Winning The War - One Battle at a Time

When you read the title of this article you may immediately think that it refers to the war in Iraq. As bad as the war in Iraq is, this is not the topic for today. The war I am referring to is that culture war right here at home - and particularly, the war on Christmas this year.


In the last few years we have read about nativity scenes banned, Christmas songs such as “Away in a Manger”, or “Silent Night” and so forth have been banned from school Christmas plays. As a matter of fact the school play isn’t even a Christmas play anymore anyway. It is a “Holiday play” or a “winter play” and so forth. When I was in school, we used to get out for two weeks for Christmas break. Now the children get out for the politically correct “Winter break”.


At least some retailers are getting the message that people do not want to secularize Christmas. The day is all about the birth of Jesus Christ, not about anything else. Of course giving and receiving gifts is fun and there is nothing wrong with that. It is a symbol of the three wise men who brought gifts to the newborn King (Jesus). Now some want to dismiss this two thousand year old story and secularize a day set apart for the celebration of a savior.


Some argue that Jesus was not born in December, but in the spring. Well, I personally don’t know if that is true or not. However, it makes no difference whether he was born on December 25 or August 15. The actual birthdate is not as significant as the meaning of the celebration itself. Some fail to realize that we are not celebrating a date, but an event that happened long ago that would change the world forever.


If people want to celebrate some other celebration near this same time, then fine. I have no problem with that. However, I do have a problem with the banning of the nativity scene, Christmas songs, and other related things. Just recently in Chicago, ads for the upcoming new movie “The Nativity” was not permitted because “it might offend non-Christians” according to city officials there. This was a public Christmas festival that was not permitted to even display the Christmas story. Now, I bet that if that had been a Muslim display, it would have been permitted. There is certainly a double standard and we as Christians are going to have to start taking a stand and putting these officials like this on the spot when they participate in religious discrimination such as this. A group called the Willow Creek Association compared this to having an Abraham Lincoln birthday celebration and then not mention Abraham Lincoln during the celebration.


At least retailers like Sears are displaying Christmas this year. I recently walked into a Sears store and did not see many “Happy Holidays” posters all over like I did last year. This was different. There were “Merry Christmas” signs in place of the Happy Holidays signs. Perhaps Sears is beginning to see a backlash of Christian customers just like Ford Motor Company is right now. While Ford will never admit it, their slow sales pace is contributed to hundreds of thousands of Christians boycotting all branches of the company for their stance on same-sex marriage and homosexuality. The same goes for Wal-Mart. While Wal-Mart reinstated “Merry Christmas” it may not help them that much. I feel that the only reason that they brought it back was to gain the lost customers who vowed not to buy from Wal-Mart again until they stopped donating to pro-homosexual groups. Wal-Mart, since they started these donations, have lost sales simply because no one wants to support a business that supports what the Bible deems as sin. Right now Wal-Mart and Ford Motor Company are examples of what happens when companies go wild. Not only will customers not buy, but I doubt whether God will bless the company further either.


The only thing that I have left to say about this current secular crisis is Thank God for people like Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel. Thank God for Jerry Falwell, Alliance Defense Fund, American Center For Law and Justice, Family Research Council, Concerned Women for America, Thomas Moore Law Center, and many others. Without these and talk radio, conservative Christians would be left in the dark about what is going on in this wicked world that endangers religious freedom and freedom of speech to Christians.

He Whose Name We Dare Not Speak: Taking Christ out of Christmas

Growing up in America during the 1950s, I usually began to notice the first inklings of the “Christmas Spirit” creeping into my consciousness around Thanksgiving.


Having the “Spirit” meant that one was emotionally ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, openly and with gusto.  This Christmas Spirit overshadowed hatred and enmity, if ever so briefly, and blessed one’s heart with feelings of good will for others--even those normally thought of as adversaries.


Our family celebrated Christmas enthusiastically in music, literature, food, and social expressions. 


Our joyful celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ was evident in parks, schools, churches, police stations, fire houses, court houses, shopping centers, gasoline stations, post offices, banks, airports, train stations, newspapers, magazines, television shows, restaurants, cocktail lounges, movie theaters, libraries, radio broadcasts, work places, homes, sports stadiums, cemeteries, funeral homes, and other public and private gatherings.


Christmas was everywhere, and nearly everyone seemed friendly and happy during this special season. Christmas offered the promise of hope to the human spirit.


And Christmas was unmistakably Christmas—not some neutered, weak-as-water euphemism. 


The family sent out Christmas cards, decorated Christmas trees, exchanged Christmas gifts, attended Christmas office parties, went door-to-door singing Christmas carols for complete strangers, and went to Christmas Eve services.


And we greeted everyone with a heart-felt Merry Christmas!


Happy Holidays, anyone?  Not on your bloody pagan life!  We would have been genuinely appalled by the mere suggestion that any part of Christmas should be sans the Christ.


When did America change so dramatically—and so wrongly? 

To wit, when did:

* Public displays of the Nativity scene become offensive and unconstitutional?


* Wishing someone “Merry Christmas?” become hate speech?


