Expelled...The Movie

November 29, 2007

Dear Readers:

In February a new documentary is coming to theaters and this time, it’s no liberal Micheal Moore or Al Gore movie. This time, it’s a real movie worth seeing.

The name of it is Expelled and Ben Stein stars in it. The documentary focuses on the censorship and suppression of Intelligent Design being able to be taught or even discussed in the public school system versus the everyday forced and unproven theory of molecules to man evolution. It’s one to take any teenage kids to and let them see what’s really going on in the ever so increasingly secular world in which we live.

You can learn more about this new movie at:
http://www.expelledthemovie.com/home.php .

At this site, you can sign up for news updates, read a daily blog post, and learn about resources that can help promote Intelligent Design over evolution to students, teachers, and community leaders and the best thing about signing up is that it’s totally free! I highly recommend not only visiting this website but also telling a friend or church member about it. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Rob Hood

Don't Divide Jerusalem...

BETRAYED: The Conspiracy to Divide Jerusalem
Dr. Michael D. Evans

The Annapolis Peace Summit
Annapolis, Maryland

In the pre-dawn hours, my car winds its way down the streets of this historic city toward the Naval Academy and the Annapolis Summit. Precious fathers, mothers and grandmothers shiver in the cold darkness of the morning. Some of the men blow shofars and pray openly. Most hold signs printed with their pleas: “Don’t touch Jerusalem,” “Don’t touch the Bible land,” “Don’t touch prophecy.”

Unbidden tears slide down my cheeks for I sense how desperate and hopeless they must feel. These who love Jerusalem are overshadowed by the high and mighty of the world: President George W. Bush, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and foreign ministers from many Arab states. Among those are known terrorists who are being treated as honored diplomats.

This is the first international peace conference since the U.S. organized-Madrid Peace Summit at the end of Operation Desert Storm in 1991. It was during that debacle that I openly challenged former Secretary of State James Baker over Jerusalem. The names change, but the desire to offer up Jerusalem as the sacrifice to appease terrorists is as passionate as ever.

The Madrid Summit destroyed the economy of Israel. It caused the overthrow of the government as literally tens of thousands of Russian Jewish immigrants were forced to sleep in tents. Why? The U.S. froze $10 billion in loan guarantees that would have provided housing for these destitute men, women and children. Israel was ultimately forced to give up more than 80 villages and towns, i.e., Jericho, Hebron, and Bethlehem.

Today, the vultures gather again, sensing that more of the City of David will be laid on the altar of sacrifice. President Bush has agreed in what is being called “The Final Status Plan” to divide Jerusalem before the end of his term in 2008. He has also demanded that Israel halt construction in the settlements for refugees. The plan is to turn those settlements over to the PLO.

The Saudis, of course, want the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon to be able to move into Israel, not into the Palestinian Authority land holdings. The plan calls for Palestine to be a state within one year, with East Jerusalem as the capital. This “Final Status Plan” calls for vigorous, unceasing, aggressive negotiations that would end in the creation of a two-state region by the end of 2008.

It seems that the participants of the summit are trying to breathe life back into the Road Map plan introduced in 2003. When Mahmoud Abbas refused to implement the very first clause of the plan – to disarm the terrorist organizations – the plan died in utero.

The Saudis, of course, were overjoyed to hear President Bush’s comments during the Summit. The Road Map, an invention of Saudi Arabia and the Arab League was designed to force Israel to the bargaining table. Then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon related to me that he had asked for 14 amendments. Secretary of State Colin Powell flatly refused to include any of Sharon’s amendments. Phase Two of the plan as outlined was the dismantling of all terror organizations and their infrastructure. HAMAS, Islamic Jihad, al-Aksa Martyrs Brigade to name a few would have been forced to turn over all illegal weapons and stop terror incitement.

Needless to say, Phase Two was not implemented by Abbas. Quite the opposite occurred: HAMAS took over Gaza; Abbas’ own terror organization, Fatah and al-Aksa martyrs Brigade continue to kill Jews. (The latest murder was that of a 29-year old father of two from the village of Shavei Shomron, just days before the Summit in Annapolis.)

The acceptance of this vile plan would turn Israel into a living hell. The Jewish people would be forced to live next door to a state controlled by Islamic fanatics such as Hamas. I am reminded over and over of the scripture in Psalm 83:2-5: For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; and those who hate You have lifted up their head. They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, and consulted together against Your sheltered ones. They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” For they have consulted together with one consent; they form a confederacy against You...”

