When Schools Stray From Real Education

Education is an important concern and a hot topic to Americans. Americans want their children to be well educated, but in today’s society not only are the children being educated but they are being indoctrinated. Ultra liberal organizations like the National Education Association have endorsed homosexuality as a normal lifestyle. These type of organizations condemn people who try to teach their children right from wrong but go behind the parents’ back and then teach them the direct opposite.

A prime example of this horrific and totally absurd indoctrination program by the far left in the American public education system is as follows:

Freshmen at a high school in Deerfield, Illinois were required this past school year to attend lectures on sexuality given by homosexual, bisexual, and transgender students. The school officials there, required the students to sign a contract forbidding them to discuss what happened at the lectures to anyone else including their own parents.

Now, a public school official that would attempt such an evil act of brainwashing, indoctrination, and sheer absurdity should not only be terminated from employment, but be banned from ever coming within 2000 yards of a school for life. Not only that, but the parents should storm that school in a near violent riot and demand that all officials and student involved be permanently banned from that school district for life as well as having to pay damages done to the parents’ children by a very expensive fine. The only reason that most parents do not attempt such acts is that they do not know what their hard earned tax dollars are going towards in today’s anti-conservative school system. If parents only knew that these type events were happening, then I personally feel that there would be protests and there would be accountability for officials who engage in this type of behavior.

Another example of sheer lunacy:

Last year, the California (should have known)State Assembly passed a series of pro-homosexual bills, one of which required all public school textbooks and teaching materials be edited to give only positive references to homosexuality. One more bill authorized a “tolerance education” program that would ban any expression of traditional values and any language expressing a preference for traditional marriage.

My vote on this would be to have all the textbooks to be edited to ban any talk of sex at all in the classroom. The subjects that these modern schools are providing have absolutely nothing to do with education and more about creating a social and anti-traditional culture for use in the future. The goal of the NEA and other organizations is to gain control of society in order to transform it into something in which they disagree with. The modern ultraliberal establishment is trying to gain power by changing the future generations’ way of thinking. If they can change the mind of a child, then they can change a whole society.

It is organizations like the National Education Association, the ACLU, GLSEN, and Planned parenthood that should have parents everywhere scrambling to remove their children from public classrooms or opt to remove certain school administrators from their duty. Schools like the one mention in Illinois try hiding what they are doing because they know that parents do not want their children to be taught things like this. Parents have every right to know what their children are being taught in the classroom. That is why every responsible parent should have their child bring home all of the textbooks on the first day of school and go through them with a fine tooth comb and make sue that negative pro-homosexual inoculation materials are not presented.

It is up to parents to get a foothold and regain the public school system from liberal organizations who wish to turn our youth into the European utopia that they constantly strive for. it is up to the parents to teach their own children about sexuality, marriage, and the difference from right and wrong before the teachers do it.

All I can say is that I am proud to be living in the very RED state of Mississippi where this type of act is not tolerated. That riot situation would probably become real if the Mississippi legislature ever issues such an act. I am proud that my state has not become a breeding ground for liberals who hate traditional values and family.

It seems as if Communist goals 17and 18 are coming to pass:

Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks

Gain control of all student newspapers.

WHAT CAN I DO?

1) Call you Senators and Congressmen and tell them that you will not tolerate a pro-homosexual agenda while you pay taxes for such. Remind them why you voted for them and that they can be voted out of office just as easily as they were voted in if they refuse to act on the matter. Remind them politely that you pay their salary and therefore they work for you, not the other way around.

2) Take a stand. Get together with other parents and demand accountability for school administrators that allow such events to take place in the public school system. Get together and demand that their employment with that school district be terminated immediately or legal action will be taken.

3) If at all possible remove your children from the public school system and home School them . They will benefit from a quality education that focuses on reading, math, real science, and subjects that matter and not off the wall indoctrination by homosexual advocacy groups.

4) Become involved in organizations that fight this type of propaganda in the classroom. Organizations such as Concerned Women for Amerca, Family Research Counsel, and American Familoy Association are some examples.

The Way around the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban

It was only a matter of time. The reason why you don’t hear more screams of discontent about the passage of the partial-birth abortion ban is because there is a legal way around it. It’s being used more frequently than we know. You may or may not be familiar with the trade name “Lanoxin”. It’s better known by its proper name--digoxin(dij ok’ sen).

