Fossils...
Q: A fossil clock—what does it mean?
A: Because of the intense evolutionary indoctrination we’ve all received, most people assume that it takes millions of years for sediment—like sand or mud—to harden into rock. But given the right ingredients, this can actually happen quickly. Mixing cement is an obvious example, by the way.
On our website, we showed the picture of the mechanism of a clock encased in solid rock, along with sea shells. Of course, no one believes this clock was made millions of years ago. The clock was found in 1975 near a jetty at Westport, Washington. We know that there have been many shipwrecks in this area.
Obviously, the right mix of sand and other substances hardened around this clock, making it look like a clock in hard rock!
There’s really nothing spectacular about this at all—these sorts of things happen all the time in different parts of the world. But the average person doesn’t usually hear about them, and thus they go on thinking that rocks and fossils must take millions of years to form.
This “clock in the rock” will eventually be displayed in our Creation Museum near Cincinnati, where we’ll be teaching people the truth about the history of the world … according to the Bible.
For more information about fossils, see Fossils Questions and Answers @ http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/faq/fossils.asp

Global Craziness...
Global Craziness
By Nathan Tabor
This week—perhaps emboldened by the groundhog predicting an early spring—Old Man Winter came roaring back, blanketing much of the nation with a sheet of ice. In fact, a number of residents of the Midwest and Northeast felt as if they were living in a new Ice Age, thanks to a thick coat of ice that brought vehicular traffic to a standstill.
As they shivered amid wind-chill levels well below zero, it must have come as a comfort that Al “Global Warming” Gore is once again at work, trying to free the world from the tyranny of temperatures above the freezing mark.
Gore announced plans this week for a series of musical concerts designed to, in Gore’s words, “solve the climate crisis.” His accomplices in this mission of misguided mercy include musical artists ranging from the rapper Snoop Dogg to American Idol star Kelly Clarkson.
Venues for the “Live Earth” concerts include Shanghai, Sydney, Johannesburg, London, and yet-to-be-determined cities in Japan, Brazil, and the U.S. The campaign behind this effort is ironically titled, “Save Our Selves.”
Gore was quoted as saying, “We are launching SOS and Live Earth to begin a process of communication that will mobilize people all over the world to take action. The climate crisis will only be stopped by an unprecedented and sustained global movement. We hope to jump-start that movement right here, right now, and take it to a new level on July 7, 2007.”
Earth to Gore: It’s 12 degrees outside. Are we really suffering from global warming—or just a liberal propaganda campaign that’s now gone musical?
It’s heart-warming to see musical artists come together for a good cause—after all, what would Labor Day be without the Jerry Lewis Telethon? But fighting muscular dystrophy is one thing—fighting Mother Nature is quite another.
By trying to cast Mother Nature as an extremist, environmentalists such as Gore are trying to hide their own extremism. Their solution to the earth’s problems is to regulate businesses out of existence. They’d sacrifice American jobs to save a single tree, and they often put animals on a pedestal above human beings. It’s a world view that’s positively frightening but, unfortunately, there are no rock concert promoters around who are willing to stage a musical extravaganza to combat environmental extremism.
Since when does a failed Presidential candidate have such pull with the music industry? I don’t hear of Ross Perot getting the Black Eyed Peas to sing for his pet projects.
When the worlds of music and politics embrace, it is often a scary proposition for us all. Look at how many folk groups credited themselves with ending the Vietnam War. Forget military strategy and political acumen, to their way of thinking, it’s four-part harmonies that determine victory or defeat on the battlefield.
I can only hope that, when the SOS concerts roll around, this week’s deep freeze will be fresh in the memories of Americans who might otherwise be hoodwinked by the global warming crowd.

Religious Freedom saved...
On Religious Freedom, Justice Is Served
Stating that “nothing defines us more as Americans [than] our religious liberties,” Attorney General Alberto Gonzales unveiled the Justice Department’s “First Freedom Project” to the Southern Baptist Executive Committee in Nashville yesterday. His new Religious Freedom Task Force will step up enforcement of laws prohibiting discrimination on the basis of religion and will educate churches on how to file complaints about violations of their rights. We applaud Attorney General Gonzales for recognizing the ongoing threat to religious freedom and for taking firm steps to defend our “first freedom.”
-------------------------------------------------
Gore: Killing Us Softly With His Songs?
There’s a little “inconvenient truth” about Al Gore’s concert series to promote global warming awareness. His new S.O.S. (Save Ourselves) performances, to feature artists like Bon Jovi and Sting, have the potential to unleash more pollution and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in one day than some nations create in a year. If Gore succeeds in drawing three million people to each show, as well as streaming the concerts on the web and broadcasting them on television, his efforts would render about 200,000 metric tons of carbon when the conversions from electricity are calculated. To put those numbers in perspective, the concerts would generate more CO2 in one day than the entire nation of Afghanistan has produced in the past year. If Gore buys carbon offsets to make up for the pollution the shows create, which is a likely assumption, he had better buy some gardening gloves. Since it takes an acre of Douglas fir trees (after 50 years of growing time) to offset 1,000 tons of CO2, then Gore will need to plant several hundred acres of firs to make up for one concert. We have a better idea. Skip the concerts and start planting the trees.