* Christmas cards and Christmas trees become symbols of religious intolerance?


* Beautiful Christmas music like “Joy to the World!,” “Silent Night,” and “Noel” become less important, and more offensive, in America than rap music? 


* Halloween become nearly as important as Christmas in the minds of American youth?


* Relieving the inconvenience of a small minority become more important than preserving the long-standing traditions and culture observed by the overwhelming majority of Americans?


In the 1950s, we were often warned that Christmas was becoming too secular and commercial--and not sacred enough.  Learned people worried that the real meaning of Christmas—the birth of Jesus Christ—was being obscured by flashing lights, sparkling tinsel, jolly old fat men in silly costumes, out-of-control charge-it-mania, and an unhealthy obsession with the crass at the expense of the spiritual.


In recent years, the ACLU, activist judges, and other liberal extremists have worked tirelessly to remove Jesus Christ from Christmas and into the category of “He Whose Name We Dare Not Speak.”


Although they have succeeded to a certain extent, the liberal attempt to eradicate Jesus Christ from Christmas will ultimately fail.


We can all help to hasten that failure by remembering the real meaning of Christmas, and by letting the Christmas Spirit bless our hearts with the Good News of the gospels.


Merry Christmas to all!

Compromise vs Moral Relativism

Between the Constitution as written and the liberal paradigm, no compromise is
possible.  Every concession to liberal policies entails sacrificing individual
political liberty.


When people share common principles, compromise is possible.  But when the
founding principles of society, expressed in the Constitution, are attacked by
liberal moral relativists bent upon destroying those principles, acceding to
their demands is, not compromise, but surrender.


For that reason, demands by liberal media and by voters that Congress
compromise and “get something done” are really demands that we continue slowly
to dismantle the Constitution.  The analogy is to heat yourself in the winter
by tearing your house down, piece by piece, to burn in the fireplace.


The Constitution created a government of limited power for a religious and
moral people.  Political power was to be curbed by citizens’ God-given,
inalienable, natural-law individual rights to life, liberty, and private
property.  As the English Glorious Revolution of 1689 established, when a ruler
arbitrarily contravenes those rights, he has broken the social compact and
thereby forfeited his right to rule.


The paradigm of American liberal-progressive-socialists, in diametric contrast,
is an authoritarian government that has both the right and the duty to
determine how people should live their lives and even what thoughts are to be
permitted expression in education and public forums.  In the government
envisioned by liberals, the “public good,” as defined by liberals, always
trumps individual rights.


In this liberal paradigm, political-state planners are the source of economic
and social well-being.  The welfare state is thought to be essential, because
private individuals and private businesses are, according to liberal theory,
incapable of doing the job.


Liberals are atheists or agnostics (or people who, in ignorance, believe
themselves to be Christians) who believe that Judeo-Christian religious beliefs
should be eliminated from government and education.  Many liberals insist that
the First Amendment’s ban on establishing an official religion means that the
United States should be free from spiritual religion altogether.  Justice
Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., our first socialist Supreme Court member, wrote
that morality should play no role in the law.  This, despite Tocqueville’s
observation in 1832 that Christianity was the most influential single factor in
America’s uniquely successful republican democracy.


At the same time that individual political liberties are steadily curtailed,
liberalism advocates no-holds-barred personal hedonism.  Liberals want an
amoral society that accepts, even welcomes, foul language, flouting social
custom, abortion, sexual promiscuity, same-sex marriage, and an endless list of
things designed to corrode and erode the social compact upon which the
Constitution was based.  Imposing hedonism, usually by judicial fiat, is a
curtailment of individual political liberty.


Compromise with liberals thus necessitates accepting moral relativism, the idea
that there are no timeless, religious or philosophical principles of morality
flowing from the relationship between humans and God, the Creator of the
universe.  One might as well say the 2 + 2 = 4 applies as a principle only when
that answer serves the interests of the observer.


Historically, political societies that abandoned their early core beliefs and
pursued the course of moral relativism thereafter fell victim to outside
aggressors or slowly declined in economic well-being.  Not content with that
inevitability, liberals want to accelerate the process by subordinating the
Constitution to so-called international law and a world government under the
UN.

Atheism...

Atheism and Unalienable Rights

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created
equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable
rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of
Happiness...” We are familiar with this phrase from our Declaration of
Independence, but have we considered its logical implications and outworking?
Probably not very much at all.

Atheists and Humanists are among the most vocal proponents of a society
with an obsession to assert their collective “rights.” But since these
secular “religions” are practically branches of the philosophy of
naturalism, where everything that exists is a product of matter in motion,
we might legitimately ask “from whence do these rights cometh?” If
humanity evolved from the slime of a prehistoric pond, it seems silly to
even anoint our race with so lofty an attribute as “human dignity.” If
what the infidel says about the origin of man is true, then any rights he
claims are as illusionary as the disappearing animals in a Las Vegas
magic show.

