are all tied together in a single garment of destiny. An inescapable network of mutuality.”

There are two major problems with their whole initiative. First, it assumes that sexual orientation is something you’re ‘born’ with. Second, it assumes that existing law does not provide protection. Both assumptions are wrong. People change orientations in both directions all the time. And no scientific data exists that proves this tendency is genetic.
When House Representative Sally Kern (OK) called homosexual practices more dangerous than terrorism in a speech, she received 17 thousand e-mails, which the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is examining for legally threatening content. Kern’s speech was accessed more than 500,000x the week after the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund posted it on youtube.com. Kern assured people her terrorism speech contained no hate speech, but reflected mistakes made by the GSA. She continued, “They want to silence anyone who does not approve their lifestyle. They want their freedom but don’t want those who disagree to have their freedom.”

Maybe “straights” should organize their own alliance. They sound like the ones who are endangered. Same-sex unions are against the Natural Law and considered a non-negotiable in the Catholic religion—that is, always wrong.

Unforgettable Looks of an Abortion

Unforgettable Looks of an Abortion

The act of aborting an individual is usually hidden in some Planned Parenthood office. A few doctors have physically seen the procedure done. A few others have seen the killings after the whole baby has left the uterus. Some truly grisly sights have been discovered in waste dumpsters. Not many of us really know exactly what goes on behind those closed doors. We therefore need to prepare.

Father Frank Pavone (Priests for Life) has posted two videos to YouTube www.youtube.com/watch?v=us_y9GP_-DA and www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBOAPleF1t0 that explains exactly what happens during an abortion. It’s very convenient that the mother never sees the actual abortion. The abortionist many times has an ultrasound picture of the procedure and watches it take place, but never allows the mother to see it. Most times, the abortionist has to ‘feel’ his way around the uterus without sight as to where the baby is.

Most abortions fall into either of two categories: a Suction Curetage usually done during the 1st semester, and a D&E (Dilation and Extraction), during the 2nd semester. With the Suction Curetage, a cannula (hollow tube) is used by the abortionist who runs a vacuum pump attached to it. The baby is continually prodded until it breaks into small enough pieces to be sucked through the cannula.

After the abortionist believes he has sucked all the parts of the baby out of the uterus, a sharp curette is pushed into the uterus to scrape away any parts of the procedure that are left. If the baby is small enough, she/he goes though the tube intact.

For the D&E, the “E” stands for extraction. And because the baby is much larger, it has to be extracted in parts. Forceps are used to grab anything it can grip--probably any extremities of the child first. Usually the abortionist cannot see what he’s grabbing. Without direct sight, the extremities are physically separated (ripped) from the body.

Next is the head, which is the largest part. To be able to fit through the mother, the head is usually perforated and its contents emptied. It is usually crushed if big enough. Typically it is brought out in fragments. How do you perforate something you can’t directly see?

There are “Yellow Page” ads for abortions of babies 26 and 28 weeks old. D&E abortions have been performed on babies 32 weeks and older. Per Father Pavone, “If we’re going to talk about abortion in this country, let’s make sure we know what we’re talking about…”.

An abortionist, Dr. Martin Haskell, says he knows the fetus is still alive because he feels it move and actually sees the heart beating before the procedure. But people will say this is not a life and is a mere blob of tissue. It seems highly likely that some or all of the babies feel pain from this type of abortion.

Do we ever put dogs or other animals though this kind of procedure? And we complain that waterboarding of terrorists is torture when it actually involves no physical pain? It’s likely we can witness pain firsthand by viewing the videotape of an ultrasound of an abortion. But it seems unlikely to ever get one from an abortion clinic.

Probably anyone who watches such a procedure would never be pro-choice again. Likely, if mothers were shown the tape of their own abortion, they would never get another one. It is probable abortionists like Planned Parenthood may see major monetary losses if such a video ever was shown. If anyone insists abortion should always be a choice, all one has to do is ask them if they’ve ever actually seen one.