Help rides alone...
Hope Rides Alone
USA Sgt. Eddie Jeffers, USA (Iraq)
February 1, 2007
Original appearance/Resources : http://therant.us/guest/e_jeffers/02012007.htm
Editor’s Note: This piece by Sgt. Eddie Jeffers, “Hope Rides Alone”, was mentioned in a segment on Fox News Channel’s O’Reilly Factor.
I stare out into the darkness from my post, and I watch the city burn to the ground. I smell the familiar smells, I walk through the familiar rubble, and I look at the frightened faces that watch me pass down the streets of their neighborhoods. My nerves hardly rest; my hands are steady on a device that has been given to me from my government for the purpose of taking the lives of others.
I sweat, and I am tired. My back aches from the loads I carry. Young American boys look to me to direct them in a manner that will someday allow them to see their families again...and yet, I too, am just a boy....my age not but a few years more than that of the ones I lead. I am stressed, I am scared, and I am paranoid...because death is everywhere. It waits for me, it calls to me from around street corners and windows, and it is always there.
There are the demons that follow me, and tempt me into thoughts and actions that are not my own...but that are necessary for survival. I’ve made compromises with my humanity. And I am not alone in this. Miles from me are my brethren in this world, who walk in the same streets...who feel the same things, whether they admit to it or not.
And to think, I volunteered for this...
And I am ignorant to the rest of the world...or so I thought.
But even thousands of miles away, in Ramadi, Iraq, the cries and screams and complaints of the ungrateful reach me. In a year, I will be thrust back into society from a life and mentality that doesn’t fit your average man. And then, I will be alone. And then, I will walk down the streets of America, and see the yellow ribbon stickers on the cars of the same people who compare our President to Hitler.
I will watch the television and watch the Cindy Sheehans, and the Al Frankens, and the rest of the ignorant sheep of America spout off their mouths about a subject they know nothing about. It is their right, however, and it is a right that is defended by hundreds of thousands of boys and girls scattered across the world, far from home. I use the word boys and girls, because that’s what they are. In the Army, the average age of the infantryman is nineteen years old. The average rank of soldiers killed in action is Private First Class.
People like Cindy Sheehan are ignorant. Not just to this war, but to the results of their idiotic ramblings, or at least I hope they are. They don’t realize its effects on this war. In this war, there are no Geneva Conventions, no cease fires. Medics and Chaplains are not spared from the enemy’s brutality because it’s against the rules. I can only imagine the horrors a military Chaplain would experience at the hands of the enemy. The enemy slinks in the shadows and fights a coward?s war against us. It is effective though, as many men and women have died since the start of this war. And the memory of their service to America is tainted by the inconsiderate remarks on our nation’s news outlets. And every day, the enemy changes...only now, the enemy is becoming something new. The enemy is transitioning from the Muslim extremists to Americans. The enemy is becoming the very people whom we defend with our lives. And they do not realize it. But in denouncing our actions, denouncing our leaders, denouncing the war we live and fight, they are isolating the military from society...and they are becoming our enemy.
Democrats and peace activists like to toss the word “quagmire” around and compare this war to Vietnam. In a way they are right, this war is becoming like Vietnam. Not the actual war, but in the isolation of country and military. America is not a nation at war; they are a nation with its military at war. Like it or not, we are here, some of us for our second, or third times; some even for their fourth and so on. Americans are so concerned now with politics, that it is interfering with our war.
Terrorists cut the heads off of American citizens on the internet...and there is no outrage, but an American soldier kills an Iraqi in the midst of battle, and there are investigations, and sometimes soldiers are even jailed...for doing their job.
It is absolutely sickening to me to think our country has come to this. Why are we so obsessed with the bad news? Why will people stop at nothing to be against this war, no matter how much evidence of the good we’ve done is thrown in their face? When is the last time CNN or MSNBC or CBS reported the opening of schools and hospitals in Iraq? Or the leaders of terror cells being detained or killed? It’s all happening, but people will not let up their hatred of President Bush. They will ignore the good news, because it just might show people that Bush was right.
America has lost its will to fight. It has lost its will to defend what is right and just in the world. The crazy thing of it all is that the American people have not even been asked to sacrifice a single thing. It?s not like World War II, where people rationed food and turned in cars to be made into metal for tanks. The American people have not been asked to sacrifice anything. Unless you are in the military or the family member of a servicemember, its life as usual...the war doesn’t affect you.
But it affects us. And when it is over and the troops come home and they try to piece together what’s left of them after their service...where will the detractors be then? Where will the Cindy Sheehans be to comfort and talk to soldiers and help them sort out the last couple years of their lives, most of which have been spent dodging death and wading through the deaths of their friends? They will be where they always are, somewhere far away, where the horrors of the world can’t touch them. Somewhere where they can complain about things they will never experience in their lifetime; things that the young men and women of America have willingly taken upon their shoulders.
We are the hope of the Iraqi people. They want what everyone else wants in life: safety, security, somewhere to call home. They want a country that is safe to raise their children in. Not a place where their children will be abducted, raped and murdered if they do not comply with the terrorists demands. They want to live on, rebuild and prosper. And America has given them the opportunity, but only if we stay true to the cause and see it to its end. But the country must unite in this endeavor...we cannot place the burden on our military alone. We must all stand up and fight, whether in uniform or not. And supporting us is more than sticking yellow ribbon stickers on your cars. It’s supporting our President, our troops and our cause.
Right now, the burden is all on the American soldiers. Right now, hope rides alone. But it can change, it must change. Because there is only failure and darkness ahead for us as a country, as a people, if it doesn’t.
Let’s stop all the political nonsense, let’s stop all the bickering, let’s stop all the bad news and let’s stand and fight!
Isn’t that what America is about anyway?