Skeptics want to deny that rights come from God, but if they are
correct in that assertion, then there is no sound philosophical footing
girding their perpetual claim to any rights. They are walking on a tenuous
tightrope of conceptual fiat. Obviously they have not thought this issue
through very carefully. The prime purpose of law is to protect an
associated right. The commandment “Thou shall commit no murder” ordains the
right to life. “Thou shall not steal” asserts the right to property.
The biblical prohibition against man-stealing conveys the right to liberty.
The Commandments given to the ancient Hebrews is the flagship
establishing those rights, thus making them transcendent and absolute.

They were certainly not invented out of thin air by men, several
centuries later--and it is a good thing that they weren’t brought about that
way. Whatever a government can give, it can take away on a whim, simply
because governments are corrupt and have the power of coercion.

As President Kennedy observed in his 1961 inaugural address, “The
rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand
of God.” If the atheist worldview is correct about there being no God,
then the only place anything called “rights” can come from, is
gratuitously from the state. That would in turn set the stage for tyranny. The
state would no longer be the earthly protector and curator of these
rights, but for all practical purposes, the divine provider itself. The
state would thus have the just power of caprice to withdraw these rights. If
that is the case, there could be no just reason to rebel against
tyranny, the cause would be moot and unwarranted. Unless government has
limited authority and jurisdiction under God, nobody would have a basis for
arguing that the state was ruling unjustly. And let’s not forget that
the components of the institution we call “the state,” are merely fallen
individuals.

Naturally, secularists will be quick to point out that the Declaration
states that the power to govern comes from the consent of the governed.
That’s true, but if individuals didn’t have unalienable rights to begin
with, there would be nothing negotiable to concede to the state in
order to empower their rightful duty to govern.

The atheist, by virtue of his own theory of origins, is hard pressed to
prove that rights exist. If humanity evolved with other animals from a
common ancestor, then why don’t other members of the animal kingdom
have the same rights we do?

Two possibilities may be logically extracted from such theories of
ultimate origin. Either humanity and the animal kingdom both have the same
rights by the reckoning of fiat, or neither have rights since such are
not a necessary by-product of naturalism (that the universe is matter
in motion and nothing more). Clearly we do not reason the latter to be
true. When the seagull swoops down to the river to grasp a fish, and the
eagle wrests it away from the gull with its talons, we don’t declare
the gull a murderer or the eagle a thief. A certain agency is necessary for
a being to either be morally culpable or to possess rights. Merely
declaring that the virtue of superior intellect imbues these rights on
humanity is short-sighted hubris. Such attributes merely make for a more
cunning “survival of the fittest” paradigm. Ethicist Peter Singer would
probably suppose the former of the two possibilities to be true. He
calls the supposition of humanity having greater rights than animals
“speceism.” While many may consider his ethics wacky, his conclusion is
logical if the premises are true. I suggest they are not.

The Atheist/Humanist removes God from the equation, while living on the
generous capital pilfered from a theistic worldview. Rights can only be
unalienable if they are transcendent and bestowed by God. If they are
not, then there is no moral mooring to secure anything nobler than “the
rule of the jungle,” which is the inertia propelling the animal
kingdom. And notice I am not saying that infidels have no unalienable rights,
but that they couldn’t exist if what the infidel stands on is true.

Obviously, the atheist/secularist won’t roll over than easily. I can’t
just hear the howls from the secularist media sources, saying that I
don’t know about this or that theory of human rights. He will be inclined
to point out that there are theories of rights that require no need for
attribution to God, such as Ayn Rand’s theory of Objectivism. Others
will want their own day in court, also. What all these attempted
refutations will completely ignore in their analysis, is how do you derive
rights from a materialistic universe to begin with? Where do
abstractions such as rights, morality, meaning, self-awareness, etc., come from,
in a universe that is nothing more than mindless matter in motion?
Philosophically speaking, the atheist throws out the baby and keeps the
soiled bath water, then tries to explain how the bath water itself is
purposeful.

The father of our nation, George Washington, attributed rights to
religious foundations in his Farewell Address. “Of all the dispositions and
habits, which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are
indispensable supports… A volume could not trace all their connexions
with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked, Where is the
security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of
religious obligation desert the oaths...” Notice how Washington attributes
religion to the rights of property and life found in the Declaration.

We could go on to talk about how liberty disintegrates into license
under a non-believing structure, or how evolutionary theories provided a
catalyst for latter day racism and ethnic cleansing, but we will save
this for future discussions.

Suffice it to say that Atheism and unalienable rights are a cocktail of
water and oil.

Truth vs Moral Relativism

The liberal media denounce Pope Benedict’s adherence to Biblical and historical
truth as rigidity.  They want pragmatism and flexibility, which amounts to
moral relativism.


Pope Benedict and Christianity stand accused of “divisiveness.”


Liberals, along with Muslims, denounced the Pope last September when he spoke
at the University of Regensburg.  The New York Times demanded an apology for
his lack of sensitivity.


What exactly had he done?


As reported in a VOA News article by Sabina Castelfranco, Pope Benedict
XVIÊspoke of Islam and violence. At a morning mass, he rejected the use of
God’s name to justify hatred and fanaticism.