Per Steven Ertelt(LifeNews), the ban made it clear that an abortion can’t be done by mostly delivering an unborn child, and then jamming a suction tube into the still-covered skull, and sucking out all her brains. Clever people figured out “Why not kill the baby first, and then deliver the dead child’s body second?” Janet Crepps(attorney/ Center for Reproductive Rights) says, “One fail-safe way to protect against prosecution under the law is to ensure that fetal demise has occurred.”

Digoxin has been widely used for heart treatments before. Atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and congestive heart failure are only a few. It seems, however, that the occurrence of adverse drug reactions is common, owing to its narrow therapeutic index(the margin between effectiveness and toxicity). Adverse effects are concentration-dependent and include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, blurred vision, visual disturbances, confusion, nightmares, agitation, and/or depression. It’s also well understood that “death” of an unborn also results. Why would someone go though those conditions, unless they wanted to kill the child at all costs?

It may also be remembered that Charles Cullen admitted in 2003 to killing as many as 40 hospital patients with overdoses of heart medication(usually digoxin) at hospitals in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. On 3/10/06 he was sentenced to 18 consecutive life sentences. He is not eligible for parole for 397 years(USA Today/ Jan 06).

Lo and behold, they found that the drug digoxin could be dangerous if it is accidentally injected into the woman instead of the baby. But it’s ‘OK’ as long as it kills the baby. The drug has to be injected with a long needle into the abdomen, and many times it is not certain who gets injected.

According to Ertelt, abortion practitioners admitted to the Detroit News in various interviews that they are misusing digoxin in off-label use to do many second-trimester abortions. Renee Chelian(Executive Director/Northland Family Planning Centers) said the 3 Michigan abortion centers(under same name) use digoxin. Chelian has even blamed those actions on the Partial-Birth Abortion ban.

Actually it’s been known that the Northland abortion centers have been giving women digoxin for years. Women at the six abortion centers in Detroit run by WomanCare also seem to be misusing the drug. Alberto Hodari(Director WomanCare) confirmed to the newspaper that all women having abortions between 18 and 24 weeks of pregnancy will get digoxin.

Reports have surfaced that abortion facilities in Boston are also misusing the drug. Now, even the Boston Globe reports that Massachusetts General, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center have adopted policies making the digoxin process standard procedure for abortions. In most cases, staff members inject the digoxin into the bodies of the unborn children at 18-20 weeks to insure the baby is dead beforehand. Add to that Boston Medical Center, who has begun using digoxin for later-term surgical abortions.

Mark Nichols(Oregon Health & Science University) indicated he thinks the majority of abortion centers doing second term abortions are already using the digoxin. No kidding.

A few questions come to mind. 1)How many babies were killed using digoxin before most really knew? 2)How many of those babies would have also died from Partial-Birth abortion if the procedure had not been banned? 3)Because babies feel pain starting at 20 weeks, how much pain is there with an overdose of digoxin? 4)If using digoxin for abortion is eventually banned, how long will it take to find away ‘around’ this ban? 5)Wasn’t it necessary to commit a major felony before being sentenced to the death penalty?

Maybe we need to ask ourselves, “How close to Nazi Germany techniques have we devolved to so far?”

Defending Jim Herring

I have had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Jim Herring, the Mississippi GOP Chairman, and hearing him speak on a number of occasions in various places. Never once have I heard him say anything derogatory or racist about any particular group of people. Yet, the Mississippi Democratic Party has labeled him as racist because of a statement he recently made at a campaign meeting for current Governor Haley Barbour(R). According to The Clarion Ledger, he stated: “Democrats will say they’re like you. They’ll say I go to church with you. My kids go to school with yours. But when they go to the Legislature, they’ll vote with the black caucus and support Hillary Clinton.”

Now, whenever the opposing party has nothing legitimate to say in regards to the truth, they automatically label the speaker as racist. It’s a common thing in Mississippi politics to call someone a racist if they win an election or say something negative about the state Democratic party. It seems like the liberal state politicians in this case is trying to so the same thing to Jim Herring as they did to Trent Lott. Anytime a conservative person speaks, usually there are those who will look for statements to take out of context in order to dethrone that person. It’s a smart tactic, but a deceitful one. However, the tactic seems to work because so many people walk lock step with the state Democratic party that they refuse to think for them self and will follow the party’s leadership into that territory of labeling someone a racist if they do not like the person. It’s almost as if the state Democratic party has placed some kind of a zombie trance on the people and the people have to follow orders given by the Mississippi Democratic politicians and trial lawyers.