Days of Genesis 1...
Q: Aren’t the days of Genesis 1 just an issue of language?
A: The true meaning of the days of creation is, in part, a language issue. After all, the only way words have meaning to all of us is because we stick to the rules of grammar for a particular language. But many people—including some Christian leaders—want to change the rules when it comes to the meaning of the days of creation.
The word “day” as used in Genesis 1, according to the rules of the Hebrew language, means an ordinary day in that particular context.
Yet even though most theologians agree that the word “day” in Genesis 1 means a 24-hour day, many say it can’t mean that because the universe is obviously billions of years old.
By doing this, they are actually saying that the fallible dating methods of fallible man are more important than the actual words of the Bible that God inspired people to write. Thus they’re making man the authority—not God.
Yes, this is an authority issue. The Word of God should be read as written and used to judge the fallible words of man—not the other way round!
For more information about the meaning of the word “day” in the Bible, see How long were the days of Genesis 1? @ http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v19/i1/days.asp

New Hampshire Committee Votes to Silence Parents...
New Hampshire Committee Votes to Silence Parents
While nearly a dozen states debate laws that would expand parents’ rights, the New Hampshire legislature is working overtime to undermine them. Since 2003, the Granite State has had a parental notification law on the books, requiring at least one parent to be informed 48 hours before their minor daughter has an abortion. Planned Parenthood, concerned that the law would scare off business, challenged the measure in court on the grounds that it didn’t include a health exemption for the mother. Ultimately, the suit landed in the U.S. Supreme Court, where, in January of last year, the justices reversed a ruling that had struck down the law. Now the state legislature is fighting to repeal the law, insisting that the government--not moms or dads--should be the ultimate authority on matters that affect children’s health. Yesterday, the House Judiciary Committee voted 12-5 in favor of abolishing a parents’ right to know. From there, the measure will go before the full state House for a vote and, if successful, could be signed into law by Gov. John Lynch (D) as early as March. If the appeal passes, the court case is moot. When FRC attempted to alert our supporters in New Hampshire to the urgency of this issue, we were informed that unless our organization had a lobbyist registered in the state, we were forbidden from e-mailing New Hampshire voters. Obviously, the government is intent on silencing those that would expose their strategy to suppress parents on an issue as vital as teen abortion. In fact, some leaders consider the whole matter of parental notification a distraction from state business. As Rep. Liz Hager (R) said, “Let’s get this expensive, unconstitutional problem behind us.” However, the true expense will be the toll on innocent, human lives should the state erase a law that serves to give young girls pause about killing their unborn babies. Our friend Karen Testerman, head of New Hampshire’s Cornerstone Policy Research, is circulating a petition in hopes of persuading elected officials--not to change their position on abortion, but to uphold parents’ rights. For more information on Cornerstone’s efforts, log on to www.cnht.org .