In a theological address to academics at Regensburg University, the pope spoke
of the relationship between faith and reason and Islam’s holy war, Jihad.
Historically, he said, spreading the faith through violence is something
unreasonable and therefore, ungodly.


This so distressed Muslims that they were driven to murder Catholic nuns and
priests and to destroy Christian churches to prove that Islam is not a religion
of violence.


Now, with the Pope’s forthcoming journey to Turkey for discussions with Islamic
mullahs, the media have another opportunity to chastise Christians.  The Wall
Street Journal, in its edition of November 25, 2006, spotlights the Pope’s
forthrightness in a front-page, feature article by Gabriel Kahn and Stacy
Meichtry. 


The Journal article’s headline is A Tumultuous World Tests a Rigid Pope: Inside the Vatican, Benedict’s intellect and style intimidate. How will they play outside the Church?  Confronting Muslim anger. If you are an online Journal subscriber, read the article here.


The reporters observe disapprovingly, Nineteen months after being selected
pope, Benedict is transforming the Vatican with a different style and a
different stance. Beneath his blunt words and rigid style lies a profound
divergence from John Paul’s buoyant optimism. Pope Benedict believes that the
Roman Catholic Church must stand apart from the world of today rather than
embrace it. 


..… For Benedict, the modern age is defined by growing secularism in the West
and the rise of religious fanaticism most everywhere else. In order to fulfill
its mission, he believes, the Church needs to shun both forces. Benedict is
“pessimistic about the compatibility of the Church and the modern world,” says
Mr. Spaemann.


.… Benedict’s emphasis on tradition risks alienating a broad cross-section of
Catholics who argue the Church needs to become more accessible to maintain its
increasingly diverse flock.


Many people mistakenly assume that, because the Journal’s editorial staff is
conservative, the Journal’s news staff are similarly aligned.  This front page
article is a good example, both of the Journal’s liberal slant on news
coverage, and of present-day moral relativism in action.


Implicit in the article is the viewpoint that there is no such thing as truth,
no such thing as right or wrong.  The writers have absorbed the relativistic
view inculcated in today’s colleges and universities that flexibility and
pragmatism, other names for moral relativism, ought to be the sole criteria for
belief and action.  Adherence to the truth is characterized as impractical
rigidity.


Flexibility and pragmatism were the watchwords of John Dewey, the 20th
century’s most influential liberal-socialist-progressive.  The doctrine of
Pragmatism which he popularized was that Darwin’s evolutionary hypothesis had
proved everything to be continually changing and evolving.  Thus there can be
no such thing as permanent moral truth from God, rooted in human nature,
because there is no such thing as fixed human nature.  Pragmatism, instead,
teaches that there are only actions that get you what you want, or fail to do
so, in changing circumstances; the end justifies the means.


In the vein of Dewey’s philosophical pragmatism, the Journal reporters simply
assume that the goal of Christian churches ought to be maximizing their
membership by reaching a doctrinal compromise that would alienate the fewest
people.  It seems not to have occurred to them that a Christian church has no
purpose other than preaching the New Testament Gospel as written.  Without
that, there is no Christian church.


Flexibility and pragmatism are the hallmarks of a society that no longer
believes in itself, because it has lost touch with the traditions that brought
the society into being and enabled it to survive against outside aggressors. 
They are the hallmarks of societies in political decline.


Flexibility and pragmatism, as Professor James Q. Wilson wrote in astonishment,
led his students to reject the judgment that Hitler’s National Socialism and
his Holocaust were evil, because those students had been taught that right and
wrong are unscientific value judgments.


If Pope Benedict’s allegiance to Biblical Truth alienates a broad cross-section
of the Church’s diverse flock, the logical conclusion is both that the
alienated portion of the flock is not truly Christian, and that some Catholic
priests have drifted into heretical doctrine and taught falsehood to their
parishioners.  Unfortunately, the same is true of the Protestant denominations,
as well.


Compromises on Jesus’s teachings, Sunday morning entertainment, and feel-good
messages are not Christianity.  Preaching the Bible’s truth is the only way to
bring individuals into a fruitful relationship with God and the only way to
maintain the integrity of Christianity. 


To do otherwise would be the equivalent of instructing Marine Corps volunteers
in boot camp that Semper Fidelis is the motto of the Corps, but it isn’t
necessary always to be faithful to your buddies in combat and to fight for each
other if you have a different opinion or just don’t feel comfortable with the
history and traditions of the Corps.

The “Mother” of All Court Cases



The recent decision by the New Jersey Supreme Court, forcing the legislature to create civil unions or same-sex marriage, has given birth to another premature court ruling. A family court judge in Burlington County granted the request of two lesbians to have both their names listed on the child’s birth certificate. While the state Supreme Court gave legislators six months to define these unions, this judge refused to wait on the outcome. Instead, he bestowed rights on two women that directly contradict the biological reality. The court has ultimately nullified the birth certificate, since what it “certifies” is untrue. Only one woman is the birth mother. The existence of a father, even through artificial insemination, is a medical fact not subject to debate. While an activist judge can define the family, he cannot redefine the laws of nature. By authorizing a birth certificate that is not sex specific, this “family” court has created an enormous loophole for homosexuals in the same-sex marriage debate. If a child has two mothers or two fathers, how will the state limit other relationships? More importantly, will the birth certificate be recognized outside of New Jersey if the “couple” moves? Obviously this type of judicial activism has serious ramifications--for both federalism and the family. This debate is being driven by focusing on the “rights” of adults, but little is being said about the rights and well being of the children, at least one of whom in now certified as having no father in this world.