Every time I have ever met Mr. Herring he has been a courteous gentleman. The speeches that I have personally attended have never had racist overtones. Never! Mr. Herring, it seems, is the victim in this case. The victim of personal attacks by people who cannot find a legitimate argument to make in regards to the conservative movement in Mississippi, so they label him a racist in hopes of censoring his efforts of promoting traditional values.

Mississippi Democratic Chairman Wayne Dowdy has demanded an apology for these comments, but I personally do not see where Mr. Herring should give an apology. As a matter of fact Mr. Herring is the person who an apology is owed for being labeled a racist when clearly the intentions were not racist. This goes to prove that liberals will use anything to further their cause including labeling people a racist in order to knock them out of power and then grab that power for themselves.

The Democrats really should be ashamed at calling someone a racist. Wasn’t it Southern Democrats that owned slaves who worked the cotton crops? Was it not Abraham Lincoln, a REPUBLICAN, who opposed this slavery in the south?  Wasn’t it the REPUBLICANS who were responsible for ending the civil rights oppression in a Democratic controlled south? Hmmm. That’s interesting. The same party that once owned slaves, caused a civil war that killed half a million people, and defended the KKK is now calling someone a racist. That is interesting indeed.

Mr. Herring has my full support and best wishes.

In Mississippi we are facing an election choice between current Governor Haley Barbour(R) and his opponent John eaves (D). Now Mr. John Eaves seems like a nice man. He is a Christian and according to his TV ads, and he is a conservative. He claims he will put Prayer back in schools when he is elected. However, he has been spotted with Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards before. My only questions is how can a claimed conservative who wishes to place prayer back into the public schools be a Democrat in Mississippi? It is people like Mr.Edwards who usually are the ones who follow lock step with the infamous ACLU in eradicating Christianity from the public arena altogether.  I cannot make a judgment against Mr. Eaves simply because I do not know him, have never spoken with him, and know little about his politics and personal beliefs about religion. It could be that he is a legitimate Christian conservative running as a Democrat. These type of Democrats did exist at one time. Maybe there lies some remnants of that era after all.

I can, however, make a judgment about Mr. Jim Herring.  My judgment about him is that he is a real, true conservative, and the Democratic party should leave him alone and let Mississippi elect more conservatives in order to preserve our heritage and values. Bullying is an ancient tradition and it is still used in Mississippi politics when the opposing team get some attention from the public majority.

What Mr.. Herring meant about the black caucus was not based upon racial ideologies, but more about liberalism versus conservatism in Mississippi. The Black caucus both in Washington and Mississippi are very liberal. Both Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson claim to be Reverend and Christian but wholeheartedly support the homosexual agenda. They should know better since the Bible condemns this activity. I am not doubting their faith, but am doubting their interpretation of the Bible. Liberals, both black and white, have often quoted from the Bible, but refuse to believe it as literal and therefore can provide the general public with liberal social policies that often contradict the Bible’s teachings.

The type of political arguments that Mr. Herring make fall more into the literal version of Biblical scripture than the social policies made by the Democratic party. Never would a real Bible believing Christian make a policy that promoted the slaughter of an infant inside the mother’s womb and never would Bible believing Christian promote homosexuality to children in elementary school or to anyone else in public for that matter.

As for the statements made by Jim Herring, I do not find it offensive, but find it true. Most liberals who run a campaign using religious belief often change course after election time and offer legislation that contradict their previous campaign statements and promises. Jim herring was right about such events and it was wrong of the Democratic establishment to take words out of context to try to gain power in November. The old saying goes “You get what you pay for” is thee same as “You get what you vote for” as well.

DDT...A Myth Exposed

One of the Three Biggest Boondoggles of the Century

Many times politics can be good. But when it’s bad—it’s bad. Especially when it means the death of millions. Unfortunately, sometimes the road has to be traveled for years before facts become known. One of the most hideous ones was the banning of a chemical named dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane. Or as the name many fear like the plague---“DDT”.