Mike Evans’ Iraq Journal, Part II
January 30, 2007, Northern Iraq
(I am interviewing Adnan Mufti, Speaker of the House of Kurdistan.)
“I read the Iraq Study Group report that criticized your region for not flying the Iraq flag,” I said.
Adnan responded, “Yes, they did. This was the same flag planted in over 5000 villages that were gassed. We have a constitution, and our region is democratic. Why must we fly the Iraqi flag? Would the U.S. ask the Jews that suffered in the Holocaust to fly the Nazi flag? We refuse to honor the ‘Hitler’ who gassed our people; we want the new flag approved by our Constitution.” Adnan also rejected the Iraq Study Group’s proposal that two terror states, Iran and Syria, “meddle in our affairs.”
“Why,” he asked, “did no one from the Iraq Study Group come here? They ask where the proof is that the Bush policy is succeeding in Iraq. We are the proof. Your nations saved us from extermination. We are a stable region that is a model of everything the U.S. wants for Iraq. Why is it being kept hidden?” I am reminded as I look into his eyes that he was the target of a bomb attack by fanatic Muslims because of his strong support for America, and was poisoned by Saddam Hussein, and almost died.
Adnan placed a letter in my hands to deliver to President Bush and Vice President d*** Cheney. He said, “I sent it through diplomatic channels via the U.S. Ambassador, but did not hear back.” I promised I would do my best to get it into the hands of the President.
I found the Kurds to be very tolerant of other religions. They enjoyed telling me their history, which traces back to the Medes. From the story of Daniel in the lion’s den and the conversion of the Mede king, Darius, to the appeal of a Jewish orphan, Esther. They told me of the Magi, the wise men who followed the star and presented gifts to the Christ child, and of the Medes who were converted on the day of Pentecost.
They told me about Christians by the tens of thousands that had fled north out of Sunni and Shiite strongholds toward the Valley of Nineveh, a few miles from Erbil. The horrible story of a fourteen-year-old being crucified for sharing his faith broke my heart as I thought of the innocence of my own precious grandchildren. I heard of a pastor who was beheaded for sharing the Gospel, and of women having had acid thrown in their faces for going to church. The church in Iraq is under siege, yet the world remains silent.
I found it strange that the U.S. has no base in Erbil to fight the war on terror. The greatest success story in all of Iraq, a model to inspire true democracy, is being completely ignored. Kurdistan is where America needs to invest its money rather than bleed money from Kurdistan into the coffers of the regimes that consider America the enemy. I also found it odd that 400 billion dollars has been spent in Iraq, and the Kurds have no U.S. military equipment with which to fight the war on terror. To see our allies using old Russian AK-47s is an embarrassment.
In this book, I will give you a no-spin understanding of the problem, but also of the solution. The first step is to begin by rewarding our allies and stop appeasing our enemies; what a novel approach.
As an example, I believe the U.S. needs to move a major military base into Erbil and allow the Kurds to have 100 percent of the money they were promised. This is not happening. The U.S. needs to reward stable regimes economically. To do it, the U.S. must stand up to Turkey and Iran, both of which hate the Kurds. The Kirkuk oilfields should be turned over to the Kurds that have, in the past, controlled the Kirkuk region. Saddam killed them to get them out and moved pro-Saddam regimes in to protect his investment.
The word in the U.S. is to redefine the war goals in Iraq. Yet, it is clear that the U.S .has been 100 percent successful in the Kurdish region which represents millions of people. I have proposed to the Iraqi Kurdish leaders that I would work with them to host an Iraq Study Group in the U.S. based on moral clarity, as opposed to an “appeasement study group.”
The war in Iraq can be won; one only needs to go to Kurdistan to see one of the greatest success stories. Military moms and dads need to go to Kurdistan. When they do, they will be treated as heroes and will know that the sacrifice was not in vain. The Kurdish people run to kiss them and honor them in ways beyond America’s ability to imagine. They love the families because they, too, have lost loved ones. They are filled with amazing compassion and gratitude.
The U.S. National Intelligence Agency declassified a report suggesting that President Bush’s new strategy for controlling violence must show progress within twelve to eighteen months or risk further deterioration. Show progress? What a sick joke. You have one-fourth of Iraq living in stability; not one U.S. soldier has been killed there…ever. There has not been a terror attack in 18 months. If that is not progress, what is?
Robert Gates, U.S. Secretary of Defense, says that the U.S. is planning to stop Iran from contributing to the violence in Iraq. If so, the border with Iran must be closed, the Embassy and consulates closed, and the Iraqis that have proven their allegiance, i.e., the Kurds, must be given the tools to do the job. It is not securing Baghdad; it is about isolating Iran. That will not happen unless the push is from the north to the south, with the Iraqi Kurds doing the pushing. The Turkish army has already pushed its way into Southern Kurdistan. If the U.S. does not move into the area quickly, the Turks and the Iranians will. The war must be fought north to south with allies, not south to north with enemies.
Over and over I have been told that Iraqi ministries in Baghdad are helping the terrorists. The Shiites and Sunnis will not end their conflict; it is being fueled and fed by Arab countries. The only hope to save Iraq is by enlisting the Iraqi Kurds.
Winning the war in Iraq will not happen by fighting in Central or Southern Iraq. America is not going to win over corrupt theocracies by distorting their reality. Getting in bed with the enemy is not the solution; it is the problem.
It is so obvious to me that Iraq is headed over the cliff of an Islamic revolution that is being birthed between the Shiites and Sunnis.