Pro-Homosexual Democrats To Push Anti-Christian ‘Hate Crime’ Legislation
With the Democrats taking control of both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives this January, we can expect the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and its pro-homosexual surrogates newly elected to Congress, to begin an aggressive push for passage of a “hate crimes†bill designed to provide federally protected status to the behavior of homosexuality. This hate crimes bill is likely to be a re-engineered version of the old Local Law Enforcement Enhancement Act (LLEEA). The pro-homosexual, anti-Christian Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) is another bill that will be revived as part of the homosexual agenda.

Casey Puts an ENDA to Religious Liberty



If their first week in session is any indication, Congress’s liberal leadership is going to have a tough time living up to its promises. Yesterday, Democrat Senator-Elect Bob Casey (PA) made it quite clear that while he ran openly as “pro-life” and “pro-faith,” he is not beholden to the whole pro-family cause. In one of his first post-election statements, Casey pledged to work with the pro-homosexual Human Rights Campaign (HRC), “especially to advance hate crimes legislation in the Senate.” Casey also backs the “Employment Non-Discrimination Act” (ENDA), which would add sexual orientation to federal civil rights laws. Since HRC raised over $375,000 for Casey and spent another $200,000 to help him, this is payback time. But back home, his real agenda will come as quite a surprise to Pennsylvanians who were led to believe that Casey was a moderate family man who valued his Catholic faith. By then it will be too late for voters, who are finding out the hard way that Casey’s actions have already spoken louder than his words. As the party of Pelosi scurries left, the city of the Speaker-elect is following suit. In a shocking move by the San Francisco Board of Education, high schools will ban the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (Jr. ROTC) because of the Pentagon’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy on homosexuality in the military. Having recently lost a Supreme Court case in which they sought to bar military recruiters from law schools, homosexual activists are now picking on high school students instead. Over 1,600 Junior ROTCs are paying the price for the “San Francisco” values that Democrats hope to introduce in Congress. If Rep. Pelosi truly wants to compromise with social conservatives, now is a good time to start. We urge the Speaker-elect to use her leverage with the city and reenlist a program that teaches valuable lessons on leadership and military service.

Agenda or Acceptance?

The secular world that we live often promotes acceptance and tolerance of other cultures and ways. While there is nothing wrong with acceptance of others, we must be careful about the overall outcome of this quickly growing phenomenon among secular progressives. Of course as a Christian, the Bible does teach acceptance and love toward others in general and Jesus often told people to love each other and forgive each other.


However, this teaching may remain, but the basis behind the teaching is being attacked on a full scale mode of operation by almost every culture in the civilized world. While everyone, or most everyone will agree that Jesus was right in teaching people to have love for one another, Jesus himself as well as other Biblical references and important scriptures are under siege.


I knew that one day when the world got bad enough, someone would recommend changing the Bible to their point of view instead of reading it for what it is - God’s infallible Holy inspired word. If you haven’t already heard, famous pop star Sir Elton John recently made the negative comments regarding not just Christianity, but all religion in general. Elton John stated that religion in general, whether it be Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, or whatever, “encourages hate” and he also stated that “From my point of view I would ban all religion completely”.



Mr. Elton John was, of course, referring to most religions talking negatively about homosexuality. Christianity and Islam both see homosexuality as an abomination, but only one of those religions actually puts people to death for it. Of course it does say in Leviticus that homosexuals should be put to death. Muslims take this seriously to this day even though their religion is different.


Many do not understand why this particular verse in Leviticus says to put homosexuals to death. Remember that the Bible is the inspired word of God. In this verse it reads:


‘If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.(Leviticus 20:13 - NIV)Now many do not understand that this was what God was telling Moses. While we may not actually punish people like this anymore, we still use this verse as a prime example of how serious sin is to God and God will not tolerate sin. God never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. His attitude and tolerance towards any sin never changes. It remains steadfast for eternity. This not only includes homosexuality, it generally includes all sin. There are other verses where homosexuality is singled out as well as 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 : “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God (NIV)


Remember that Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”. That means all will die for their sins. There is not a single person on earth who has not sinned and will face death because of it, but God does give the opportunity of forgiveness through His son Jesus Christ for all who may ask of it.