I stand here now with this document in my hand – this “Agreement of Joint Understanding” to which both parties have pledged acceptance. This document, if followed, will result in the division of Jerusalem. I’ve asked myself how the U.S. government could partner with a terror organization responsible for thousands of terror attacks worldwide. How could President Bush cavalierly shake hands with the man responsible for the Munich massacre?

Is George W. Bush so consumed by his legacy that he would sacrifice Jerusalem and hundreds of thousands of innocent Jews to attain his goal? Israel would have to give up the Temple Mount and the Western Wall in East Jerusalem; evacuate most of the strategic West Bank which would leave it vulnerable to rocket attacks in Tel Aviv and at its international airport.

What does the future hold for Israel? President Bush has indicated that Israel had “painful compromises” to make during the negotiations that were to begin immediately. I can tell you that Israel seemed very alone during the Annapolis Summit. It greatly concerns me. Why? President Clinton attempted to divide Jerusalem in January 2001, before the end of his term of office. He almost succeeded. I believe those negotiations and Arafat’s subsequent rejection of Clinton’s offer led directly to the events of 9/11.

Now, President Bush is attempting to follow in Bill Clinton’s footsteps. I, for one, am appalled to have to admit that President Bush believes the Palestinian cause is the root of Islamic hatred for America. His advisors are likely telling him that this agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority will affect his legacy in a most positive way. How wrong can they possibly be? Only time will tell.

Can the Palestinian crisis be resolved? YES!

I believe that the first action that must be taken is a rehabilitation package calling for the dismantling of the 59 U.N.-maintained refugee camps. The Arab world needs to provide resettlement, employment and housing for the refugees. This would be similar to what happened to the Jewish refugees throughout Europe and the Arab world in 1948. Secondly, I would do everything to help Jordan grant citizenship to Arabs in the West bank. I believe that the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan should serve as their representative body. Jordan granted citizenship status to West Bank Palestinians until the late 1980s. The Palestinians do not need more land; they need a life free of Islamic kindergarten camps that continue to instill hatred for the Jews into children at an early age.

The Not-So-Golden Compass - A Warning to Christian Parents

The Not-So-Golden Compass - A Warning to Christian Parents

by

Rob Hood

On December 7 a new movie opens by the name of The Golden Compass. It seems to be a harmless movie targeting children, but the underlying theme is definitely harmful. The movie is based upon Northern Lights which is one of famous author and atheist Philip Pullman. His series of books takes direct aim at the Chronicles of Narnia and even Pullman himself claims that the intent of the book series is to kill God. He has been labeled the most dangerous author in Britain by conservative columnist Peter Hitchens for having implemented his atheist and humanist views to children through a series of books. Now many churches and religious leaders have condemned the movie and have called for a boycott while reminding parents that the underlying theme of the movie and book series is to turn away from God. I also give strong warning to parents hoping that Christian parents will take a better look at what their children are watching on TV and reading both at school and at home. So, if you were thinking about taking your kids to The Golden Compass, be careful that children don’t become too attached to “killing God”. To read more about this see the references provided.

This week...

The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel: The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children- with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.

Now Who is Against a ‘Packing’ Teacher?

Now Who is Against a ‘Packing’ Teacher?

Schools are different than they were 30 years ago. Now you walk in and you question if today is the day somebody will shoot you. The real problem lies in the fact that if someone decides to whip out a semi-automatic and start blowing you and your friends away, there’s not a thing you can do about it.

When the writer went to school, if the freshman teacher did not like you cutting up in class with your partner, you might be surprised by his reaction. Picking both of the instigators up by the collar, banging their heads together, and physically throwing them out of the classroom actually happened.

Today, that teacher would be brought up on charges, the guilty kids would receive profuse apologies, and the teacher would likely loose his job. But those were the days when teachers were respected or even feared, when you came to learn and not to see how you could weasel “out”, when you never worried about a school bully, never thought about pulling a prank in school, and never thought about smoking on the school grounds.

But in the last 18 years, there have been 23 well documented incidents of guns being used to kill---in school. Some of the well known were Columbine(4/20/99), Virginia Tech(4/16/07), and SuccessTech(10/10/07). There’s been at least one/year for the last 18, and we know there’ll be others.

It sounds like it is past time to remedy the situation. We can have every parent change the attitude of their progeny. In other words, we must insure that those parents instill a sense of respect for teachers. Not many agree that this is a short-term goal, however. The only short-term one is fear. And the only way to achieve that is to have teachers ‘pack heat’—perhaps visibly.