Such a video will get out, sooner or later. And it could be said with tongue-in-cheek there likely will be h-ll to pay.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Before Execution, Hussein Admits to Having NO WMDs

Before Execution, Hussein Admits to Having NO WMDs

On 12/30/06 Saddam Hussein was executed for having ordered the suppression of rebellious Kurds in Iraq. That campaign left 180,000 Kurds missing and presumed dead. Numerous grave sites of multiple bodies reinforced that number. But an illuminating confession revealed--not under duress but with an alleged friend-- Hussein said no WMDs were left after 1991. And considering the circumstances, it’s likely he did not lie.

Ronald Kessler (reporter/author New York Times; Washington Post; Wall Street Journal) was the one to interview George Piro—the last confidante of Hussein before his execution. Piro was the perfect man for the job. An Arabic speaker born in Beirut, he came to the US at thirteen, eventually served in the military, became a police detective, and joined the FBI in 1999.

Being a subject-matter expert, Piro was given the special mission of debriefing Hussein before his execution. He became his best and only friend for 8 months. He wanted to find out Hussein’s thoughts on the initial invasion of Iraq, his role in ordering 300,000 people killed, and his WMDs.

Piro used his 8 months to perfection. He found out that Hussein did indeed order the use of chemical weapons against the Kurdish town of Halabja earlier, as well as many other atrocities. Finally, Hussein confided why he actually had no usable WMDs, but pretended he did.

Because of Iran’s war of attrition with Iraq, Hussein always felt Iran was a threat. And, if Iran thought he had serious WMD, they would be reluctant to attack Iraq. The only way Iran would believe it was if others thought it was true, particularly the US. So whenever the inspectors visited, Hussein gave them the runaround and acted like he still had WMD.

Given the fact that the Iraqi generals thought they had chemical weapons that were to be used during a US attack, it was impossible for anyone to find out otherwise. All were convinced there were WMD. They didn’t know where they were, but were convinced other Iraqis did.

Hussein was more astute than people believe. In fact, the (then) existing US administration warned profusely of Hussein’s WMDs. In separate occasions in 1998 harbingers included Madeline Albright, Sandy Berger, Scott Ritter (inspector), Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Mikulski, Diane Feinstein, Tom Daschle, and Bill Clinton. In 1998, 2001 and 2002 it was Bob Graham, Joe Lieberman, and Harold Ford. In 2002 alone it was Patty Murray, Jim Jeffords, Ted Kennedy, Wesley Clark, Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, d*** Gephardt, Al Gore, Bob Graham, Patty Murray, John Rockefeller, Henry Waxman, d*** Gephardt, Robert Byrd, Barbara Boxer, Tom Harkin, and Arlen Specter. In 1998, 2002, and 2003 it was John Kerry. Direct quotes from each are available about Hussein’s WMDs.

Knowing Hussein’s WMD history, Putin’s pronouncement that Hussein had planned WMDs to be used against the US, Hussein lying in his 14,000 page report to the UN, Hussein’s continued attempts to shoot down allied aircraft in the ‘no-fly’ zone, and his total disregard for 14 UN resolutions, Bush made the correct decision to depose Hussein. NOT, to attack Iraq. If Bush had not made some move, protection of American citizenry would have been easily in doubt.

Intriguingly, Hussein did confide with Piro about aspiring to develop nuclear capability in an incremental fashion. From payoffs to key officials, Hussein believed sanctions would be lifted within a year or so. He thought he could then recreate Iraq’s WMD capability, mostly destroyed in 1991.

“His goal was to have the sanctions lifted,” Piro stated, “and they likely would have been lifted if it were not for 9/11.” Given Hussein’s eventual intentions, it seems as Condoleeza Rice’s words about “being too late if you see the mushroom cloud” was omniscient. It’s frustrating to admit that the British M15 was right about Iraq looking for yellowcake in Niger.

Of course, Hussein could have shipped many of his WMDs to neighboring terrorist states like Syria before things became dicey. That would mean he didn’t have WMDs at the moment of the US incursion after Hussein. Maybe a lot of Hussein’s secrets died with him in Iraq. Then again, maybe not.

Save the Boy Scouts...

Bible Verse of the Week

Of what value is an idol, since a man has carved it? Or an image that teaches lies? For he who makes it trusts in his own creation; he makes idols that cannot speak. Woe to him who says to wood, ‘Come to life!’ Or to lifeless stone, ‘Wake up!’ Can it give guidance? It is covered with gold and silver; there is no breath in it. But the LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him.”