However, given the opportunity, these verses may change. Recently some German scholars have created a “politically correct” version of the Bible in order to appeal to feminists and homosexuals. Now, I have a heard of the controversial “gender - neutral” Bible that apparently went nowhere because the Bible is not gender neutral. This new controversial Bible is worse that the gender neutral one in that it never refers to God the father in Heaven. It refers to God as father and mother. Now, reading through the scriptures, how many times do you remember Jesus praying or giving thanks to His mother in Heaven? No, it was His FATHER"S will, his FATHER’s kingdom. Of course Jesus had a earthly mother (Mary), but He never referred to Heavenly Mother. As a matter of fact there is not one verse in the entire Bible, cover to cover, that even mentions a female authority. Every mentioning of God in the Bible is strictly described in one way or another as being male.


Now, political correctness has even taken hold of the Word of God. This new Bible even depicts Jesus feeding the multitude with hamburgers instead of with loaves and fish. I sure hope this new Bible never makes it. I feel confident that the Southern Baptist Convention will vote to keep out of Baptist churches and away from children. I never thought that I would see the day when I would ask someone not to read a Bible. That just goes to show you how corrupt, and how sinful this world really is.


The whole point of the Bible speaking negatively of sin is to encourage repentance and forgiveness, and the experience of eternal salvation, but these scholars have thwarted the original plan and they may pay a price for it. It is not my place to judge these scholars, but when I read about this scheme, I am reminded of a verse in Revelation 22:18-19 (NIV) that talks about taking away and adding to scriptures: I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.


The whole world today is embracing same sex marriage as if God were dead or not watching anymore. So far we have been lucky to have enough Christians in America to take a stand for marriage and for God. Otherwise, America might have been another Sodom and Gomorrah long ago. As a matter of fact some Christians are nervous right now because of a so called “hate crimes legislation” introduced by newly elected Democrat Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey. Casey and other Democrats are planning to work with Human Rights Campaign (HRC) to ensure that homosexuality is protected under law. This might be enough edge that some gay groups could use to silence religious leaders in the pulpit. I would not be surprised by anything some of these politicians would do to silence conservative Christians and ensure that their agenda is met properly.


Not only do some politicians embrace this lifestyle, but some corporations do also. Wal-Mart just to praised for re-instating “Merry Christmas” this year, but it might not be enough to save them from an all out Christmas boycott by numerous organizations called for just that. It turns out that Wal-Mart is donating up to five percent of online sales revenue to pro-homosexual groups and that does not sit well with conservative Christian customers who will take their Christmas shopping somewhere else if Wal-Mart refuses to change this.


Apparently some churches are buying into the whole “gay is not a sin” thing as well. Recently the Episcopal Church USA Bishop Katharine Jefferts-Schori made the comments that God makes people gay and that Jesus was not the only way to Heaven.  Now keep in mind that these are the people who are going to be teaching your kids about the Bible. It sounds like to me that these Bishops need to take a refresher course in Bible school and learn what it really says. We are seeing more and more of people making the Bible say what they want it to say rather than listening to what is already there. How can a proposed leader like this make such a statement?


While there have been people criticize churches for speaking out against abortion and homosexuality and not believe in what the Bible teaches simply because of leaders that set bad examples. The Rev. Ted haggard, for example recently stepped down after preaching against the very actions that he was involved in. This is enough to discourage Christians and non-Christians alike from coming to church, but we have to remember that we are all human and make mistakes. Rev. Haggard may be a Christian, but I believe that he got mixed up in the wrong things of the world and made some mistakes. Remember that King David was loved by God very much and he loved God very much, but his lust for another man’s wife led him to adultery and murder. This is tragic, but if you read on, King David did repent and was forgiven.


Anyone can follow that path, even a Christian. Christians are not perfect. We are still sinners, but we are saved sinners and once saved, no force in existence, not even Satan himself can take that away from us. Anyone can get sidetracked and get away from God, but as we saw in King David’s case, forgiveness is an option for all who ask. Is what Ted Haggard done wrong? Absolutely, but I believe that if he genuinely ask for forgiveness, he will receive it. All of us will, if we sincerely ask for it.


While homosexual acceptance is on the rise, war is raging all over, sickness and disease run rampant, and other woes befall us, there is one - God, who is still on that same throne that He was on when He created the universe. He has never changed and still seeks to forgive humanity if humanity ask for it.

Suing for Family, Faith, and Freedom



After a string of court cases aimed at suppressing religious freedom, social conservatives made it clear that those who attack free speech and free exercise will pay for their prejudice. Literally. In the Show Me State, Missouri State University recently sided with Emily Brooker in her grievance against a professor who imposed his anti-family views on students. Frank Kauffman, an assistant professor of social work, demanded that his class sign a letter supporting the notion that homosexuals make healthy foster parents. This is a fund that is created to distribute funds to Christian and Conservative based individuals, groups, organizations, and projects with the intent of furthering the cause of traditional, conservative ideals based upon Biblical values and traditional American ideas. About the Founder


Rob Hood grew up in rural Mississippi and was rooted in the doctrine of the Southern Baptist Convention and its teachings of Biblical right and wrong, accountability to a higher authority, and the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He was a participant in Bible Drill for nine years, a Southern Baptist Convention program devoted to educating children and youth with scriptures from the Bible for use in everyday life situations. He graduated from Holmes Community College in Grenada, Mississippi with an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Electronics Technology and is currently employed as an Electronics Technician with HAM radio equipment manufacturer. 4 U.S. troops die in Iraq; ‘al-Qaida in Iraq’ claims it’s winning war


BAGHDAD - The group “Al-Qaida in Iraq” claimed in a new audiotape Friday to
be winning the war faster than expected in Iraq and said it had mobilized
12,000 fighters who had “vowed to die for God’s sake.”