How many cite claims of having a renegade kid somehow wrest control of guns from teachers who have them? First, not every teacher will have a gun. Second, properly trained teachers know where and where not to put their gun. Third, every teacher must be properly trained and equipped to ‘carry’. And fourth, properly trained teachers know you don’t leave your weapon lying on your desk for someone else to use.

Very few kids will bring weapons of mass murder to school if they know their effort will meet known and immediate resistance. But without any packing teachers, the students know that if they do have a weapon they are free to slaughter as many people with as many bullets that they can carry.

How less likely are kids to bring weapons if they know they face armed resistance? Even if only a small percentage of teachers are armed, perpetrators still know that resistance is present. But it seems we have clearly signaled a “loss” in the classroom, or some measure of resignation.

One thing armed conflict teaches you--a signal of resignation in a battle typically invites more killing and mayhem. There are too many teachers who know exactly how to handle firearms—right now.

And for those teachers who want to lead students to a better life, it is indeed a battle. Teachers and administrators need control to teach—total control. Parents need that to teach their young ones almost everything.

Per Doug Giles(www.clashradio.com), “We can’t afford to rely on chunky security guards with golf carts, pepper spray, whistles and plastic badges to safeguard against these armed little death dealing b--stards from hell.”

Parents of those dead students certainly wish that someone could’ve been there to stop the chaos and the killing. If more students see a visible weapon on a hip of a teacher, more schools will cease to be a shooting gallery for young culprits. Those perps will likely think twice upon realizing the limited number of potential victims, and their likely demise. If a student actually tries to take a holstered gun from a teacher, he would and should be met with unqualified resistance.

Some people still don’t want teachers carrying weapons. But they’re for ‘free choice’ for abortion, sex, drugs, and marriage---but not for ‘free choice’ with vouchers, or armed teachers. Is there something wrong here?

BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK

I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

Is Praying for “A Rainy Night In Georgia” Dumb

Satire By John W. Lillpop

Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue is among those desperately searching for a solution to the drought conditions that continue to plague his state and most of the southeast. Now the governor is asking Georgians to join him in praying to the Almighty for a rainy night, or preferably scores of rainy nights, to end the crisis.

Naturally, atheists are adamantly opposed to prayer or any other public function that legitimizes God. Mind you, I do not believe that He needs legitimizing from any mortal, least of all atheists.

Still, atheists like Georgian Ed Buckner plan to demonstrate at the governor’s prayer vigil.

“We’ve got a real problem. Let’s try to do something real about it and instead of grandstanding,” said Buckner, who is a member of the Atlanta Freethought Society.

ABC News: http://www.abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=3857886

And just what do you have in mind in the way of “real,” Mr. Buckner?

Would you prefer that Georgia outlaw Christmas just to see if that helps? And if not, at least you got rid of another pagan holiday?

Or perhaps Georgia should raise taxes? That is always the standby solution in the minds of leftists who hate God and want everyone else to do likewise.

And then there is always the W card. Why not blame the parched ground on global warming brought on by President GW Bush?

Go ahead, push for the immediate impeachment of Bush and his comrade in terror, Veep Cheney. And when President Pelosi takes over the Oval Office, it will surely start to rain.

That is so because the Almighty will surely weep at the stupidity of mankind in allowing a clueless liberal to ascend to the most powerful position on earth!

But back to Buckner who added the following statement to his anti-God, pro-drought rant:

“It (the prayer vigil) is also an absurd, foolish thing to do, and it makes the state of Georgia and Georgians like myself look dumb,” Buckner added.

At least Buckner got something right--he certainly does look dumb. But it’s not because of the governor’s prayer vigil, Ed.

Rather, it’s your silliness in trying to make a state versus religion issue out of a sincere effort on the part of Governor Perdue to end the misery. Pretending that the governor’s actions harm you or any other godless atheist is really dumb!

Oh, and by the way, when the evacuation Ark stops in Atlanta after 40 days of rain, feel free to refuse to get on board. After all, the Lord would not want Ed Buckner to look dumb!

BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet: all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Book Review by Rob Hood :

If Democrats Had Any Brains They’d be Republicans by Ann Coulter

The most outspoken conservative alive today, Ann Coulter, has done it again! She told it just how it was in her last bestseller, Godless: The Church of Liberalism and now she has written what will be another bestseller. Liberals and even some conservatives and moderates dislike Coulter because of her bold expressions, most of them made in jest.