Liberals abusing our tax dollars to fund biased programming...
Liberals want to force tax-payers to fund their programming!
Left wing MoveOn.org already has nearly 400,000 signed petitions urging the government to fund “their” news with our tax dollars.
The liberals are at it again! They want to use hundreds of millions of your tax dollars to insure that PBS and NPR can continue to spew forth what is America’s most liberal slant on the news. And they are determined to force you to pay for it!
Already, MoveOn.org has gathered more than 370,000 names on their petition to send to Congress demanding that PBS and NPR be funded permanently with your tax dollars. Click http://www.afa.net/moveonemail.htm to see what MoveOn.org is doing.
Those who believe that government has no business funding liberal news outlets have a lot of catching up to do. Please help us gather more signatures than the liberals at MoveOn.org get.
In case you are not aware, MoveOn.org is heavily funded by George Soros, the billionaire who spent $27 million of his own money trying to defeat George W. Bush. Bill O’Reilly calls him the leader of the secular progressives in America.
Every other non-profit broadcaster (which is what PBS and NPR are) has to raise their own funds, not go to the government to get hundreds of millions of dollars to operate. If PBS and NPR want to exist, let those who listen to them support them! Tell Congress not to tax you to pay for their programming!

BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK
Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

News...
States Celebrate Marriage on St. Valentine’s Day
From every indication in D.C., this Congress is set to be the most anti-family legislature in over a decade. During its brief stint in power, the liberal leadership has introduced hate crimes legislation that seeks to punish thought, ignored the expiration of important tax cuts (which will result in a tremendous tax hike for American families), and worked to eradicate parental rights on issues like abortion and children’s health care. Considering that current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has voiced strong support of same-sex marriage in the past, it is extremely unlikely she will allow a vote on an amendment that protects traditional marriage from homosexual activists, many of whom are members of Pelosi’s base. Fortunately, while Congress refuses to act, the states are willing to move. In the Garden State of New Jersey, a coalition of clergy and grassroots advocates has banded together for a petition drive in support of a state marriage protection amendment. The association, which calls itself the Trenton Group, was formed in an effort to counter the state Supreme Court’s ruling from last year which forces the state legislature to recognize same-sex marriage. Meanwhile, in the Hoosier state, the Indiana State Senate overwhelmingly passed an amendment that defines marriages as the union of a man and woman with strong bipartisan support. Before the bill is put before the citizens of Indiana, it must first be approved by the state House. While families are being forced to play defense in the nation’s capital, it’s good to see that they’ve been allowed to gain ground in the states

Voting for what is right...
Christians by the tens of thousands have fled north out of Sunni and Shiite strongholds toward the Valley of Nineveh, a few miles from Erbil.
Should the U.S. designate a portion of your tax-dollars going into the Shiite-controlled Iraqi government in Baghdad for a city of refuge for persecuted Christians fleeing to Kurdistan?
Vote your opinion now at www.jerusalemprayerteam.org
The results will be sent to President Bush.

ObamaNation.Com to Expose Sen. Obama’s Position on Abortion
Columbus, OH – Feb. 8, 2006 – In anticipation of the Feb. 10 announcement in Springfield, Ill. that Sen. Barack Hussein Obama will run to become president of the United States, Christians for Social Justice has launched www.ObamaNation.Com , a website exposing the hypocrisy of Barack Hussein Obama on the greatest moral issue of our time – abortion.
Pastor Clenard H. Childress, Jr. an African American Pastor and leader of the largest Black Pro Life group in America says “abortion is black genocide. Each day, 1452 African Americans are murdered by abortion. 4,000 children over all. There has been over 15 million African American children dismembered in the womb by the abortion holocaust and as many women victimized. Sen. Obama supports of the wholesale slaughter of our own community by abortion.”