In Jerusalem, Gay Pride Goeth before the Fall



The Holy City is embroiled in another holy war, only this time the attack has been launched from within. Homosexual activists scheduled a “gay pride parade” to march straight through Jerusalem tomorrow in a move that could ignite the fury of the Middle East. The Vatican, joining local and foreign opposition to the parade, called for the celebration to be banned for offending “the sensibilities of religious communities that reside in Jerusalem and hold her dear.” Despite the controversy, Israel’s attorney general has upheld the parade, against fierce pressure from the global church and foreign ministries. While free expression should be respected, it shouldn’t include desecration. We join with religious leaders around the world in condemning this abomination in the city of Christ and call on the U.S. government to exert its influence in the region.

Afterthoughts...

After the big win by Democrats yesterday, I realize that many are not happy about the war in Iraq and neither am I. However, I sill voted with my conservative principles. We as conservatives have to get the conservative politicians to recognize that they will continue to lose power until they submit to the will of the people.


As far as the war in Iraq goes, our military is doing a great job, but could be much more agressive than they are on terrorists there if it were not for red tape burocrats in Washington.
As we speak our soldiers’ hands are tied with red tape and are unable to annihilate the terrorists in Iraq who are doing the damage. Please contact our new Secretary of Defense and ask for a policy that allows no rules, anything goes, guerilla warfare style of new offensive in Iraq. Please ask our new secretary of Defense, Robert Gates to inject more special forces into Iraq with an agressive offense strategy to win by any means that it takes to do so, even if it means departing from all rules of engagnement and leaving the Geneva Convention rules.

The ‘Real’ Speaker Pelosi


The Democrats will soon control the House of Representatives and San Francisco Democrat Nancy Pelosi is set to become speaker, one of the most powerful constitutional offices in the United States.


Do you really know Nancy Pelosi?


Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich does. He has warned that a Democratic victory will turn the House over to “the San Francisco values of would-be Speaker Nancy Pelosi.”


Just how dangerous, then, is the House minority leader from California to those who hold to traditional conservative values?


Pelosi is one of the most liberal members of the House, receiving a 95 percent “liberal quotient” from the Americans for Democratic Action based on her support for the liberal position in key votes.


She voted against cutting taxes by $70 million, against renewing the Patriot Act, against reducing the death tax, against drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and against making it a crime to desecrate the U.S. flag.


She supports gay marriage, and backed legislation allowing overseas military facilities to provide abortions for women in the military and military dependents.


The would-be speaker also backed a measure calling for a timetable for withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, supported a bill requiring a 72-hour background check for persons buying weapons at gun shows — and opposed a bill strengthening the enforcement of immigration laws.


Pelosi’s Hypocrisy


But a look behind the scenes exposes Pelosi as a Democratic leader who passionately fights for liberal policies, yet goes to great lengths to avoid applying those policies in her personal life.


Best-selling author Peter Schweizer’s book “Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy” first revealed the glaring contradictions between Pelosi and other prominent liberals’ public stances and their real-life behavior.


Pelosi claims to be a staunch union supporter, and, along with her husband, has received the Cesar Chavez award from the United Farm Workers Union, notes Schweizer.


Unions are, in her words, “fighting for America’s working families” and battling “the union-busting, family-hurting” Bush administration. But Schweizer uncovered that a $25 million Northern California vineyard the Pelosis own is a non-union shop!


Pelosi’s hypocrisy doesn’t stop there.


The congresswoman is the top recipient among members of Congress in campaign contributions from labor unions, and has received more money from the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union than any other member of Congress in the last several election cycles.


But in addition to the wine business, the Pelosis own a large stake in the exclusive Auberge du Soleil hotel in Rutherford, Calif. The hotel has more than 250 employees; but once again, Schweizer found, it is strictly a non-union shop.


The Pelosis are also partners in a restaurant chain called Piatti, which has 900 employees.


“But a union card is not required to work there bussing tables, washing dishes, serving guests, or preparing food,” Schweizer wrote in NewsMax Magazine.


“As with Auberge du Soleil, at Piatti the Pelosis’ commitment to organized labor ends at the front door.”


Pelosi has also demonstrated hypocrisy on the environment. “With us,” she proclaims, “the environment is not an issue — it’s an ethic. It’s a value.”


That’s what she says. Schweizer exposed what she does: One of her largest investments is a private partnership called Lions Gate Limited, which operates the CordeValle Golf Club and Resort in San Martin, Calif.


To get a permit to build the facility, the partners promised to build a “public course” providing considerable access to non-members, and to abide by several environmental requirements to ensure that there would be minimal ecological damage.