DDT had been typically used as an anti-malaria agent. Dr. Paul Muller and Geigy patented DDT in 1943 when it was found to quickly kill mosquitoes. Muller won the Nobel Prize in 1948 for his work on DDT. As a result of the campaign on mosquitoes DDT has prevented 500 million human deaths due to malaria, that otherwise would have been inevitable(1).

However in her 1962 book(Silent Spring) Rachel Carson sounded an alarm against DDT. She alleged how exposure to DDT seriously affected reproduction—mainly DDT-induced egg-shell thinning. After many controlled experiments, egg-shell thinning was found to be caused by lead, mercury, stress, older birds, dehydration, temperature extremes, human and predator intrusion, calcium and phosphorus deficiency, and even decreased illumination--but not DDT(8). Actually, DDT was found to reduce tumors in animals(9).

Unfortunately, population control activists blamed DDT for increasing third word populations. In the 1960’s, the World Health Organization(WHO) believed that the only alternative to the overpopulation problem was to assure that 40% of the children in poor nations would die of malaria. An official of the Agency for International Development even stated, “Rather dead than alive and riotously reproducing.”(3)

Alexander King, co-founder of the Club of Rome said, “In Guyana…it had almost eliminated malaria, but at the same time, the birth rate had doubled. So my chief quarrel with DDT in hindsight is that it greatly added to the population problem.” Jeff Hoffman, environmental attorney[grist.org] wrote, “Malaria was actually a natural population control, and DDT has actually caused a massive population explosion in some places where it has eradicated malaria.” It’s rather interesting that world population growth [www.worldonline] is actually a “bell” curve that tops out and starts decreasing in 2020.

In 1972, EPA Judge Edmund Sweeney stated that DDT is not a carcinogenic, mutagenic, or teratogenic hazard to man. Two months later, EPA head William Ruckelshaus overturned his decision, and essentially banned DDT. But after the ban, Ruckelshaus refused to release any technical information. He never read one page of Sweeney’s report, and later said that his decision was “political”, not scientific(5).

Fiona Kobusinye(4) begs for the use of DDT. She has been struck down with malaria many times. She states that the vomiting, high fevers, dehydration, headaches, joint pain and disorientation were excruciating. It’s known that malaria infects 400 million Africans alone every year, and costs Uganda over US$700 million annually in lost productivity. Politicians tell Africans they can’t use DDT, which keeps deadly anopheles mosquitoes out of their homes for 6 months, with just one spraying on their inside walls.

It is believed that [malaria] afflicts almost 500 million every year, with 2.7 million deaths, mainly among children under five(2). All told, 50-80 million deaths are blamed on the environmentalists’ ban of DDT.  Per Paul Driessen, millions of soldiers and civilians during and after WWII were sprayed right on their bodies to prevent malaria(5). And Walter Williams(TownHall) says, “After WWII, DDT saved millions upon millions of lives in India, Southeast Asia, and South America. In some cases, malaria deaths fell to near zero. With bans on DDT, malaria deaths and illnesses have skyrocketed.”

Driessen mentions(5) that DDT expert Dr. Gordon Edwards used to eat a spoonful of DDT whenever he gave a lecture on it. He finally died at age 85—of a heart attack while hiking in the mountains. Feeding primates more than 33,000 times the average daily human exposure to DDT was “inconclusive” with any carcinogenic effect(6).  Sen. Tom Coburn(7) says that the nicotine found in common cigarettes is 100 times more toxic than DDT. Even after 20 years research, DDT was found to have no increased risk of breast cancer or lymphoma, no adverse affects on humans, and no egg-shell thinning.

Michael Crichton(author) stated: “I can tell you that DDT is not a carcinogen…and should never have been banned.” Even the environmentalist National Geographic(7/07) uncharacteristically acknowledges columnist’s Michael Finkel’s contention that the international ban on DDT was a terrible mistake that cost millions of lives.

One can wonder how science has treated chemicals such as daminozide(“alar”/apples), and chlorofluorocarbons(ozone hole). Damnation by the uniformed public is a better description.