We need your help promoting www.savethephillyscouts.org

You may be aware that the Philadelphia City Council recently told the Boy Scouts to leave their local headquarters building in the city unless they can pay market rent or change their membership policies. Even though the Scouts built the building 80 years ago and kept it up on city property deeded to them for $1 per year “in perpetuity,” the Scouts will probably be moving out of their building on May 31.

The Pennsylvania primary election is on April 22. We’re asking Americans who support the Boy Scouts to sign a petition to the Pennsylvania media, calling on them to ask the candidates at local, state, and federal levels about the Boy Scouts. From city councils to Congress and the presidency, our politicians can either affirm the Boy Scouts or they can side with the ACLU and other groups that are attacking the Scouts.

The ACLU tried to stop a military base from holding the Boy Scout Jamboree. The ACLU has worked to get Boy Scouts out of our schools and public parks. And one presidential candidate said that if elected he would renounce the title of Boy Scouts honorary president.

We need to make the attacks on Scouting an issue in this election.

Please go to www.savethephillyscouts.org and sign your name on our petition to Save the Philly Scouts. Then place a link to www.savethephillyscouts.org on your website, and tell this to your friends.

Thank you -

The Left's Mischaracterization of Israel

The Left’s Mischaracterization of Israel
By Aaron Velasquez, Right Side News

The American right loves Israel. We love Israel because Israel is us. Israel has McDonalds, night clubs, a middle class, semiconductor plants, and nuclear weapons. The left hates Israel for exactly these same things. Some liberals go one better and equate Israel with Nazi Germany, with Palestinians acting the part of the Jews. As bizarre as this seems to me, it plays well in the emotionally-driven finger-pointing crowd.

Israel is rich, stable and secure, and Palestine is poor and in turmoil. The fallacy is the idea that Israel’s success caused the poverty of the Palestinians. People looking for “root causes” of violence often stop at poverty, and assume that the nearest rich people are to blame. Mexico is poor and backward compared to the United States, but nobody is saying that the United States made Mexico that way. The United States even took some of Mexico into herself and made more states. I live in one of them. However, there is no international outcry for reparations. There are no Mexican suicide bombers blowing themselves up in Dallas or Albuquerque.

Israel is a strong industrial society with a functioning military, a good educational system, infrastructure, and an intellectually high-functioning citizenry. The Palestinians are weak in all of these areas. In the liberal media and academia, this discrepancy is made into a causal relationship. That is, the Palestinians are poor and backward because the Israelis made them that way. It would be as if the Israelis marched into a developed, first-world Palestine in 1948 and displaced its high-functioning populace from the controls of its well-oiled European-style machine.

The myth then tells how the poor Palestinians were herded into the ghettos of the West Bank and Gaza and forced to live as animals. Any defensive use of Israel’s military is fuel for the myth of an Israeli ‘genocide’ against the Palestinians, which completes the picture of Israelis as Nazis.

You may remember the hysterical NPR broadcasts of the last decade describing ‘massacres’ of innocents in Palestinian areas. Never mind the Israeli military was pursuing the enemy through those areas, or that the enemy chose to hide behind civilians. Not widely reported, but interesting and appalling were the documented cases of Palestinian terrorists dragging animal carcasses into the battle zones to make the smell worse when the sympathetic UN “observers” came around to inspect the “massacre” sites.

Palestine was poor and backward for millennia before the first wave of Zionists came in 1882. It was poor and backward when the state of Israel was created by international decree in 1948. It wasn’t until after substantial numbers of European Jews settled there that a modern state appeared. The Middle East is largely poor and backward even today, with the notable exception of Israel. It follows that the Zionists must have taken a poor and backward place and created a thriving industrial country.

How did they do it, if they didn’t steal it? Zionist immigrants to the newly formed Israel were largely drawn from Europe and were accustomed to a high standard of living, functioning government, infrastructure, and a fairly open society. None of those things existed in the area in 1948, so the Israelis had to do the work to create the land they wanted.