But after the facility opened, the county’s Planning Commission found that the golf course was in fact private — and the club had “ignored” many of its permit requirements concerning the environment!


“The reality is that liberals like to preach in moral platitudes,” says Schweizer.


“But when it comes to applying those same standards to themselves, liberals are found to be shockingly guilty of hypocrisy.”

Iraqi Kurdistan Prime Minister Nerchivan Barzani today delivered a stunning
rebuke against the bias of the news media that you must see!


Prime Minister Barzani expressed frustration with the bias of the news media
saying that “CNN International and Al Jazeera are equally bad in their coverage
of the situation in Iraq.”


“When I was in the United States recently and read the negative news in the

Senator Ted Kennedy:  Undercover Enemy Agent

Just as he now works to undermine our resistance to Islamic Jihad, Teddy
Kennedy arrogated to himself the role of secret negotiator with the Soviet
Union during the Cold War.  If it wasn’t treason, it was very close to being
so.  His actions clearly were intended to thwart the foreign policy of our
elected government and thereby to give aid and comfort to our enemies.


A Washington Times article reports:


In his new book, “The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism,”
Grove City College professor Paul Kengor sheds light on a letter written by KGB
head Viktor Chebrikov to Soviet leader Yuri Andropov. The letter is dated May
14, 1983, right as the debate was heating up over Mr. Reagan’s proposed
deployment of intermediate-range nuclear weapons in Western Europe to counter
the Soviets’ medium-range rockets in Eastern Europe.


Most Democrats and much of the left were universally opposed to Mr. Reagan’s
plan, which they argued would lead to nuclear war. Heading the list of critics
was Mr. Kennedy, who had, according to the Soviet letter, sent former Sen. John
V. Tunney to meet with Kremlin leaders. Chebrikov writes that Mr. Kennedy
“charged Tunney to convey the following message, through confidential contacts,
to… Andropov.”


.....The letter goes on to say how Mr. Kennedy felt that the Soviets’ peaceful
intentions were being “quoted out of context, silenced or groundlessly and
whimsically discounted.” Conversely, Mr. Reagan “has the capabilities to
counter any propaganda.” In other words, if the letter is to be believed, Mr.
Kennedy felt his own president was the real aggressor.


Mr. Kennedy had two proposals for Andropov, according to Chebrikov. First, he
asked for a meeting later that summer in order “to arm Soviet officials with
explanations regarding problems of nuclear disarmament so they may be better
prepared and more convincing during appearances in the USA.” Second, that
“Kennedy believes that in order to influence Americans it would be important to
organize … televised interviews with [Andropov] in the USA.”


Ironically, even Senator Kennedy now acknowledges that President Reagan’s
policy was not only correct, but also was responsible for ending the Cold War.


Senator Kennedy’s roguery is reminiscent of a similar, free-lance project early
in our history to interfere with the official foreign policy of the United
States, one that could have undone our recent victory over the British.


In 1793, four years after ratification of our Constitution, Revolutionary
France sent Citizen Genet here as its ambassador.  Rather than proceeding to
New York to present his credentials to President Washington in accordance with
protocol, he landed in Charleston, South Carolina, and began to organize groups
opposed to Washington’s policies.  Genet supported formation of socialist
Jacobin Clubs of the sort that had produced the street mobs of the French
Revolution. 


The official policy of the United States was neutrality between England and
France in their continuing war, but high-handed Genet supplied money to outfit
American privateers to prey upon British shipping.  Genet also issued French
Army commissions to Americans on the western frontier who agreed to serve in
the French Army of the Mississippi.  Needless to say this could have
precipitated war between the United States and England.


Then, as now, public opinion was divided.  Many Americans favored France’s
cause, erroneously believing the French Revolution to be of the same nature as
our own War of 1776. 


The parallel, of course, is not exact.  But both Citizen Genet and Senator
Kennedy risked enormous damage to our national security by promoting the
interests of our enemies.

Behind the Lines



There is a real threat looming behind the lines of Sen. John Kerry’s statement on Monday when he said that those who do not do well educationally “get stuck in Iraq.” Probing behind those insulting remarks we find the contempt that liberals such as Mr. Kerry have for America. They scorn the very idea that young men and women would volunteer to defend this nation and the ideals which it represents. The concepts of duty, honor and country appear to be foreign to the mindset. Like many others, I joined the military, enlisting in the Marine Corps at the age of 17 to serve and defend. Kerry’s remarks are reminiscent of the Vietnam anti-war movement when some avoided the draft by going to Canada or to college. Those in college, however, could end up in Vietnam, if they failed or dropped out. Kerry’s explanation of a botched joke might hold water if he had not launched his political career by attacks on the military. It is ironic that these same liberals who scorn the virtue exemplified by those who volunteer to defend our way of life are talking about re-instituting a draft. Charlie Rangel (D-NY), who would be the chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee if Congress changes hands, introduced a bill to reinstate the draft. Liberals might be realizing that a draft would probably be necessary to defend an America remade in their image.