Her latest book sums up her beliefs that conservatism is smarter than liberalism by re iewing past discussions. My favorite paragraph from the whole book actually comes from the Introduction. It states:

“Irritating as liberals are, I’d just as soon have them waste their energy attacking me than burning the flag, writing a national choice law, or flying to Alabama to take down another Ten commandments monument. You can never get to a Christian. We’ve got nothing to lose that they can take from us. Go ahead and waste your impotent rage on me. Make my day.”

The book is definitely going to be another bestseller and while everyone may not like Ann Coulter, we all have to agree that she has courage to stand up and say what she believes instead of hiding her true feelings. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a true conservative who likes to read about a woman who enjoys annoying liberals for a living.

Do Not Mix!

Embryonic Stem Cells and ‘MS’ don’t Mix

A recent conference call with the ‘MS’(Multiple Sclerosis) society, hundreds of callers, two ‘MS’ hosts, and a moderator, was very eye-opening. At best, it showed the dark side of Americans. Emotions ran high because ‘MS’ sufferers would do almost anything for a faint glimmer of hope for its cure.

The moderator had previously made all efforts to remove and delete the writer from any ‘MS’ Society internet ‘blogs’ concerning treatment. In particular, from items involved with Embryonic Stem Cell Research(ESCR). The moderator was highly critical of Bush for previously vetoing federal funds for ESCR.

The live show contained two publicized experts(Prof. Linda Glen, and Dr. Ian Duncan) on stem cell work with ‘MS’ patients. No one else was allowed to speak, and a few questions from the listeners were previously handpicked for the one-hour show.

In brief summation, talking hosts discussed ESCs 5-6 days after fertilization. ESCR’s potential broad range of disease treatment was conversed. They centered on the ethical evidence of ESCR, especially on the conclusion there was no neural activity(which only appeared after the 42nd day). Therefore, viability was eliminated.

Also, it was discussed that New Jersey and California are already considering ESCR. Italy has started testing ESCs. Canada is using ESCs for ‘MS’, but its use of ESCs is a little bit contentious because several people have died using the procedure.

Both experts decried the fact that even though Bush OK’d the use of 60 ESC lines, that number was now down to <12, which is not enough. Both experts related that ESCR on mice resulted in teratoma(cancer) formation. They admitted that the more things you tried with ESCs, the more bad things happened. They did not expound beyond the ‘teratomas’. They agreed that all leftover IVF(In Vitro-Fertilization) ESCs should be used. They assumed that IVF was a correct procedure in the first place.

The experts also admitted that the use of ESCs was a little like ‘wild cards’, versus the use of Adult Stem Cells(ASCs). You weren’t really sure what would turn up with the use of ESCs. Prof. Glen stated that, even if they started today, at least 3-8 more years of research would be needed before any actual therapy could take place.

These experts brought up ‘justification’ several times—that many of the ongoing cells would come from ESC’s, not be ESC’s. What wasn’t stated was that fertilized embryos would have to be destroyed to produce those ‘pluripotent’ cells.

Belief that some thought ‘life’ was instituted at the moment of conception was discussed, but not seriously considered. What was really eye-opening was what was not discussed. Did anyone really know if ‘life’ was not created at conception? Could anyone guarantee that young infants could not feel pain just because we could not detect neural activity? When did ‘life’ actually begin? Did anyone think that the cancer formations with ESCR use were a non-verbal signal that this procedure should not be attempted?

Since >85% of Americans are convinced that a “soul” exists in a person, when is it put there? What happens to the soul if the fertilized embryo is destroyed? What does the Creator, who put the soul into the new baby, think about this procedure?

The writer was accused earlier of putting too much emotion into this issue. But the above questions seem very ‘cut-and-dry’. Isn’t the act of using ESCs, in itself, an emotional reaction to outside factors?

Other items rarely mentioned---the use of ASC’s(especially/placenta), which do not involve the destruction of extremely young babies. ASCs have had at least 72 success stories with illnesses. ESC’s have had “O”. “Life” is not terminated with ASCs. Billions of tax dollars are saved by not wasting them on ESCR, and not further increasing the national debt. One would think no ESCR funding sounds like a complete ‘no-brainer’.

It’s difficult to figure out this mode of thinking that many with ‘MS’ seem to have. Maybe they’ve let emotions cloud their decision making. Maybe they have no problem with killing a ‘life’ so they can benefit somewhere down the road. Either way, it’s scary that people like this exist. Another discouragement---so many of these dissenters are from only one party.

BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK

Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Selah . For you have heard my vows, O God; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name. Increase the days of the king’s life, his years for many generations. May he be enthroned in God’s presence forever; appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him. Then will I ever sing praise to your name and fulfill my vows day after day.

Psalm 61