Could the Palestinians have done the same in Gaza and the West Bank? One would hope so, but experience demonstrates the Palestinians are not yet capable of this. Certainly, the Palestinians are intelligent people, but they have not chosen to use their physical and intellectual resources to the same ends as the Israelis. To the contrary, when they have been given Israeli-held areas, they have ripped up trees, torn down greenhouses and destroyed infrastructure. Why this is the case is a subject for another column.

Mississippi author and Christian explain the facts about the culture war going on in America from Biblical Christian stand point.

Book Description

There is a growing culture war in today’s society. On one side, people believe in abortion as the right to choose, that the universe is here by accident, and that homosexuality is okay. They believe that Jesus was only a prophet or a good man, but on the other side, the direct opposite beliefs are being made known. In this book, the Mississippi author gives a traditional biblical point of view into what is wrong with the most fought about controversial moral and social issues facing America today.

BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK

Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: “The man who does these things will live by them.” But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ “ (that is, to bring Christ down) “or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’ “(that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Fear Controls Nuclear Options

Fear Controls Nuclear Options

Amazing how the emotion of fear will make us totally illogical. It’ll result in poor decision making, and actions that do not make sense to a person thinking with crystal clarity. That wall is larger than ever with today’s events.

Unfounded fear of darkness may keep one from entering a dark house. A groundless fear of flying may have one pick driving as a mode of transportation, no matter how long. Fear of having a baby because of pain, lack of money, lack of knowledge, or poor timing may drive someone to abortion and the killing of that life.

Fear of global warming causing rising waters and pestilence will cloud one’s thinking. It will obscure the true facts of past history, past CO2 concentrations, and the sun being a variable star by ~0.5%.

Fear of the announced receding oil supply has led many to believe the “peak oil” theory. This fear has many thinking oil production has reached its peak. Information as to how many wells are now being “adiabatically” refilled seems lost. Or even drilling (believed to affect the environment) in certain areas known to have oil has not been approved because of fear of hurting that environment.

One of the worst fears seems to come directly from nuclear energy—fission and fusion. Nuclear fission has been in use and providing power for the past 50 years. In 2004, fission nuclear power provided 6.5% of the world’s energy and 15.7% of the world’s electricity (Wikipedia). It is widely known nuclear fuel contains at least 10 million times more useable energy than does chemical fuel.

The IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) reported there are at least 439 fission reactors in operation. One can look up that the US alone has fission providing 20% of the electricity it consumes, with 80% for France.

But fear of nuclear accident, radiation, nuclear proliferation, and nuclear waste production has almost halted any new plant production. The 1979 Three Mile Island and 1986 Chernobyl disaster played right into everyone’s fears. But the problematic containment buildings since Chernobyl have long been addressed in all newer fission facilities without any further problems.

In a nutshell, a little research has determined:

1) Only one death in half a century from direct result of radiation exposure from the generation of atomic power. In the last 50 years there have been 83,000 American deaths in coal mining accidents and premature black-lung disease. Even this is 10x the number of possible long-term deaths from Chernobyl.

2) Per the Department of Labor, over the last 50 years America has sustained at least 1000 deaths and 50,000 debilitating injuries from oil and gas drilling.

3) Zero casualties in America’s worst nuclear accident--“Three Mile Island”.

4) No link to cancer mortality. A total of 104 US nuclear power facilities have produced no link to cancer rates (16 types) for those living in their shadows (National Cancer Institute).

5) Terrorist activities at a fission site have proved to be fruitless due to new shut down techniques, and lack of a possible large number of human deaths.

Because of its sensationalism, American pop culture has seized on the idea of nuclear mutation in animals and humans. Of course, with more typical energy options, people easily overlook all the injuries and pollution caused by mining waste, runoff, acid rain, dams, gas discharges, and windmills.

For windmills alone, their impact on bird and bat populations are quite deadly. In one 2004 study on bats, just 63 turbines at two eastern US sites removed 2,200 of these furry insectivores in 6 weeks (Amrhein/Whiskey and Gunpowder).

Bottom line, even if you believe that CO2 is killing the planet despite its necessity for photosynthesis for every living plant, fission only generates a fraction of the CO2 that coal- and gas-fired electricity does. It seems the answer for all our fuel needs is sitting there staring us in the face, but fear has disabled us from thinking clearly.

FDR’s quote comes to mind: The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