Two Books That Makes for a Great Summer Read

The first book is one that I encountered through an email and later purchased it in a local bookstore. It’s called A Field Guide to left Wing Wackos and What to Do About Them by Kfir Alfia and Alan Lipton, co-founders of Protest Warrior (www.protestwarrior.com). I never knew it, but the authors say that there are at least eighteen different species of liberal protestors. One of the catchy counter demonstration signs that Protest Warrior members hold up while demonstrating against left wing protests says “ Except for ending slavery,fascism,Nazism, and communism, war has never solved anything”. This statement takes aim at those who despise our military and country for waging wars. No one likes war, but sometimes it becomes inevitable to maintain sovereignty, peace, and national security. The book has numerous good points about how to recognize which of the eighteen categories that left wing protestors might fit into by the way they dress, etc. Even though Protest Warrior members often peacefully protest for conservative means, they are often criticized, and viciously attacked verbally by the very people who are screaming “PEACE! No MORE WAR!” The authors described it best in the introduction: “The protests became vicious, nasty,and intolerant, far different from the peaceful do-gooders portrayed in the media. left wingers spat on us, shouted us down, destroyed our signs, and assaulted us. Challenging left-wingers became as dangerous as feeding bears in Yellowstone Park. Left wingers seemed cute and cuddly, but they would rip off your head if you gave them a chance.” Indeed the modern liberal media portrays all war protests as peaceful and the protestors as innocent bystanders of a runaway government, but this book shows the protestors in their true form and how they are protected, encouraged, and empowered, by today’s liberal news media. 

The second book is called The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming and Environmentalism by Christopher C. Horner. Christopher Horner is a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute and an acknowledged expert on the so called “global warming”. He has spoken before Senate committees and the European Parliament. The book touches a nerve for those who declare themselves “green”. While there is nothing wrong with trying to conserve and take care of the planet, some people are exaggerating myths and putting the world into panic mode over nothing and it’s all backed by the modern mainstream media. This book would go hand in hand with the above mentioned simply because there are some left wingers out there that actually believe this whole global warming myth. I agree that climate change is real, but it is not manmade. I am currently writing my second book and one chapter is about the global warming scare tactic by the far left. It all comes down to control. The left wants to raise taxes and control big business and what better way to do it than to scare the American public half to death about something that is not true. It was in the 1970s that these same liberals and the media operated the coming ice age scare. Well, we all see that it never happened and in thirty or so years this thing will blow over just as well. This point is made clearly in the book and other facts. Facts like the earth has been hotter than it is now and that only a small portion of greenhouse gases are actually man made. This is a great book for summer reading. It’s just too bad that these same liberals were not around to help Noah tell others about the coming flood. A disaster that really changed the climate worldwide in a matter of days.

Church in Dallas refuses to bow down to homosexual pressure

There is a battle taking place in Dallas. It is a battle trying to force a church to lower their Scriptural standards to meet homosexual demands.

When High Point Church refused to allow their building to be used in a memorial service celebrating homosexuality, the homosexuals became very upset and started a campaign of harassment and public ridicule aimed at High Point.

If those pushing the homosexual agenda get their “hate crimes” bill passed into law, this is only a sample of what churches, pastors and Christians can expect.

The Dark Door of Embryonic Stem Cell Research

Recently Bush vetoed federal monies for Embryonic Stem Cell Research(ESCR). From the response, one would believe that he dumped all hopes for curing diseases down the commode. But this demonstrates just how misinformation can provoke a visceral emotional reaction that almost borders on irrationality. With nothing to gain except eternal life, Bush seems to have demonstrated courage under fire.

First, there was no ‘ban’ of ESCR, just a veto of using taxpayer funds for ESCR. Private organizations can, and are, utilizing fertilized embryos to attempt to combat certain diseases.

Second, the hopes generated by proponents of ESCR are dismal. What’s known is that ESCs show a disturbing tendency to turn into tumors when placed in animals. Researchers don’t even know how to stop these cancers from developing. As a result, there are “zero” successes using ESCs. Adult Stem Cells(ASC’s) on the other hand, have partial or total success treating 98 different diseases(as of this writing). Zero people have been helped with ESC’s. But tens of thousands have been helped with ASC’s.

Third, hype from actors such as Christopher Reeve(Superman) and Michael J. Fox(actor) teases a possible cure for their diseases. But no cure has been found. The fallacy that ESCR shows the most promise is a false hope.