A Vision for “First the Gospel, Then Politics...” A
Passion for “The Love of Hard Questions.”
_____________________________________________________________________
TEI Update #168, February 10, 2007
Dear Friends in Christ:
Greetings, as always, in the love of the Lord.
This upcoming week I will be speaking at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in
Bartlesville, OK, and LeTourneau University in Longview, TX. The occasion is
due to Mel White’s group, Soulforce, and the protests Soulforce is staging on
Christian College campuses nationwide. These two Christian Colleges have been
promised a protesting “visit” in the spring by Soulforce.
As some in our midst may know, Mel White is the former ghostwriter for people
such as Billy Graham, Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, and a former professor
at Fuller Theological Seminary. Then he divorced his wife, claiming he was born
homosexual, and moved in with a male partner. He also claims still to be an
evangelical Christian, and that the evangelical church has sinned against him
and fellow homosexuals who live in “committed relationships” by not accepting
them. He reverses the language of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis 19, says the
sins of the Sodomites was a matter of being “inhospitable” more than issues of
homosexuality. Thus, he reasons that evangelical Christians today who do not
accept him as “a stranger at the gate” are, at least by implication, the true
Sodomites.
I debated Mel White on the radio in 1994, and he asked me if I believed that
homosexual persons today deserve the death penalty as in the Law of Moses—
saying that if I took the Bible literally, I must believe in such a position. I
answered by showing how those who would commit homosexual acts in ancient
Israel would do so as an act of political treason against Yahweh. A capital
offense against the nation where Yahweh was King. If any Israelite wanted to
commit homosexual acts, all the pagan nations surrounding Israel would have no
problem with it. He could leave Israel anytime and go to a pagan nation. In
fact, the Law of Moses and the ancient Israelite nation was the only religion
and culture that then said no to homosexuality.
At a deeper level, the nature of a biblical theocracy is rooted in informed
choice, as Moses and Joshua made clear—choose whether or not to serve
Yahweh, and Yahweh has proven his goodness ahead of time. The Israelite
theocracy existed only in a certain period of time as a political wall of
protection against the enemies of the Messianic lineage. That season was a)
ended with the Babylonian exile, and b) fulfilled when Jesus came the first
time as Messiah and Suffering Servant. Thus, before anyone chose to live in or
remain in theocratic Israel, he or she had to first agree that the Law of Moses
was good, and it was intended for the protection of their lives, liberties and
properties.
There are only two biblical theocracies in history—from Moses to Jeremiah,
and when Jesus returns as the reigning King. Both theocracies are by definition
“communities of choice.”
Thus, our calling as Christians in this age between the two theocracies is to
affirm the unalienable rights of all persons equally, including homosexuals;
but none of us can injure the life, liberty or property of another person
without being accountable to the law—in all directions. And for homosexual
persons, and in all their struggles, we celebrate the preaching of Jesus, and
repentance and deliverance through the power of the Holy Spirit. But if they
choose homosexuality over the Gospel, then they will face judgment on the Last
Day, as will all people who deliberately refuse God’s Word and goodness. No one
is forced into eternal life. Thus I will defend the unalienable rights of a
homosexual person, not because he or she is homosexual, but because we are all
made in the same image of God. The Good News of Jesus is that he loved us when
we were his enemies in unbelief, so that we can become his friends in turning
to him. We invite homosexual persons to repent and join !
the kingdom of God, but we force nothing.
Mel said it was the most Christian answer he ever heard, and that he and I
would burn up the telephone wires debating the Scriptures. But after the radio
show, he cut off any further debate possibilities. He was offered a generous
honorarium and travel to debate me at Dr. D. James Kennedy’s church in Fort
Lauderdale, but said no—even though he had protested at Kennedy’s church
before, and has protested at Falwell’s church and Robertson’s CBN headquarters.
Even yet, in his most recent email to me in 2004, he said that for some reason
he could not help liking me. The truth can be spoken in love, if we are fully
biblical.
In a nutshell, Soulforce is seeking to force Christian ministries and colleges
to deny the Word of God. At Oklahoma Wesleyan and LeTourneau I will outline a
comprehensive answer and challenge to Soulforce. And in my next email, I will
have various links ready with further information.
I am always grateful for your prayers and financial support. Check out the new
professionally upgraded website, www.teinetwork.com . Soon we plan to have
online ability to order DVDS and etc., register for certain Mars Hill Forums,
and also to make financial contributions.
Blessings and your servant in Jesus,
John

Save California...
Homosexuals and supporters in CA to assault marriage law on Valentine’s Day
Lawlessness will reign on Valentine’s Day in California.
People like this woman do not respect the law now, nor the rights of others,
nor God’s created order. We need to pray for her and her lack of respect for
the words of Jesus in Matthew 19, that from the beginning, we were created male
and female and that is how we are to marry.
This first item is from a pro-homosexual website. The second is from the pro-
family group, Campaign for Children and Families, www.savecalifornia.com .

BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Gideons Persecuted for free speech
The Good Book on Bad Terms at Florida School
Speaking of religious intolerance, those grandmothers may have to make room in their cell if a case against two members of Gideon’s International succeeds. Last month, Ernest Simpson and Anthony Mirto were peacefully distributing Bibles to students outside of Florida’s Key Largo School, and despite the fact that the two men never stepped on school property, the principal called police. When officers asked the men to leave or face trespassing charges, Simpson and Mirto agreed to go --but apparently not fast enough to suit police, who arrested them anyway. Our good friends at the Alliance Defense Fund have offered to represent the men, stating, “Officials cannot use fear of arrest as a means of bullying law-abiding Christians into silence.” The real trespass here is the one the school committed on the right to free speech.