Fourth, the gains by ASCs almost never get mentioned. Some of those include heart diseases, Krabbe Syndrome, Parkinson’s, leukemia, sickle-cell anemia, spinal cord injuries, and stroke. The cells can differentiate into cartilage, lung, liver, bone, nerve, skin, and many other types. ASC’s can come from the placenta, umbilical cord, hip bone, fat(from liposuction), and even from a cadaver(20 hours post mortem).

Fifth, it’s claimed that stems cells won’t be used by extremist groups. As can be seen above, adult stem cells(ASCs) differ greatly from embryonic stem cells(ESCs).  Actually, 3 out of 4 stem cell types do not involve destruction of the fertilized embryo. Those stem cell types are ethical and used frequently.

Sixth, the uninformed believe that any body cell(e.g., those killed by hand washing, etc…) is somehow an embryo. The more intelligent realize that an ESC requires an egg and a sperm for fertilization and a life.

Seventh, it’s said that with so many fertilized embryos slated to be disposed of, it’s acceptable to use them for research. Being ‘trapped’ in liquid nitrogen shouldn’t affect our decisions. Consider a radical case in which a group of children are permanently trapped in a schoolhouse. It would not be morally acceptable to send in a remote control robotic device to harvest organs and kill the children.

Eighth, in a time when budgets are tight, North Carolina is about to pass H-1837 to spend another $10 million on ESCR. The passage of this bill will be an invite for any state using taxpayer funds for this purpose.

Just look at the money. No thinking corporation would spend money on ESCR, so they want the government to foot the bill. But there’s no patent on using ASC’s, and major money cannot be made using one’s own body cells. Even the Multiple Sclerosis Society is critical of Bush’s decision. Are they ignorant of existing science, or maybe just too worried about their own mortal life on earth?

Most importantly, science, common sense, and morality dictate that life starts at conception. Any destruction of that fertilized embryo is an elimination of that life that likely has a soul. Naysayers have never been able to prove when they think a life begins, when a human body has a soul, or even when a life exists as outlined in the Constitution. Mankind has never evolved when humans only thought about themselves.

The summation of the above is shocking. ESCR is believed to be a human ‘suffering’ savior, even though it causes tumors, likely immunogenic(rejected after implantation), adds additional weight to the budget deficit, has zero successful attempts, and has is likely of destroying life at its initial stages. ASCR, on the other hand, has successfully treated almost 100 illnesses, is not immunogenic in any case, and is completely ethical in that it never destroys a life. The choice seems like a “no-brainer”. It almost sounds as if emotionalism has trumped those espousing ESCR, and rendered them without any judgmental ability.

Finding Faith on the Campaign Trail

The 2008 election is already emerging as a faith-filled affair—if you are to believe the rhetoric coming out of some candidate camps this campaign season.

The Democratic candidates for President in particular are attempting to be “born again” in the media spotlight.  This phenomenon appears to be the direct result of the success of “values voters” at the polls.  These “values voters” are sincere Americans who believe quite strongly that public policy should reflect traditional values such as love of God, love of family, and love of country.

But an interesting thing appears to be happening on the way to the candidate altar call.  As the president of Prison Fellowship Ministries, Mark Earley, has pointed out, there’s something amiss when candidates talk about God in one breath and killing God’s children through abortion in the next. 

In a recent column, Earley noted, “The problem is that all of this ‘God Talk’ misses the point: what Christians want – or should want – is a candidate who shares their moral and culture concerns, not just their religious vocabulary.”

Earley recognizes the ideological disconnect which occurs when candidates speak solemnly about religious faith, then flock to Planned Parenthood events to announce their unbridled support for abortion on demand.

“It’s difficult to imagine positions more at odds with the motivations of the very evangelical voters they’re trying to court,” Earley said. “Protecting the lives of unborn children has been the cornerstone of politically active Christians for the past thirty years.”

The mainstream media appear ready to grant their imprimatur to liberal candidates who invoke the name of the Almighty—so long as these same candidates support Roe v. Wade, the tragic Supreme Court ruling which has resulted in more than 47 million deaths.  For the press, an eleventh commandment is always in play—"Thou shalt not offend Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion operation.”

For far too long, the Democratic Party in particular has been held hostage by radical pro-abortion interests.  It is no coincidence that Democratic Presidential nominees adopt extreme pro-abortion positions.  The voices of pro-life Democrats are routinely stifled at the national level—even though there are plenty of rank-and-file Democrats who don’t believe that legal abortion is a good thing.

Recently, there’s been a move for Democratic Party leaders to soften their rhetoric on abortion.  Democrats calling themselves pro-life have even been elected to Congress.  However, when it comes to the highest office in the land, the door continues to bear a sign reading “pro-abortion Democrats only.”

Democrats can try to pull off an “Extreme Makeover-Religious Edition.” But so long as party leaders remain hostile to pro-life interests…so long as the party standard-bearer in the Presidential election is pro-abortion…evangelical Christian leaders have reason to be skeptical.  No matter how much party bigwigs want to forget the fact, the Christian religion is based on a pro-life view of the world.  And endorsements of abortion have no place in a religion that preaches loving your neighbor as yourself.  “Thou Shalt Not Kill” is not a slogan that can be tossed out like an old campaign bumper sticker.

The Handwriting is on the Wall!

But too many of us can’t understand it.

The sermon at Black Rock-Long Ridge Congregational Church (North
Stamford, Connecticut) was delivered by Pastor Larry Fullerton.  His
text was Daniel, chapter 5, the famous account of the fateful writing
that mysteriously appeared on the wall at Belshazzar’s feast.

Neither Belshazzar, nor his sorcerers and magicians could understand
the message.  But Daniel, a righteous man of God, understood and
delivered God’s message of doom, a message that unhappily applies to
our modern-day, largely Godless society.

King Belshazzar gave a great banquet for a thousand of his nobles
and drank wine with them. While Belshazzar was drinking his wine, he
gave orders to bring in the gold and silver goblets that
Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken from the temple in Jerusalem, so
that the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines might
drink from them.  So they brought in the gold goblets that had been
taken from the temple of God in Jerusalem, and the king and his
nobles, his wives and his concubines drank from them.  As they drank
the wine, they praised the gods of gold and silver, of bronze, iron,
wood and stone.

Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the
plaster of the wall, near the lampstand in the royal palace. The king
watched the hand as it wrote.  His face turned pale and he was so
frightened that his knees knocked together and his legs gave way.

The king called out for the enchanters, astrologers and diviners to
be brought and said to these wise men of Babylon, “Whoever reads this
writing and tells me what it means will be clothed in purple and have
a gold chain placed around his neck, and he will be made the third
highest ruler in the kingdom.”

Then all the king’s wise men came in, but they could not read the
writing or tell the king what it meant.  So King Belshazzar became
even more terrified and his face grew more pale. His nobles were
baffled.

The queen [mother], hearing the voices of the king and his nobles,
came into the banquet hall. “O king, live forever!” she said. “Don’t
be alarmed! Don’t look so pale!  There is a man in your kingdom who
has the spirit of the holy gods in him. In the time of your father he
was found to have insight and intelligence and wisdom like that of
the gods. King Nebuchadnezzar your father—your father the king, I
say—appointed him chief of the magicians, enchanters, astrologers
and diviners.  This man Daniel, whom the king called Belteshazzar,
was found to have a keen mind and knowledge and understanding, and
also the ability to interpret dreams, explain riddles and solve
difficult problems. Call for Daniel, and he will tell you what the
writing means.”

So Daniel was brought before the king, and the king said to him, “Are
you Daniel, one of the exiles my father the king brought from Judah? 
I have heard that the spirit of the gods is in you and that you have
insight, intelligence and outstanding wisdom.  The wise men and
enchanters were brought before me to read this writing and tell me
what it means, but they could not explain it.  Now I have heard that
you are able to give interpretations and to solve difficult problems. 
If you can read this writing and tell me what it means, you will be
clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck, and
you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”

Then Daniel answered the king, “You may keep your gifts for yourself
and give your rewards to someone else. Nevertheless, I will read the
writing for the king and tell him what it means.

“O king, the Most High God gave your father Nebuchadnezzar
sovereignty and greatness and glory and splendor.  Because of the
high position he gave him, all the peoples and nations and men of
every language dreaded and feared him. Those the king wanted to put
to death, he put to death; those he wanted to spare, he spared; those
he wanted to promote, he promoted; and those he wanted to humble, he
humbled.  But when his heart became arrogant and hardened with pride,
he was deposed from his royal throne and stripped of his glory.  He
was driven away from people and given the mind of an animal; he lived
with the wild donkeys and ate grass like cattle; and his body was
drenched with the dew of heaven, until he acknowledged that the Most
High God is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and sets over them
anyone he wishes.