A Soldier's Commentary on the War in Iraq...
Subject: A Soldier’s Commentary on Iraq
Following the article I sent about Bush’s national address and troop increase, I thought it was a good idea to let you all know what the perspective is over here. I’m tired of hearing the media’s skewed version, the politicians squabbling over what they read in a report, and the average ill-informed American ranting about things he knows NOTHING about.
I’ve been over here a couple of months now, and I’ve learned more about this country than a year’s worth of watching CNN. I’ve sat in mission briefs with Colonels, talked with village elders, had tea with Shieks, played with the kids. And I agree with the President. We need more troops and we need to take greater action.
There are 3 major factions here. The Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds. The Shiites are in the majority, but Saddam was a Sunni, so he kept the Shiites in check. Everyone hates the Kurds, who are Christian and in the vast minority. The Kurds received the brunt of Saddam’s murderous tyranny. Now that Saddam is gone, the Shiites have taken control of Baghdad. The largely peaceful Sunnis are now the victims of radical Shiite terrorism. So the young Sunni men, who can no longer go to work and support their families, do what all young men would do. They join the Sunni militia and battle the Shiites. And thus the country sits on the brink of civil war.
But this war is between them. They largely do not concern themselves with the U.S. troops. The insurgents who battle the Coalition Forces are from outside the country. And the biggest problem down here isn’t the insurgents. Its the politicians. The local politicians. Even though the country is controlled by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, downtown Baghdad is controlled by radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr. The Shiites follow al-Sadr and thus the Prime Minister does what al-Sadr says. Think of it as if a warlord controlled New York and blackmailed the President into diplomatic immunity.
When 1st Cav (mainly 2/5 Cav) came here in 2004, they took downtown Baghdad (known as Sadr City) by force. It cost many lives, but after a year, we held an iron grip on the largest insurgent breeding ground in Iraq. The insurgents were afraid of the Horse People, and rightfully so. But when 1st Cav left, al-Sadr influenced the Prime Minister to kick out the Coalition forces from that area of Baghdad. He said the Iraqi military forces could hold the city. But all that happened was al-Sadr regained control of his city, and it is now a heavily guarded fortress. A place where insurgents and terrorists can train and stockpile arms. And we cannot go back in because the Prime Minister won’t let us. Our hands are tied.
So where does al-Sadr get his backing? From Iran and Syria. Iran supplies him with money and Syria supplies the terrorists. The insurgents that battle the Coalition Forces are from Syria, Somalia and dozens of other places outside of Iraq. Iraq is literally a terrorist breeding ground. They have terrorist and sniper schools here. Why not? They train by teaching them to attack the military forces here. And they have an endless supply of these training tools. They have factories in Sadr City to build bombs. BothIran and Syria have openly proclaimed their number one goal in life is to destroy the great Western Devil and the little Western Devil (America and Britain). Iran wants to control Iraq to further this purpose. Al-Sadr will get to “run” the country and live like a king, but in reality Iran will pull the puppet strings. Iran will have access to thousands of radical Shiites who will do whatever al-Sadr tells them to. And Iraq will be used as a breeding ground for terrorism, terrorism that will be targeted directly at America andBritain. The Iraq Study Group advised we should let Iran and Syria help with rebuilding? Bravo to President Bush for striking that idea down and vowing to keep those two countries out of Iraq.
So how do the Iraqi people feel about everything? Of course they don’t want the Americans here. But they would far rather have us here than the Iranians. My platoon visited an average Sunni village on a patrol a few days ago. Their only source of income was to farm, as they could not go to the city to work for fear of violence. Many of the young men had already run off to join the militia for no other reason than to feed their families. They had no school or hospital near them and the community was dying. The village elder’s granddaughter was very sick and I was able to treat her. Afterwards he invited me and my Platoon Leader to sit in his house and have tea with him, and we talked about the situation.
The people want peace. The Shiites kill the Sunnis because al-Sadr tells them to do so. The Sunnis fight back because they have no choice. They are glad Saddam is dead (Sunni or not), but do not want to replace him with another dictator in a politician’s clothes (which is what al-Sadr will become). And they especially don’t want Iran in charge. Many innocent Iraqis will die if this happens. These are the words that came out of the elder’s mouth:
“We do not want America here, and America does not want to be here. But you cannot leave because the militias control the country. America must use the might of its giant army and sweep through, root out and destroy the militias. Then Iraq can be free and you can leave.”
What appears to have happened within our diplomatic community, is that Prime Minister finally realizes that his days are numbered. If al-Sadr remains, he will be kicked to the curb. So hopefully he is about to allow us to reenter Sadr City, root out and destroy the enemy. A dramatic troop increase will allow us to do this. And the Horse People are back and ready to finish what they started over 2 years ago.
If we leave now, it will be a failure for democracy. Iran will control Iraq and the end result will be more terrorist attacks on America. The American people don’t want soldiers dying over here, but its better than American civilians dying over there. Do NOT forget 9/11. They will do it again. The moment we loosen our grip on the noose, they will do it again. And the only way to root out the evil here is to stop beating around the bush, increase troops and destroy the insurgents once and for all. The Iraqi government cannot do this on their own. The Iraqi security forces are inadequate for this task. We are the only ones who can stop al-Sadr.
Feel free to share this with whomever wants a real soldier’s opinion about the war.

Secular Humanism...
Q: Is secular humanism a religion?
A: Humanists believe that the universe is self-existing (was not created). They believe that man, as a part of nature, has emerged as a result of a continuous process of material causes. Secular humanists believe that nature is all that exists … that there is no God, no spiritual dimension, and no afterlife. In short, they believe that man evolved from molecules by natural processes—no supernatural activity is allowed to be considered.
Secular humanists don’t believe that an absolute moral code exists. Instead, they believe that man makes up his own rules.
Secular humanists don’t want to be called religious. That’s because they don’t want to admit that teaching materialistic evolution is really a religious point of view—a view that tries to explain life without God. If they did, it would be admitting that when public schools in America threw God out of the science classroom, they didn’t throw out religion … they just replaced God with an atheistic religion.
Sadly, many church leaders don’t realize that when they support eliminating God from science classes, they’re supporting an anti-God religion—the religion of atheistic humanism.

Israel records homosexual “marriage” for first time
WASHINGTON, Feb. 1 /Christian Newswire/—For the first time in history,
Jerusalem has recorded the “marriage” of a homosexual couple. Binyamin and Avi
Rose were “married” in Canada over the summer of 2006 and moved back to Israel
where their marital status is now being recorded through the Interior
Ministry’s Population Registry. Israel’s highest Court ruled in November that
same-sex “marriages” that have been legally performed in foreign countries will
now be included in Israel’s records. Concerned Women for America (CWA) prays
that the nation of Israel will embrace and defend the Biblical definition of
one man, one woman marriage and not go down the slippery slope that seeks to
destroy traditional marriage.
CWA’s Policy Director of Cultural Issues Matt Barber said, “Christians, Jews
and all people of faith from around the world will no doubt be saddened and
shocked by this alarming development in Israel – as should anybody who
recognizes the tremendous benefits conferred upon humanity by the institutions
of legitimate marriage and family. It defies logic that the state of Israel
would grant any official recognition to counterfeit ‘same-sex marriage.’
“God ‘made them male and female.’ The Biblical model irrefutably defines
marriage as between one man and one woman. It provides that all sexual
relations are to occur within the bounds of marriage.
“But this is not just a spiritual issue. Even within secular society, marriage
has, by definition, joined male to female since time immemorial. Unless the
Israeli government reverses course here, it has now inexplicably capitulated to
the radical and destructive redefinition of marriage,” said Barber.

organization. ( www.cwfa.org )

Mike in Iraq...
Mike Evans in Iraq
Jerusalem Prayer Team founder, Dr. Michael Evans, has been in Iraq this week to minister to American troops in the country. He is still in the Middle East today. Please pray for his safety as you pray for the safety of our dedicated young men and women in Iraq.
In 1991, Mike went into Iraq to minister to the people during the Persian Gulf War. He was in the valley where the suffering Kurds had been pushed by Saddam Hussein. He helped to deliver medicine, food, and blankets. American helicopters were airlifting supplies to them because Saddam had targeted the Kurds for extinction.
Mike has been in the Valley of Ninevah. It’s described much in the Bible in Genesis 2:8-15, the Garden of Eden, and Nahum 3:7, Jeremiah 51:11, Daniel 5:28. These are, in fact, the descendants of the Medes. The tombs of Nahum, Jonah, Habakkuk, Daniel and Noah are there. It overlooks the very mountain where Noah was sent by God (Genesis 6:14-22, Genesis 8:1-4, Genesis 9:1-16); and, of course, where God gave the covenant of the rainbow. When the Jews were sent into exile by the Assyrians, they were housed in the cities of the Medes/Kurds (II Kings 17:6). Daniel spoke much of them, (Daniel 6:8), the law of the Medes and Persians. Of course, Daniel was a counselor to Darius, (Daniel 5:31), who was a king of the Medes, (Daniel 6:7-9). The story of Daniel in the Lion’s Den, (Daniel 6:21-22), is the story of the king repenting of his pride, humbling himself and accepting Daniel’s God.