“But you his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled yourself, though you
knew all this.  Instead, you have set yourself up against the Lord of
heaven. You had the goblets from his temple brought to you, and you
and your nobles, your wives and your concubines drank wine from them. 
You praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and
stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you did not honor
the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways.  Therefore
he sent the hand that wrote the inscription.”

This is the inscription that was written:

Mene , Mene , Tekel , Parsin

This is what these words mean:

Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.

Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.

Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”

Then at Belshazzar’s command, Daniel was clothed in purple, a gold
chain was placed around his neck, and he was proclaimed the third
highest ruler in the kingdom.

That very night Belshazzar, king of the Babylonians, was slain, and
Darius the Mede took over the kingdom, at the age of sixty-two.

Among the many lessons to be drawn from Daniel, chapter 5, are:

• Each of us has a final day of life.  Belshazzar was unready for
his.  Will we be ready for ours?

• Chapter 5 is to be understood against the background of chapter
4, which describes King Nebuchadnezzar’s pride and downfall into
madness, then his return to sanity after acknowledging that the God
of Israel was the sovereign God of the universe.  The import is that
pride in self and in worldly accomplishment is a form of insanity. 
Humbling oneself before God is sanity.  Sin is substituting our
willfull pride for God’s will.

• Belshazzar, to whom the story of Nebuchadnezzar was surely known,
learned nothing from it.  He chose pridefully to blaspheme against
God by bringing into the banquet the silver and gold goblets that had
been pillaged from the temple in Jerusalem, a direct affront to God. 
And, of course, he was worshipping false gods.

• Daniel symbolizes the remnant of God-fearing and righteous people
who, despite society’s persecutions, remain steadfast to God’s laws. 
When the chips were down, even when Belshazzar offered him rich
reward, Daniel spoke the unvarnished truth, fearless of the possible
consequences to himself.

• As did Daniel, the God-fearing remnant under pressure in today’s
increasingly, aggressively atheistic and hostile society must
maintain faith in God to deliver us from evil.

• If we remain heedless, as did Belshazzar, it may be too late. 
Our hour may be at hand.

Candidates Court Same-Sex Couples
While Most Americans Oppose Same-Sex Marriage

Los Angeles, CA - The Democratic presidential candidates will reach out to
homosexual and lesbian voters through an upcoming televised debate scheduled for
August 9 on a cable network geared toward supporters of the same-sex lifestyle.

The Human Rights Campaign, a homosexual and lesbian rights advocacy group, will
host the event along with Logo, a cable network geared to the homosexual and
lesbian community. Early reports indicate that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton,
Senator Barack Obama and John Edwards will participate in the debate in Los
Angeles at 6 p.m. on August 9, which will air live on Logo.

One of the topics on the debate will be whether the candidates support same-sex
marriage, adoption, civil unions and the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”
policy for homosexuals and lesbians. The candidates positions on these issues
will determine not only which candidate the homosexual and lesbian voters will
support, but will provide information for the majority of Americans who reject
the radical homosexual agenda and support traditional family values.

Over the past year an increasing number of Americans have recognized that
same-sex marriage should not be legalized. According to the most recent national
survey released by the Pew Research Center, 57% of the public oppose same-sex
marriage. Last year only 51% opposed same-sex marriage. The results clearly show
that opinion is shifting. More and more Americans are supporting the
centuries-old definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

Additionally, the results of the survey showed that the majority also oppose
so-called “civil unions,” which is merely different way of giving same-sex
couples the benefits of marriage under a different name. The number of
supporters for civil unions, which would give same-sex couples many of the same
rights and benefits as married couples, dropped to 45%, the lowest it has been
since 2003. Only 11% of the public say that same-sex couple parenting is good
for society, while 50% saying it is bad for society. The survey results are
found in an 88-page Pew Research Center report that compiled interviews of over
2,000 randomly-chosen adult participants.

grow as more Americans realize that the institution of marriage is the bedrock
of our society and is necessary to support the healthy development of this

This Bible verse accurately describes Christ as co-Creator even though some evolutionists and atheists deny the existence of an Intelligent Design of the universe.
